First Legion - The American Revolution (1 Viewer)

Quote from Kogu, "during the coming years" :(

Not to say Lexington and Concord aren’t significant, only not my personal favorite period of the Revolution. I would like to see Continental uniformed infantry sooner rather than later. If First Legion plans to cover Lexington and Concord in the same depth as it is covering Waterloo and Borodino it would be years, far too many years, before we would see regular American infantry. I would like to know if this range might be different and Frist legion would try to cover Lexington & Concord with just one or two releases and then move on.

I agree with Konrad again on this. There is really no comparison between the scope of Waterloo and Borodino versus Lexington and Concord. The former could indeed take years to do with any degree of completeness; the latter could be done very throughly in a few months. I would not worry if I were you.

I agree as well. It won't take a whole lot of releases to accurately represent Lexington and Concord. At the same time, these great looking Colonial Militia can of course be used for any part of the Revolution.

I am excited to see where this line goes!

I have always liked irregular troops pitted against all odds so this release suits me just fine - can't wait to get them.

The figures are super and yes, I agree, these irregulars can be used as part of the American firing line through-out the war. I must learn to be patient. I am excited about this range and am looking forward to seeing how it will unfold.

That is more than understandable mate; when you find out how to be patient, please advice me of your secret.;):D I am somewhat of a poor example when it comes to the British and French in the Peninsula.:eek::D

Good Luck, guys,
those who know how to be patient are hard to find  :D
A very exclusive club  :D

These look fantastic! Might consider picking up a few to build a small vignette.:)

I hate to admit this, but I am so excited about the upcoming Rev War release that I am coming back to this thread a couple of tmes a day to see if there has been any new updates or comments posted. I am also visiting the First Legion website more on a daily basis than I have ever done before. I can not remember the last time I was this impatient in waiting for an announced release of figure sets. April is going to be a long month for me - give me strength and patience.;)

And we haven't even shown the British at all. Think Pyle's painting of Bunker Hill... ;) Stoic march attack surrounded by the dead and dying (many many of them) from previous attempts to take the redoubt.

Best,

Matt

Something like this then?

Pyle's painting of the Bunker Hill assault has been one of my favorite paintings since I was a kid, despite it's uniform inaccuracies. FL cannot go wrong adhering to this vision. The possibilities are endless. It will be a big winner of a series. I look forward to seeing the developments. -- Al

Matt and Al - You fellows are not making this any easier for me ;).

It's been one of my favorite paintings for as long as I can remember as well, in addition to being a major inspiration for what I believe an American Rev/Bunker Hill line of British figures should look like. It wasn't until we did the detail research that we discovered its inaccuracies, but our release will be meant to capture the "essence" of what the painting shows, not an exact replica if that makes sense. Since doing the research on this range I've seen many paintings, drawings, and renditions of the fighting on Bunker Hill but none come even close to capturing in a single image what Pyle's painting so eloquently shows. To me, this image is the benchmark of inspiration of the Battle of Bunker Hill and if our range can evoke the same emotions than I'll consider it a tremendous success.

I think one area where we are maturing as a company is that we are now making figures and releases that work extremely well in combination with one another whereas when we first started we just made "figures" that we thought were excellent. Where I feel we're showing maturity is that we're now making overall visions of history. For us, this first started with our combination of Old Guard Chasseurs vs. the Prussians in Plancenoit. With our new ranges this year you'll see continued maturity in that regard with combinations of releases that are not only world class individual figures, but combinations of figures that really capture a moment or provide a vision where the sum is greater than the individual parts. You'll see what I'm talking about in due course... :D

Best,

Matt

Right there with you Al; this one and "Waterloo" depicting the French Cavalry charge vs a Highlander square are the two I remember most from my childhood, the former and the latter both shown in the old "American Heritage" books on "Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill" and "Waterloo" respectively.

There was also a cyclorama painting of the Battle of Bunker Hill depicting the final British assault where they took the position that vanished and it's not known where it is or what happened to it............

Naturally, I hope due course includes some Peninsula visions.;):cool::D

This sums up what I have been doing as well! How did you know Mike?:)

And Matt, First Legion obviously does an excellent job of creating releases that are 'instant dioramas'. You mentioned the Old Guard/Prussians and I think that is spot on. I for one really enjoy that fact that you plan some releases like this.

True enough Noah. I have a feeling these will become 'instant classics'. I guess it would be prudent to get them while you can.;)
