First Legion - The American Revolution (1 Viewer)

Your descriptions of the fore-coming British troops are most enticing. I am already looking forward to their release, in spite of the fact that the American Minutemen have still yet to be release.

You are taking my money even before I can make it. :)

I like the instant diorama approach to making figures.

I need a life too. I also keep checking this thread and the FL website for any updates every day. The small glimsp we were shown of the minutemen has caused an indescribable excitement in me. I can only imagine what the rest of the range will look like!!!

Right there with you Al; this one and "Waterloo" depicting the French Cavalry charge vs a Highlander square are the two I remember most from my childhood, the former and the latter both shown in the old "American Heritage" books on "Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill" and "Waterloo" respectively.

There was also a cyclorama painting of the Battle of Bunker Hill depicting the final British assault where they took the position that vanished and it's not known where it is or what happened to it............
George, those American Heritage Junior Library books were great. They were basic, but well written and well illustrated. I still have my old "Gettysburg" and "The Desert War" copies. I used to have the ones you mentioned as well as ones on D-Day, the French-Indian wars, the carrier war, and pirates. Those are all gone now but they were instrumental, along with the Landmark series, in forming my military history interest. -- Al

I am really enjoying this new firing line pic! Also, glad to hear a little more about the 'plan' with this line. From your e-mail:

We will approach this range a bit differently than our usual ranges in that rather than stick with any one battle for a long period of time, we will progress through the war chronologically thus showing the progression of the Continental Army

Excellent idea to show the myriad of uniforms during the Revolution, without having to wait too long to get to the Continentals. Great news indeed. Bring on the preorder!

Hmmm....just saw this latest image. Very nice. Definitely got my interest peaked (sp?) now.

This is not a period I am interested in collecting, although I have recently enjoyed seeing the Patriot movie again.
But the figures alone look so great that sometimes that is enough to spark an interest... When the Regulars come up (especially those beautiful Redcoat uniforms and flags, sorry my American friends...) I am sure they'll be a thing of beauty.
First Legion to me now means follow closely...:D. A new number one in the making?

Matt. I just read my latest email news letter from you and First Legion and hurried over to this thread to share the news - too late, much to everyone's pleasure the news has already been shared. I want to say that the news letter was very informational and all the new figures/vehicles pictured with it are wonderful looking. The Am Rev War firing line is fantastic looking - can't wait for the pre-order. 1775 here I come! :D

No need to apologize Paulo. Many of we Americans were drawn to military history and toy soldiers because of the British military, it's long history, pomp, and visual impact of "those beautiful Redcoat uniforms and flags", in the first place:D. I, also can't wait to see what FL has in mind to match up with these great looking minutemen. -- Al

Wow that will be an impressive journey indeed. There are many colorful choices for the Continental, as well as the British side, including these::cool:

Personally I love the Queen's Rangers and the 4th Continental Light Dragoons.

You can count on it Scott. The nice thing about the Hudson & Allen scenics (farm stead) that I have on my 4 foot X 8 foot "play table" is that they are suitable for both 18th and 19th century diroama scenarios. I will be able to use both my WB ACW and the FL AWI figures on it :D

Just noticed that this thread is very active with over 3,075 views and 96 replies. If this is any indication of how popular and in demand the new FL American Revolution figures will be, then it should be very successful. Congratulations Matt - its certainly a winner in my book.

Great I look forward to it :) And the money saved on scenics is a bonus :) More to spend on figures I guess :D :D :D

Love the new American firing line. These figures are what I have been long advocating and hoping for. I have wanted figures that are doing the same thing or having the same basic position, but with different heads, accessories and painting. With these simple differences it will be easy to make a convincing diorama of the American Militia in battle formation. I get so tired of seeing my entire firing lines being made up of only one figure. This one thing is what helps make First Legion figures so great. Each new product line gets even better at showing this.

I was looking at the future Highlanders photo shown on this forum and it shows figures with different heights and different weight ratios. Now that realism!!:)

Thank Matt and all the people who work at First Legion.

Perfectly stated KM and that's exactly my thoughts when I first saw the promotional photo featuring the Rev War colonial firing line - different figures but in the same pose. Certainly adds realism to a diorama and like you I have also grown tired of having multiples of the same figure just to make a firing line. Another big plus in my book :D
