football season is here!!!!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

Congratulations to the long suffering Jets fans, this was a must win for you, and you find yourself alone in first place this late in the season for the first time in several years.

That being said, don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. I rooted hard for the Jets tonight, even though I am a Giants fan, for my best friend, Billy McGrath, a life long die hard Jets fan. Once they won the game, and I could exhale, I made the following observations about the game:

The Jets played a depleated team, missing its star quarterback, its top 3 running backs, its best linebacker, its best cornerback, and they needed overtime to beat them, after blowing a 24-6 lead. The Jets allowed a second string quarterback with no starts since highschool before this year to throw for 400 yards against their vaunted defense, which could get no pressure on him most of the night. The Jets could not convert a third and two in regulation to win the game, and needed to convert a third and fifteen in overtime to avoid disaster. The Jets coach, Mangini, looks to me to be the worst coach at half time adjustments I have ever seen. The Patriots defense were able to hold the Jets to two first downs and a turnover in the third quarter. Frankly, the Jets need to fire Mangini and replace him with someone who has a clue if they ever want to really challenge a healthy Patriots team.

Next week they play the undefeated Titans, who really haven't played many good teams this year. If they can win that game, I will stand corrected and believe the Jets are a legitimate contender.

I don't know if the Jets are for real but it's sure nice to see the Patriots lose like that. Can't stand them.

Whatever, but you can only play the teams on your schedule and they did what they had to do. Defensively, they were bad but offensively (except for the third quarter) they played very well and they made the plays they had to make. You can't ask any more than that.

I guess we will find out how good my ravens are this weekend when we travel to new york to play the giants, this is the ravens 5th out of 6th road games in a row and we have won four in a row on the road so if we can pull off a win there we are a better team then alot of people give us credit for gooooooo RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....Sammy

Yes, please take out the Giants for us.;):D

From me, too, good luck against the Giants!

Go Iggles! I think Andy Reid is gone, if they can't finish better than .500. 10 years is a long time, for the meager results he's brought. Time left on contract or no, I think he's under the gun.

Prost!

The Ravens have an excellent team, with a top defense, and frankly, I am more worried about them than the game the following week against the Cardinals and Kurt Warner.

To me, this game comes down to coaching - On offense if the Giants foolishly try to run the ball down the Ravens throat (like they did against the Steelers similar defense), I don't see them winning, or if they do win, they do it with difficulty. This is a game for spreading the field and throwing the ball, especially bubble screens to the wideouts, as the Ravens are a very aggressive defense, the middle of which (especially Ray Lewis) is the strength. Get the ball outside, away from Lewis, and let your playmakers (Plax, Amani, Boss, Steve Smith) use short passes as a running game.

On defense, let your front 7 win the game by both stuffing the run, and getting pressure on the rookie quarterback, Flacco. 4 of Flacco's 7 interceptions came when he was flushed out of the pocket. The Giants need to put the game on his shoulders, and pressure him constantly.

The Giants are home, and their offense is clicking, so I think they win a close one.

The Ravens are a nice little team but I can't see them winning against the Giants, who are the best team in the league this year. I see a 20-13 or a 20-17 game. Too bad they lost to the Browns or we could be looking at an undefeated season right now.

Although I'm obviously relieved they won the Eagles game, I think the refs musts have thought it was Christmas last Sunday because the Giants were very fortunate with the Manning call beyond the line of scrimmage and the scoring drive where the ball was "fumbled" in the end zone. I can only imagine what Philadelphia talk radio must have been like this week.

Well if you can see that than you can see them losing since it is easy for a tip, fumble, interception, missed assignment etc to change a one score game.;):D

What he said in spades.

Lose like what? They came back from a 24-6 deficit and almost pulled it out.

Thanks for your .02, much appreciated.

I was, frankly, shocked by how well the Giants ran the football against the Ravans, who have one of the best run defenses in recent memory. At 9-1, with wins over the Redskins, Steelers, Ravens, Eagles and Cowboys, I am starting to believe that the Giants really are the best team in the NFL this season.

Number one defense? What a joke. It would have been worse if Ray Lewis, who should be in jail for homicide, doesn't make that interception at the end fo the first half.

Spoken like a fan whose team just lost lost to a team they've owned for the last few years.

Almost pulled it out?? Since when does that matter?? They lost.
And please don't use the excuse of injuries. Nobody cares. Everybody has injuries this time of year. That's just sour grapes.

Actually, the Jets have played us very tough the past few years, so we've far from owed them. We did demolish them in the playoffs a couple of years ago, so if that is what you mean by owning them, then you are right. But now that you've got the drama queen as your QB, maybe if we meet again in the playoffs, the result will be different.

Yeah, they scored the tying touchdown WITH ONE SECOND LEFT and lost the game in overtime, so yes chief, they almost pulled it out. They were losing by 17 points, did you watch the same game I did?

No injury excuses from me, but I guess you automatically assumed that was were I'd go next.

Everyone has injuries this time of year; wow, what a profound statement, did you think that one up on your own?

I'll take 6-4 at this point of the season; if we don't make the playoffs, life goes on. I've still got those wonderful memories of the three Super Bowl wins in four years to look back on; if you want a highlight DVD, shoot me your address and I'll fire off a copy to you, ok?

oh my, a good ol' whipping put on my ravens today by the giants, but with that being said were only one game out of first and the next 4 out of 6 games are in baltimore where we are tough to beat, so no need to panic yet, plenty of ball left to play and the way the afc is playing who knows how many wins it will take to get in the playoffs?? .....sammy
