Forthcoming and third Dispatches of 2012 (1 Viewer)

It's just for fun guys, the best thing about Dispatches is the surprise in what it contains. Right, im off to suggest to the wife that this year we visit El Alamein, the Somme, Normandy, Bastogne and Arnhem, let's see if that happens!^&grin:wink2:

Been to them all already!

Spot on Wayne. We can all make suggestions until the cows come home but its not how Andy and K&C make their decisions on future releases, surely none of us believe they do do they? These Dispatches threads I post each month are purely for fun and to get you guys chatting about upcoming dispatches and what you think might be within. I could list a hundred things I'd like to see released but it means nothing in the scheme of things. I don't think Andy was having a go at us at all , I think he was merely pointing out how they go about making their decisions and how it's worked very well for many years. It's interesting sometimes when people guess and get it right and sometimes they are way off, some years back we even had one suggestion that Andy make AK releases every single month! ( I can hear Wayne replying in the affirmative as I speak to that one!) ^&grin

Just start a real annoying thread (Like my Kett one) and go on and on and on about a plane and you just never know what might happen............^&grin
Hey if where not aloud to put our 5 cents worth in it looses half the fun of the hobby, the interaction with the people who make the stuff we collect is also great but i don't expect anyone to listen to what i want, and of course its what i want to collect and add to my collection,if everyone just made WW2 it would be boring.
So wheres my STUKA being towed by a Kett.....................ANDY.:mad::mad::mad: (joke joke).

Me too, well most of them! But I like to get the wife into the mindset that at least every other year we have to return to Somme/ Ypre or Normandy, don't want her getting complacent and forgetting do we!!^&grin

Now some of you blokes are just showing off about being to all the Battlefields (Jack,Rob) where some of us (me) are lucky just to get to go to the nearest T/S dealers shop.:wink2::rolleyes2:{sm4}{sm4} lucky buggers.

Wayne, if my wife has the slightest interest in all these places it's my absolute duty to see that she sees them! ^&grin:wink2:

Now that was nasty, no love between allies those two nights 26/27 Nov 1942. Started at the cnr of Adelaide and Creek sts and ended in Queen st. To much booze, both sides to blame. Those interested should google ''Battle of Brisbane"
A shamefull thing.

Mate, there was a lot more to it than that, you really should look it up, it's an eye opener for sure.

Just as a matter of interest for those who are after more Soviets , saw this pic of Soviet troops using a bren gun carrier at the battle of Kursk, some thing different.

Have to agree. For the life of me I cannot see what the need was to post what was said? I know many won't say anything and, have come to tell us what he actually meant but, I wonder if another poster had come in and said your all wrong and, the rest if the post would have stood or, been seen as baiting or any of the other forum words used. It just seems to have derailed the thread and, the reason why its posted.

If we put it another way ... 90% of K&C's planned releases are not what "collectors" in this dedicated K&C section are looking forward to. :(

I have always believed that 'sales figures and collectors interests' may well be 'self fullfiling prophecy' if the manufacturer pulls it's punches and dun appear fully committed to the range. Some non WWII ranges are released with such conservative numbers, frequency & choices that it's likely that's they are set up to do poorly. As an 'extreme' eg. Take the recent 3 Kingdoms releases with just 2 pieces. There is almost no news of what's coming next .. And we seem 'discouraged' from speculating or suggesting what we would like to see. How is any collector to maintain interest in this range ?

Please dun get me wrong .. I am a dedicated K&C Nap, Awi and Acw collector and have virtually every piece released since late 2006. Some in multiples too. Yet I can't help getting the impression that K&C doesn't really appreciate any new suggestions fellow collectors may offer regarding these ranges.

I agree. I don't see the need for Andy to have posted his model selection strategy. But every 3 months or so he puts his foot in it. {eek3} What he said was factual - I certainly wasn't offended by it. But I also think the many posts calling for specific items (except Stukas ^&grin) do influence him. He has said no Italian armour but we now have Italian armour. He said no more Russians, but we are now getting more Russians. Rob did a diorama that influenced Andy to produce a specific piece.

So despite all the denials that the members of this form can't iinfluence the selection of new models, I am firmly convinced that it does have some influence - it's one factor among several for planning new models.

Terry, I don't think Andy did deny they have some influence, this from his post;

'Whilst this is undoubtedly useful it is by no means the only criteria by which K&C makes its commercial decisions'.

Its pretty clear, there are several criteria involved, lobbying is just one.

Terry...

It would be absurd to say it does not have an influence. I would add the jagdtiger to that list and, its a good way for manufacturers to easily access worldwide opinion on this or that. I just find it strange the way paying customers are often spoken to and, regardless of those who jump to defend Andy's every word and explain it away in what it was meant to be (how they can do this amazes me) it still defies belief.
