Gas prices🤬 (1 Viewer)

US and Australian fuel prices are close compared to my local fuel price of average AUD $1.80 per litre, which is about USD $5.00 per gallon. My current work site is about 70 km/44 miles away from my residence, which is about half the distance from previous job sites, so not as bad for me cost wise. Another plus is that I claim mileage and other vehicle costs on my tax, then spend the annual tax refund on Toy Soldiers, I'm doing my bit for the TS economy ^&grin

There continues to be a lot of misinformation and media hype about the current global issues including Nuclear power. You only have to look at the German example where they traded Nuclear for renewables and imported power, now they pay way too much and are more reliant on foreign countries. Yes Nuclear accidents do occur, same as every industry, the problem is that most people don't understand the advantages and technology and are easy victims to misinformation.

The Germans should do their bit for the Ukrainians and fire up the Panzers; they're 3-0 in Kharkov.

Highest average price in US history.

Sorry if myself and others are torked off over it.

Truly sticker shock.

Nah all good Warrior and wasn't taking the piss, I just find it really interesting. You certainly know things are getting silly when gas prices in the US are going up.

Petrol has always been expensive down here, but $3 a litre is bonkers.

Mind you the current mob of Muppet's supposedly running the country at the moment did shut down our only oil refinery and cancel all our oil and gas exploration contracts a couple of years ago, much to everyone's disgust.

Given the escalation, I'm afraid that soon the problem will not be the increase in the price of gasoline ...

.....I presume you're referring to wheat/corn based products and nitrogen based fertilizer from the Ukraine & Russian?

The BP Petrol station close to me is now £1.75p per litre the equivalent of $8.59 per US gallon including tax others like Shell - Esso etc are a little below that, though I'm sure they're catch up soon.

What with the impending Oil,Gas,Wheat,Corn,Sunflower seeds/oil from Ukraine, same for Russia plus all the fertilizer and Uranium for Nuclear fuel things are going to be a little sticky !
Yep there is definitely going to be some Worldwide problems especially when you add in Population growth, effects of Pandemic, Floodings and droughts and other potential war zones such as China/ Taiwan, Egypt/Sudan/Ethiopia, plus all the current ones.

Think I'll get back to looking at TS displays ! {sm2}

Dad went from a Camaro to a Vega in the early 70's.

Over $5 for premium here.

Sidenote:
Dad visited Eastern Europe in 1971/2.
At the German border, they stopped him & his travelling companion for 2 days.
Finally, a guy with more braid and medals than can be easily counted came in and said "Students?"
Dad & friend answered "Da" quickly. After all, Dad had long blonde hair, a shirt with the Stars & Stripes, blue jeans and cowboy boots. His friend was Italian. So the Commies let them pass for 2 weeks.

The Czechs were afaid to even talk to Dad. History will tell you why.

But he met 3 Polish guys who seemed unafraid of anything (beacause of their country's position or sheer ignorance) and they proceeded to show Dad & friend the sites and a lot of hospitality. They said they refused to be intimidated by the Soviets.

Just a fun story.

Nobody said War was easy or cheap. Many Americans have paid far more into our price for Freedom. I think that Freedom is worth fighting for, especially when you consider the other reasons Powers give for declaring War.

Best Wishes to our Russian artisans who live under this sword of Damacles.

For Ukraine: keep it up. We are better allies than Russia because we can throw the crazy leaders out more easily, and - oh yeah, our business model is 10X more efficient.

For us: even YouTube has a host of interesting and often accurate documentaries on this subject.
Check 'em out.

As to gas, again, sold 2 Camaros and have a Mini. Dad had a Caddy SUV. Mom is too sick to drive.

Prayers to Everyone who is suffering today,
Paddy

The US has been outsmarted by almost everyone at this point. Most recently we tried to pressure Poland into providing Ukraine with fighter jets. The Poles didn't want to do this for the fear of incurring the wrath of Putin. So what to do? They offer them to the US to give to Ukraine. The US is then placed in the position of sending the jets to Ukraine. The US then rejects this offer making us look weak and proving no assistance to Ukraine. Back to square one. It would be humorous if the stakes were not so high. The US is paying for NATO's defense. The US is taking the hit on the oil prices while the Europeans continue to buy Russian oil. And now the US has to decide how to provide jets to Ukraine. It's amateur hour. The Europeans must close their doors and laugh themselves to death.

....Teehee, I'm told its all part of a cunning plan. Just as the Covid crisis begins to wane and falls off the front page of MSM, Boom, the Ukraine situation ignites and is suddenly the top hot news item. Sanctions are being thrown about like confetti, our leaders are flapping and prices everywhere going through the roof.

Meanwhile elsewhere........

PA has a .60 per gallon tax on gas, but I haven't heard any politician here discuss suspending that for the coming months. I guess the sacrificing for Ukraine does not extend to our state and local governments. We should send those politicians to negotiate with Europe.

Hi Steve

Sainsbury's at Brookwood had it at £1.51 per litre yesterday, the UK Government take 57.95p per litre in tax out of that:mad:

Cheers

Could all be some plan concocted by an Elizabethan Spy Master or even a Bond inspired villain supporting some minor forgotten Scottish royalty in the guise of a Panzer commander who prefers to remain anonymous on the forum ! :wink2::tongue:

Yes Martyn, you are of course quite correct. By the way, where is that Reset button when we really need the darn thing.

Apparently the U.S. is once again in the "leading from behind" mode, which unfortunately is the exact location of the brains of the people currently in charge ..... their behind!
:rolleyes2::mad:

Elon Musk has challenged Putin to "single combat." That would make for a great pay-per-view event.

Russia would be ready to launch missile attacks against NATO countries, such as Poland and the Baltic Republics, should the West fail to lift the sanctions imposed on Moscow. WW3 has started.
