Man, if one bad review generates this type of discussion, I am afraid to see what the backlash is going to be about the book.
I agree with Andy and think makes a good argument. Along the same line, I never heard any movie critic say that 'Schindler's List' was in bad taste. On the contrary, everyone praised it and it won the Oscar for Best Picture didn't it?
Hopefully Toy Soldier & Model Figure magazine will stick to their guns and keep offering honest reviews and not succumb to bullying.
Hi N-P,
Obviously, the problem occurs because of the intentions lended to Mr. Henssey.
I read the article and I did not see it as a personnal attack towards Mr. Neilson but it is only my reading of the whole situation.
As your reading is different of mine, I agree with your opinion.
Mes meilleures amitiés,
Pierre.

...(excuse my French...it's a bit rusty)

Correct me if I am wrong, but an "honest" review is never honest to everyone, it is an OPINION. And I think the barnburner here is calling someones historical model "done in bad taste", that is a personal dig in my opinion.
The more I read the review, the more it stinks of political correctness and less of a "product review opinion". IMO, being politically correct is the equivalent of hiding, I mean wake up world, time to face realities and deal with them. The world is not perfect, history is not nice. Let's think about the English Tudor Reign, 2 Queens were beheaded on the whim of a tyrant, not to mention countless other cruelties, burnings at the stake, etc. YET, this period is glorified all over in print, tv, etc. Which is fine by me, why hide the truth?
Nuf rambling. Andy's response is just that, his response, perogative, etc and I think it is a valid one.
And I do collect all lines of toy soldiers equally, so no bullying here.

I'm sorry Pierre, I don't speak French . . . I will have to wait for my wife for a translation. I will say this, no matter what the backlash, I gave my honest opinion about K&C in the book. It is not an homage to Andy . . . I was sometimes what could be referred to as brutally honest.

Well if I'm reading reviews I'd like to know that it's the writers true opinion and not based on advertising dollars. Whether you agree with the opinion or not.
Now, if King & Country decides to produce, let’s say, a World War II bomber…. A Heinkel… A B17 Flying Fortress… or perhaps an Avro Lancaster… complete with a ground crew loading that aircraft’s bombs… is that in ‘poor taste’?
So these are the July dispatches then?
Hopefully Toy Soldier & Model Figure magazine will stick to their guns and keep offering honest reviews and not succumb to bullying.
Or maybe the Malmedy incident with dead GI's and little packs of snow.

And Andy is entiled to support businesses who support him - not attack him - Andy has no requirement to support people who demean him or his products.

Pierre,
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It just shows poor form on the part of Hennessy. I do not particularly care for this line of products from K and C, but I have to agree with C-Ron. However I don't believe that Andy was demeaned. But I will say this, If I were making some confederate soldiers and I do, I would not care to have someone call me a rascist or said that the making of the soldiers was rascist. If they did I would not advertise with them.
Hi KV-
Mr. Henssey wrote: K&C's "Gestapo Arrest'" set is well-made and certainly interesting. But in my opinion, it is a distasteful exploitation of evil.
The important words are in my opinion. He is not stating a fact. He is giving his opinion and he doesn't have to be punished for that in any way.
Accordingly, it is quite interesting to say that everybody is entitled to his opinion, now, some people just have to put it in practice.
Mes meilleures amitiés,
Pierre.
