June 2020 New Release: The Franco-Prussian War(1870-71) (2 Viewers)

I have again redesigned the village portion of the diorama, adding a battle damaged European brick building (by Figarti) and two connected H&A French town buildings, one of which has the stucco and wood construction and a large H&A cobblestone street base in place of one of the H&A stone buildings with the smaller attached street section, and reconfigured the other elements of the diorama. I am also adding 4 H&A Hedgerow pieces along one side of the diorama as a border. When I have it all reconfigured later today, I will post some more photos.

Here are Alec's photos of the new Village set up:

Louis,
I love the overall concept and the layout.

My suggestion is to find some items to form a barricade across the street and have the Bavarians and the soon to be arriving Prussians attacking, the French defending, the area with the wall and the grass can be a good area to have French firing from behind the walls into the advancing enemy.

The FPW was basically a defensive war for the French, fought entirely on French soil in many towns and cities and villages...…………………………..

George,

I'll add a barricade . . . but should it be makeshift like overturned wagons boxes and barrels, or a more formally military defensive barricade, like sand bag and barb wire emplacements?

George,

I pulled together a makeshift barricade with stuff I cannibalized from around my collection. How's this:

It should be makeshift, composed of odds and ends found around the town, anything from wagons, boxes and barrels to pianos and household furniture, whatever they could get their hands on...…………….

Louis,
That's perfect, think hasty barricade thrown together in a panic as the enemy advances towards the town...…….looks great...…………..

My figures arrived in Tasmania this week. Very nice I shall add the other releases I should think.

I built up the makeshift barricade a bit more, and I ordered a Hudson & Allen Debris pile to place below the damaged roof and the hole in the barn wall:

I built up the barricade higher, and added the wood and stucco building (which arrived today) and took some photos of the diorama at this stage of progression:

Picked up two amazing things to display with my Franco Prussian Zouaves: a pair of 2nd Empire Zouave Gaiters (to replace the WW1 gaiters presently on display with my pre-WW1 Zouave Uniform) and a Steiff Soldier Doll of a Zouave:

These Team Miniatures Franco Prussian War figures will not disappoint. The sculpting and painting as well as historical accuracy are top notch.
Looking forward to see what else Team has in mind for this series.
