King & Country Museum Under Construction (1 Viewer)

What about the Wet Bar ? Don't you need a place to fix a little Whiskey to review the troops for long periods of time???

Louis,

Being an accountant and fellow resident in the state of NJ, I can't help but wonder if your property taxes are going up as a result of your home improvement. We so over taxed as it is in this glorious state, that it seems no matter what we do to improve our homes, the tax assessor catches up with us sooner or later.

I sincerely hope to come up north and visit your museum someday. It appears to be coming along quite nice and if it were me, I'd be just as excited as you are. I, like many others here on the forum, love following your progress each day, so keep us posted. I wish you all the best with this endeavor!!

I also collect antique globes, which will also be used to decorate the museum. I have a bar which is a faux antique globe which opens to reveal alcohol. There will be at least three different single malt Irish Whiskeys and a couple of single malt Scotches in said bar, along with the other usual suspects.

The sheet rock and plaster is all up. Sanding and preparation for painting, as well as construction of the banquette's commences Thursday.

Now that the sheetrock is up, the Carpenter, John, is back doing the trimming and the banquettes. I just sent Brad 8 photos of the progress to post.

The carpet guys came to measure today. The dry wall guys sanded and the carpenter is upstairs putting in the trim and banquettes. When Brad gets back in town, he will post some photos I sent him.

I really cant wait to see your collection !!

Louis, do you have a large Napoleonic display??? :)

Now that the sheetrock is all up, John, the carpenter is back putting up the trim. This first shot is of one of the four covers he made for the storage areas

This is a look down the main room at the back windows. The carpenter has framed the windows, and you can see another of the access covers to the storage area to the right of the chimney.

Here is a closeup of one of the framed rear windows and one of the storage covers.

This is a look down the main room to the front windows. As you can see all of the boxes have been moved to the storage areas, the old furniture and the 1:3 scale Humvee have boon moved out to the garage. Only the carpenter's tools are cluttering up the space.

This is the first look into the sheetrocked office room.

Here is a view from in the aircraft room back out towards the main room.

All of the windows and doors are framed, the rear banquette has been framed out and tomorrow the carpenter should either finish the rear banquette or frame out the "L" shaped from banquette. The upholsterer will be by at noon to give me an estimate for upholstering the banquettes. By the end of this month I expect the museum to be ready for painting and carpeting. More photos will be posted once the banquettes are completed.

Well by no means will I even think about calling it a "museum" because I know what I have in my collection could fit into the palm of Louis's hand....But I too have recently purchased a new home with a good size unfinished basement that will house my King and Country...take a look. I'm excited about being able to build some fun dioramas to fill the space and display my KC!
