John is on a Fokker triplane tear, with Voss and now a re-issue of the famous Red Baron's tripe. Glad to see the red triplane re-appear in an updated version and once again available, as it is the most recognizable aircraft of WW1, if not all-time. -- Al

I’m glad to see it as well and definitely plan to order it... Richthofen’s red DR1 Triplane is perhaps THE most iconic aircraft from WWI so it makes sense to add it to the collection.
I see that someone has listed the original issue Richthofen Red Baron tripe (a later production with the stand fitting) on E-Bay with a BIN price of $400. The lister might be a day late on this one as the newly announced re-issue model is probably superior in detail (I am assuming) for about $150 less than he is asking. Then again, there are collectors who like First Editions/issues. Will be interesting to see if it moves. -- Al

What are the differences in detail between the original and reissue model? I was assuming that it was probably identical.

I’ve not owned an original JJD Fokker DR.I, but have some other early KOTS planes including the Sopwith Camel and Nieuport 17 in my collection. These models were largely devoid of any details in the cockpits and sometimes did not have rotating radial engines. They also lacked some of the finer stenciling and other small details. Then there were the “white” bracing wires... The new Fokker tooling has the rotating engine/prop assembly, detailed cockpit, darkened wires, and other finer details that characterize some of the newer KOTS models like the Fokker DVII, Spad, etc.
Ok, John. We have Tigers, Vikings, Crusaders, 1066 and all that, but where are the Lafayette Escadrille Nieuport 11's? I'm also waiting on 56 Squadron's SE-5's and the Jasta 10 Pfalz D-3a's. I'm not getting any younger here.:rolleyes2:{sm4} -- Al
Very pleased to see that John has finally done a formal pose for Von Richthofen. It is long overdue. John did an action pose of Richthofen a long while back, actually #1 in his Knights of the Skies series, Ace01P. He will look good posed next to brother Lothar at long last. -- Al

mine look great too but i did not realize and i was surprised that they were not lead but sonme sort of plastic or resin. Are these his forst figures to not be lead?

No, they are not. John has made some other pilot and aircrew figures with the plastic/resin, including the seated pilot figures for the RAF and RAAF Spitfires; the interwar P-26 and F4B; as well as the WWII seated USN pilots and aircraft captain figures. It’s a good move as the “lighter weight” plastic/resin figures are easier on and less prone to damaging the aircraft models.
