I just wanted to add that Dragon Crest models were produced by Len's son - Stewart and they usually have "D" mark on the base. I think they are harder to find then "regular" Trophy models and always were painted to the highest standard....
Most of early Trophys with oval bases have never been cataloged and it takes some time to "recognize" them... I personally always had a better luck with early Trophys (just picked up a collection of 60)

Hi Michael

The terrain bases were not just a feature of the later Dragon Crest range as they started to appear on Trophy sets from the mid 1990’s. Trophy didn’t restrict their various ranges to a certain number of releases such as K&C, for instance the AZW range, that I love, had terrain bases added to certain older sets from the mid 1990’s, all the new sets then had the new style bases.

I love the old style and the new style, you also have to remember that the very early Trophy bases were round, then came the rectangular and last of all the terrain.

I don’t think the style of base affects the value, because of the lack of any new Trophy sets appearing the value of the older sets continues to rise no matter what the type of base is.

Although I don't collect Trophy from what I have learned over the years I would agree with this also Martyn. My personal preference would be for the rectangular bases however.

Just general questions, are the scenic bases from the Dragon Quest reissues and do most of the serious Trophy collectors even care? Do the original rectangle based sets have more standing with you? Are the older sets more valuable? I used to collect Trophy and so I am asking as a friend of the collecting family...Michael

I like both bases.

The figures with the terrian bases are different than the the figures with the retangle bases that were in the hospital and storehouse sets.

I guess they were based on the figures in these sets.
