Rumors are swirling the Red Sox have no intention of signing either Bogaerts or Devers, two young stars who came up through the organization.

This will not sit well with the fans, as stated this is a big market town, but the owners are acting like this is some Podunk town, first they traded away Betts, now this; will be interesting to see the blowback if ownership lets both of them walk.

I'm guessing the Red Sox fans are not liking this...
their 2 best hitters...
would hate to lose Bogaerts...but especially hate to lose Devers...
didn't I read last week that Devers was hurt?

He's on the 10 day IL with a hamstring issue.

Noteworthy night for the O's as they beat the Rays 5-3. The victory put them at 49-48, beating 2021'a win total of 48. They are not only over .500, but they are also out of the cellar, at least before today's games. Things are going well for the O's. -- Al

Yes our O's have been a very nice surprise this season. I think they were something like 1-18 against TB last year so it's good to see them finally beating the Rays.

I hope they don't trade Mancini.

Brad...you called that one right!
Mets put a dent in them...

Mike, they caught them at a good time, no Stanton and injuries to their pitching staff, but no one cares if you have injuries; everybody does. Mets are going to win with pitching and defense; they currently don’t have any big bangers except Alonso and they need help supporting him. Buck Showalter has made a huge difference with this team. It’s like night and day from last year. DeGrom should be back next week and that will help the bullpen.

Brad...yea...injuries are the great equalizer...but still..."next man up" is as prevalent in baseball as in any sport...and even with pitching injuries...the Yankees batting order is as strong as any...from NY's earlier dominant record...there may be a chink in their armor...ar least lately there has been...kudos on the 2 game sweep...it's a statement by the Met's organization...

Orioles take 3 of 4 from the Rays!!!!!! Can't remember the last time that happened!! Top it off Mancini gets a inside the park homerun!!! Please Baby Jesus let the Orioles resign Trey🙏🏼🙏🏼

That was a heck of a Hr by Mancini. He's probably still on O2.^&grin -- Al

Dodgers' rookie James Outman homers on his first MLB swing. He ended up with three hits and three RBIs in his first game. Not bad. Colorado also wore the worst looking uniforms that I have had the misfortune to see. Like something designed for an over 40 softball team.

I had the same reaction to the unis worn by San Diego with all the bright colors. Looked like crap. Someone got paid for designing those monstrosities which should be some sort of crime. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Dodgers' rookie James Outman, who homered on his first MLB swing, is now batting 1.000 after two games. He has five hits in six at bats with a walk.

The O's success so far must have caught the front office a bit by surprise because they are making moves that say 'we're still a year or two away'. The O's have unloaded their team leader, Mancini, and their reclamation project closer, Lopez, in the last 24 hours. Two key players on the current club gone, so I don't see that the O's think they are ready to contend this year, and must be still gathering players for a push next year. Still, it has been fun this season and it ain't over yet. -- Al

Soto and Bell are gone to the Padres for 6 players. The Nats are basically THE farm club for Cali based teams like the Angels, Dodgers, and now the Padres. Nats are now in full rebuild mode with no real personality left on the team for the fans to root for. Details are still being hammered out but the talent the Nats will be receiving is supposed to be pretty good. Not Soto good, but the Nats needed a lot of help and Soto couldn't fill the gaps, plus the money to resign him would have crippled the Nats for years. Good luck, Juan. At least you will have a shot at the playoffs. -- Al

Padres got Juan Soto. WOW!

Ah, San Diego. Where star baseball players go to fade away. And he gets to wear that nifty McDonald's uniform. I'm glad the Dodgers avoided the temptation for once to trade away the future for a guy who turned down a $400+ million deal and is likely moving on. I was afraid he would end up with the Yankees.

Al...

I'm delighted the Astros acquired both Mancini (1st base/outfielder) from the O's and Vazquez (catcher) from the Red Sox...

Yuli at first base is getting a little old in the tooth (39)...while he was last years batting champ...his numbers this year have slipped dramatically...

better yet...Vazquez's bat is sorely needed too...catcher Maldonado is over worked with Castro out and his batting average is a paltry .175...

the Astros are having a very hard time scoring runs...surviving low scoring games with wins from good pitching...
so dumping some weak batters and adding these 2 guys hopefully will help...
their win/lose record being similar to the Yankees and Dodgers...they trail by about 100 runs in the differential stat...

The brilliant announcer Vin Scully has passed away. A huge loss to baseball and the Dodgers. RIP, Vin. -- Al
