Quasimodo is 0-7 vs the Indians in this series so far.

With 7 K's.

The big oaf is coming up small; which means he'll hit a ball to France in his next at bat, or 318 feet down the right field line for a home run at Williamsport East.

Why is it that the regular season becomes meaningless for superstars in the playoffs?

Betts is batting 2-11 vs. San Diego with one double and one single. A .182 clip for a guy that hit .269 in the regular season with 35 home runs.

I find it hard to believe the Dodgers are losing this series to SD. If they lose it, the regular season has become meaningless.

That's why I liked the old way. You win the pennant you go to the World Series. Case closed.^&grin

Even when it was just East vs West, unexpected results will happen. In 1988, the Mets beat LA 11 out of 12 times in the regular season but in the NLCS, LA won 4-3.

The regular season is meaningless. It's ridiculous to play a 162-game schedule and then have a best of five series in which a team that finished over 20 games behind can overcome the entire season with a good pitcher or two and winning one game on the road. No other sport is like that. Lesser teams can put an ace on the mound, get a bit of luck, and steal a series by winning a couple of close games. The Braves, Dodgers, and Yanks could all be out in the first round.

The Phillies did play the Braves very closely this year, going 8-11 so on the surface the Braves losing may seem like an upset but it’s not a major upset unlike the possibility of SD winning.

I didn't realize they did that good against Braves.

Not sure what you can do to change things, teams get hot at the right time and roll to a WS win.

Way too early in the game, but who would have had either SD or the Phillies representing the NL in the WS?

The Phillies are a series win away from doing so, we'll see what SD comes up with.

I'm a bit surprised at this. Thought the Braves would take the series, but I'm not shocked that the Phillies won. I'd like to see Harper get to a WS. Now, if the Padres beat LA, then I am going to be shocked. -- Al

took a 6 1/2 hour...18 inning game to sweep the Mariners...
that was exhausting to watch...
but if they had lost...it would have been worse...

the Mariners are an excellent team...
great starters and bullpen...
excellent fielders and hitters...
they just got unlucky...

I see the Braves are back to being chokers.

GEGJ against a team that finished 18 games behind you in the regular season.

And Ok, I'm not going to lie; when the Yankees brough Clarke Schmidt in to get the final two outs, I assumed it was over in Cleveland.

Whoever the **** Clarke Schmidt is.

[FONT=Roboto, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, Segoe UI, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, Fira Sans, Droid Sans, Helvetica Neue, sans-serif]The Gashouse Gorillas had a whopping 5 hits tonight, 3 were home runs, Cleveland had 13 hits.

You live by the Home Run, you die by the Home Run.

It’s never fun to lose a game like that but they would have had a 2-1 lead.

Seattle could have and probably should have won this series.

Whoever the **** Clarke Schmidt is.

Either Clark Kent’s younger brother or the beer that made Cleveland famous.

Garcia was lights out tonight, he basically won that game for the Astros, good for him, he pitched his *** off.

The better team won and is moving on, best of luck in the ALCS, they'll be rested and ready.

The Dodgers now join the 1906 Cubs, the 2001 Mariners and the 1954 Indians as the only teams with 110 wins or more not to win a World Series. That’s a club to which you don’t want to belong.

Winning and losing teams aside, this is one of the best non-toy soldier threads on this Forum.

Al, Brad x 2 (Combat & Jazzeum) George and Marco continually post informed and honest takes on MLB.

Well, you sure called this one, much to your chagrin, I'm sure. The games were fun to watch but now that 2 of the best teams are gone and a third on the verge of being gone, MLB and it's financial supporters are probably tearing their hair out. Can you imagine the audience for a Cleveland/San Diego WS? Big hit in those 2 cities, the rest of the nation, not so much. MLB is right now trying to figure a way to get the NNY's at least to the next round. I could deal with Houston v Phillie, but I was hoping, as many were, for LA v Houston or NY, (as was MLB, I'm sure). Congrats to the winners, they earned it, and it's back to the drawing board and loan departments for the others. Looks like I might have to learn a player or twos name on Cleveland... -- Al

I'm glad I didn't bet no money on this years playoffs.{eek3}
