Mlb 2022 (2 Viewers)

With the Mets and Dodgers out I am going with the Yankees as my pick to win the World Series.

I haven't been right yet so don't listen to me.^&grin

Bet the farm on SD. Only teams that beat the Dodgers go on to win the WS. I'm pulling for anyone who is not the Yankees.

The NYY's win through to meet the Astros, so the AL came out as predicted. The WC NL is up next and the first game has been a real pitcher's duel with Harper and Schwarbs doing what they do to give the Phillies Game 1. Phillies have surprised me with their pitching and the Harper/Schwarb combo is as dangerous as any. -- Al

The Yankees needed this game (more than the Astros) to prove they could beat the Astros. If the Astros win tomorrow, this series will go fast, maybe five games.

Yankee fans are, predictably, moaning.

I was watching yesterday afternoon’s NLCS thinking how great it was to see two long shot wildcard teams vying for the National League crown.

Then the announcers mentioned that Philadelphia and San Diego are ranked 4 and 5 respectively in 2022 MLB payrolls.

They should have won their divisions, baseball is the ultimate rich man’s game.

Mets are #1...........Guardians are last, 29.6 million; and they won their division, won the WC round and took the gashouse gorillas to 5 games.

Unreal.

Both teams deserved to finish where they did; they’re not as talented as the teams that finished in front of them. It’s no accident the Mets beat Philly 14 out of 19 or that LA also beat SD similarly.

"Should have" has nothing to do with it -- to paraphrase Clint (Unforgiven)

Personally hated seeing the Braves go down against the Phillies, whom they dominated in the regular season.

But if everyone is going to complain when their team loses against an "inferior" opponent, it doesnt work.

Otherwise just compile team/player stats and crown the team that "should" win....

I have no real interest in either team (except for Bob Melvin having Bay Area ties).

However, I have to say that the NLCS has been great so far.

I hope this doesn't come back to bite them...
but Astro's pitchers are either pretty fragile...are most likely just screwing up...

McCullers was supposed to pitch Game 3 today in NY...
but cut his elbow on a champagne bottle celebrating their advancing past Seattle last week...
so they scratched him for today and will use Christian Javier vs Gerrit Cole...
a down grade for the Astro's starting pitcher...

on top of that...Phil Maton (relief pitcher)...is now out for the playoffs...
after the final game of the regular season...
they shipped him out after he punched a locker in frustration of his brother...Nick Maton (Phillies 2nd baseman)...
getting a hit off him in that game...

gotta wonder...do these guys need a baby sitter to watch over them...what were they thinking???

Mike, Why aren't they going with Garcia, he was lights out in the clincher vs Seattle or is he going tomorrow?

George...
I think Baker feels both McCullers and Javier are/were their best play...I believe for the playoffs...Louis Garcia may be relegated to the bullpen...that was his role the other night...however...he is listed as the 5th starter in their depth chart...and if you watched that game...he was in rare air that night...and that's not always the case...probably one of his best outings for the year...his wind up is a liability with men on base...

I think McCullers is going tomorrow...unless his elbow/hand is still jacked up...

The NL series has been a blast to watch. The AL series has been well played but the Astros are a much better team. The NYY's were a .500 team from the All-Star break on, and it shows in this series. -- Al

It’s been hard to decide which team I dislike more, the Padres or the Phillies, so I’ve generally ignored that series. Yankees didn’t have a good summer in July and August but played well in September. As Judge goes, so go the Yankees and this HR chase seems to have taken its toll. I knew that if they had trouble beating Cleveland, it would be difficult against Houston. I hope to god they take the NL team out, seemingly the Phillies, in four or five games.

The back and forth in the NLDS has been great.

Plenty of lead changes and drama.

I am with Brad, I really don’t like either team but the baseball itself has been exciting.

tough crowd last night...
Yankee's fans booed Judge pretty loud...

over 60 homeruns this year...and probably will win AL MVP...

I guess it was one of those..."what have you done for me lately" things...

kind of harsh...

That’s NY for you. You shouldn’t boo your own players, especially when he’s a FA and might go to SF.

Yeah, pretty harsh and a perfect example of 'what have you done for me lately'. NYY fans still remembering the team that was crushing everyone, prior to the All-Star game. NYY limped to the finish line, going 35-35 over the last 70 games, hardly an impressive entry to the playoffs. No reason to expect them to play better than they had been, but the fans don't see it that way, and Judge catches the fallout from their disappointment. NYY's, based off their second half of the season performance, had no realistic chance of beating the Astros. Only a minor miracle could/would/can save them and it looks like Judge and company are fresh out of miracles, but Judge is the LAST man that should be blamed. If it weren't for him, the NYY's may not have even won the East, despite the huge lead they had built up. The memories of fans are notoriously short and selective. -- Al
