Mlb 2023 (2 Viewers)

Doesn't surprise me. Might have been even lower if it was Arizona v Minnesota... -- Al

MLB needs to find a better way to market this series. If it was the Texans vs the Cardinals in the SB, the ratings would be enormous.

I haven't watched any of it so far.

I actually forgot game one was on Friday night, last night it was Celtics/Bruins back and forth.

I just don't give a **** either way who wins or loses.

Bit of a shootout last night that was never really in doubt. I tuned out late with Texas up 11-1. That blown Game #1 sure is looming large for Arizona. Instead of possibly being up 2-0, they are now down 1-3 and are in deep doo-doo. Arizona looks done but stranger things have happened. -- Al

I'm assuming that was 5 to 10 years ago; back when they had a good team, not the dumpster fire they've been rolling out there recently.

No matter how bad your team is, going to the ballgame and standing for the 7th inning stretch is special.

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers for winning their first WS title in franchise history. Have to admit that they were my team, (along with the Orioles), when they played in DC as the expansion team Washington Senators back in the mists of 1960's history. 50+ years is a long time for Ranger fans to have waited, but their patience finally paid off. Anyway, enjoy the title, it can never be taken away. On to the Hot Stove! -- Al

Yep, congratulations to the Rangers on their first World Series championship!

And a big FU to the fans from MLB, in the form of blacking out the radio broadcast. Eventually, free radio broadcasts will eventually be gone. If you want to listen, get a subscription.

Echoing others, congratulations to the Rangers and their fans. Great to see Bruce Bochy win again.

In 2010 Bochy led the Giants to their first World Series title ever in San Francisco beating the Rangers, 13 years later he led the Rangers to their first World Series title in franchise history. In between that time he won 2 more championships with the Giants.

Bruce Bochy is one of the best managers of all time.

I'm happy for Bruce, Nate (great move Red Sox not signing this guy, he's a true ace......cheapskate morons) and all Rangers fans, always nice when a franchise wins their first title, hard to fathom they are the old Washington Senators, Ted Williams managed them back in the day.

Somewhere Nolan Ryan is smiling too..................

Hard to describe the excitement around the signing of Ted Williams as Manager for the Washington Senators back in 1969. It was like winning the Lotto. DC thought the Senators would be on top of the baseball world or at least hoping Williams would prove a winner for a perennial loser. And Williams did, the first season. Senators actually went 86-76 in 1969, their only winning season while in DC. Williams followed up with 70 and 63 win campaigns the next 2 years before the Senators blew town after the '71 season. But that one winning year was like winning a WS to the DC fans, for a short off-season, anyway. Never forget Williams and what he meant to DC baseball. -- Al

Despite their crap out in the playoffs, the O's had a fantastic year. It continued this week as Brandon Hyde won Manager of the Year in the AL. The O's were also rewarded with the Rookie of the Year, going to Gunnar Henderson. Both awards were unanimous, with Hyde and Henderson garnering all the first place votes. Congrats to them both and the O's organization. Keep it going in '24. -- Al

I admit I haven't payed close attention to the post season awards and nominees, but what did I miss that Spencer Strider is not a finalist for the NL Cy Young Award? He only led the league (and MLB) in wins with 20 and strikeouts with 281, and had a respectable ERA at 3.86. How does a pitcher with a losing record, Logan Webb at 11-13, 3,25 ERA, even get on the Cy Young list while MLB's only 20 game winner does not? Something is seriously wrong with the guidelines being used for the Cy Young award. Strider should have this award locked up and he's not even on the list. My ideas on what a CY winner should be are old-fashioned but I'm sorry, winning still counts big in my book. -- Al
