THE MENU---photo released of Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy in the movie about a couple who travel to a posh island restaurant for a lavish meal which leads to a shocking surprise.

THE ORVILLE: NEW HORIZONS---poster released for Season 3.

NIKE---Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will star in this untitled Amazon movie about how Nike sales executive Sonny Vaccaro and founder Phil Knight persuaded Michael Jordan to sign a lucrative marketing deal which led to the Air Jordan shoes.

NETFLIX---Netflix lost 200,000 users and $7.8 billion in the first quarter of 2022. It currently has 221.6 million users. The announcement led to Netflix's stock plunging 25% which is $40 billion in market value. In an attempt to minimize losses, Netflix is testing a surcharge on password sharing in three South American countries. Shared passwords are estimated to be 100 million globally and 30 million in North America.

MYTHIC QUEST---F. Murray Abraham is not returning for Season 3. No reason was given for his departure.

THE GOLDBERGS---ABC renewed the series for Season 10.

TRIVIA---in THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS, Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr (Steve Martin) seeks to find a beautiful woman's body to transfer his beloved Anne Uumellmahaye's brain into and sees a beautiful woman get hit by a motor scooter. He tries to take her body, but she is still alive, so he unsuccessfully tries to choke her to death. The beautiful woman was played by Stepfanie Kramer, who later played Sgt. Dee Dee McCall in the HUNTER cop series with Fred Dryer.

STRANGER THINGS---co-creator Matt Duffer said spinoffs might be in the future, "We haven’t told anyone our plans! Not even Netflix! We have some ideas. In terms of if we were to do any sort of a spin-off, or any continuation of STRANGER THINGS, for us the bar was always, ‘Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the pull of wanting to do it again?’ I want to feel the pull of, ‘God, I really want to do this. I feel really, really excited about this.’ So that’s why we’re being careful about what that is and whether we move forward with it or not."

BEING MORTAL---the movie starring Aziz Ansari, Bill Murray and Seth Rogen was cancelled halfway through principal photography after complaints led to an investigation. No details were released as to the nature of the complaint.

TRIVIA---in EXECUTIVE DECISION, Kurt Russell plays terrorist expert Dr. David Grant, who must stop a hijacked airliner containing nerve gas from reaching Washington, DC. In one scene, an explosive-laden Arab terrorist enters the London Marriott's dining room as the hostess tries to stop him. The hostess was played by "Jayne Walter", a British actress better known as Magdalene St. Michaels, who had moved to Hollywood to find stardom. She still had not attained her goal until she was at the 2007 Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas when she was persuaded her to become a porn star at the age of 49. This finally led to her achieving stardom in movies that included CONFESSIONS OF A SINFUL NUN 2: THE RISE OF SISTER MONA and SEDUCED BY MOMMY 5.

DOCTOR WHO---Lydia West denied rumors that she has been chosen to be the new Doctor Who, "Well, it’s such an iconic role. I’m not the next Doctor, but it’s amazing that my name is being associated with it and I just feel honored with everything that’s happened in the last couple of years. It’s a real privilege."

BEING MORTAL---it was disclosed that the movie ceased production midway through filming after a complaint was filed against Bill Murray for inappropriate behavior.

BRIGHT 2---Netflix has cancelled the sci fi sequel starring Will Smith, but reportedly it is not connected to the Chris Rock slapping incident.

CNN+---Warner Bros. Discovery cancelled the $300 million streaming series just 23 days after its launch because it only drew 10,000 daily views.

TRIVIA---Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey starred in the hit tv series TRUE DETECTIVE, but his first real acting job was on the tv series UNSOLVED MYSTERIES in 1992 where he played Larry Dickens, an ex-Marine who was shot to death while trying to stop a murder suspect who was exposing himself to nearby children.

THE MUMMY---Alex Kurtzman commented on the failure of the reboot movie starring Tom Cruise, “I tend to subscribe to the point of view that you learn nothing from your successes, and you learn everything from your failures. And that was probably the biggest failure of my life, both personally and professionally.
There are about a million things I regret about it, but it also gave me so many gifts that are inexpressibly beautiful. I didn’t become a director until I made that movie, and it wasn’t because it was well directed – it was because it wasn’t.

Jackie removes her clothes and has sex with him in the patient's chair. Jackie is actually a high-class hooker under surveillance by Los Angeles vice detectives played by Elliott Gould and Robert Blake.
In reality, Sharpe's father owned a dental supply company, her mother was a dental assistant and she was accepted into the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, which was the nation's top-rated dental school at that time. However, Sharpe decided to pursue an acting career over dentistry, and co-starred with Al Pacino in SERPICO and Sean Connery in THE NEXT MAN.
Sharpe said, "In the beginning of the film I played the hooker who had an appointment with the dentist and Elliott Gould came to the apartment and busted me and then we had a scene where I got off. Peter Hyams directed and he’s a fabulous director. Since the scene was at the beginning of the film I really stand out. I enjoyed the part."

The writer is John Collee (MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD) and the director is Uberto Pasolini.

OBI-WAN KENOBI---Ewan McGregor commented on if he is open to returning in a future STAR WARS project, "If we were to get an opportunity to do it again, I'd be totally up for that. Here I go again. It's like me knocking at Disney's door again!"

THE WALKING DEAD: ISLE OF THE DEAD---the Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan spinoff series will co-star Gaius Charles (GREY'S ANATOMY), as villain Izaak, who is described as, "confident, ruthless, and unyielding in the pursuit of what he believes is justice, with the force of his will and his menace. SPIDER-MAN 4---Sam Raimi commented on the shelved fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire after his unhappiness with SPIDER-MAN 3 “I wanted to make a Spider-Man movie to redeem myself for that. [The aborted] SPIDER-MAN 4–-that was really what that was about. I wanted to go out on a high note. I didn’t want to just make another one that pretty much worked. I had a really high standard in my mind. And I didn’t think I could get that script to the level that I was hoping for by that start date.'”
He also discussed Bruce Campbell's cameo in the sequel, “That [Mysterio] was one of the possibilities. We had other things in mind, too, but that was one of them. And I missed Kraven the Hunter. We were going to work that character into the next SPIDER-MAN; I always wanted to see Kraven fight Spider-Man on the big screen. I thought that would be really unique. He’s the ultimate hunter, and Spider-Man is like the most agile trickster of the skies. And I wanted to see Peter continue forward as a human being.”

BEING MORTAL---Bill Murray commented on the movie's production being suspended after a female cast member complained about his alleged inappropriate behavior, “As of now we are talking, and we are trying to make peace with each other. We are both professionals. We like each others’ work. We like each other, I think, and if we can’t really get along and trust each other, there’s no point in going further working together or making the movie as well.
Its been quite an education for me. The world is different than it was when I was a little kid. You know, what I always thought was funny as a little kid isn’t necessarily the same as what’s funny now. Things change and the times change, so it’s important for me to figure it out.
And I think the most important thing is that it’s best for the other person. I thought about it, and if it’s not best for the other person, doesn’t matter what happens for me.”
Murray said he would like to, “go back into work and…trust each other and work at the work that we’ve both spent a lot of time developing the skill of.”
He also commented on his own behavior, “I think it’s a sad dog that can’t learn anymore. That’s a really sad puppy that can’t learn anymore. I don’t want to be that sad dog, and I have no intention of it.”

THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER---Bruce Greenwood will replace Frank Langella in the Netflix miniseries after Langella left due to allegations of inappropriate behavior.

SPACE FORCE---Netflix cancelled the series and the Meghan Markle animated PEARL tv series that was under development.

SECONDS---movie underway based on the graphic novel. Edgar Wright is the writer and Blake Lively is the director.

AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM---reportedly, Amber Heard's role in the sequel has been reduced to only 10 minutes due to her negative publicity from ex-husband Johnny Depp's defamation trial. The negative publicity included Heard's attorney, Benjamin Rottenborn, showing a Milani All In One Correcting Kit containing cosmetics that Heard supposedly used to cover up the bruises she suffered after Depp assaulted her in 2013 and 2016. Rottenberg said, "This was what she used. She became very adept at it...You're going to hear the testimony from Amber about how she had to mix the different colors for the different days of the bruises as they developed in the different coloring and how she would use to touch those up to be able to cover those." Milani replied to Rottenberg's claim by stating it did not release the All In One Correcting Kit until 2017.
A fan petition demanding that Heard be fired from the sequel currently has over 2.6 million signatures.

FACE/OFF 2---Nicolas Cage commented on the status of the sequel to the John Woo movie that also starred John Travolta, "There have been some phone calls with Neal [Moritz], who I enjoyed very much working with on the first FACE/OFF. He's one of the true great producers in Hollywood, and they have been making some calls. The other ones like NATIONAL TREASURE, their priority was a TV show and godspeed to them, but maybe FACE/OFF."
Also. Woo is directing a Peacock remake of his 1989 assassin movie THE KILLER.

FAST X---sources say director Justin Lin left the sequel due to constant interference from Vin Diesel and Universal Pictures.

OBLITERATED---Netflix action-comedy series underway by the creators of COBRA KAI. The plot involves a special forces that disarms a deadly bomb in Las Vegas and gets intoxicated while celebrating. They then discover the bomb was a fake and they must find and disarm the real bomb.

BOSCH: LEGACY---Amazon Freevee renewed the series for Season 2.

THE WALKING DEAD---showrunner Angela Kang left the spinoff series about Daryl and did so before Melissa McBride also left when it was decided the series will focus only on Daryl Dixon.

JACKA**---Paramount+ is in talks for a revival series.

TRIVIA---in the classic THE TWILIGHT ZONE episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet", William Shatner played airline passenger Bob Wilson and Ed Kemmer played the flight engineer. In STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, Shatner played Capt. James T. Kirk, who became a prisoner in the Klingon penal colony Rura Penthe, "the alien's graveyard". In World War II, Kemmer's P-51 Mustang was shot down, and he became a POW in Stalag Luft III, the German POW camp made famous in THE GREAT ESCAPE.
Kemmer said, "Some of the British POW's had been there for five years! They were well organized and had built a theater for plays, debates and orchestral concerts.The orchestra was excellent and they needed a bass man. I joined immediately! I had been a musician before the war (bass and guitar). There were about 2,500 RAF Officers and a few hundred American Air Corp Officers. The British asked the Americans to put on an 'All American' play and we did ! I played Hildy Johnson in FRONT PAGE... my first acting job. The Russians got close in January, 1945 and we were marched out to a camp near Nuremberg. A few weeks later General Patton got too close and we were marched out again and headed for Moosberg. I escaped on that march hoping to reach Switzerland .... Two weeks later I was recaptured and sent to the camp at Moosberg. Only there a few days .... Liberated by Patton's tanks on April 29th."

MONARCH---Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt, are reportedly being sought to star in the Legendary Pictures/Toho Godzilla tv series on Apple TV+. Kurt Russell would play "Old Lee Shaw" set in 2015 after the San Francisco battle in the 2014 GODZILLA. Wyatt would play "Young Lee Shaw", a “a military leading man type", in the 1950s/1960s era.

LIGHT AND MAGIC---Lucasfilm/Disney+ six-part docuseries about Industrial Light and Magic will premiere on July 27.

THE WALKING DEAD---Norman Reedus commented on Melissa McBride leaving the spinoff series that is set in Europe because she felt it was "logistically untenable", “She wanted to take some time off and she’s doing that. She deserves it. I imagine those characters are going to meet back up at some point, and they might even meet up with some other characters down the road. In the meantime, [AMC] was like, ‘Hey, you wanna go on a mission?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, let’s go on a mission.'”

THE SUICIDE SQUAD---Viola Davis will return as Amanda Waller in an untitled HOB Max spinoff tv series.

WHAT HAPPENS LATER--Meg Ryan is the star/director of this romantic comedy movie also starring David Duchovny in which a couple meet many years after they had split up.

TRIVIA---in JURASSIC PARK, Cameron Thor played Lewis Dodgson, the Biosyn employee who bought 15 dinosaur embryos from InGen's Dennis Nedry. In JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION, Thor is not returning as Dodgson unlike original cast members Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and BD Wong because he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 13 year-old girl who had sought acting lessons from him in 2015. Campbell Scott will play Dodgson in DOMINION.

JOHNNY DEPP---in Johnny Depp's defamation lawsuit trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, more sordid details were revealed. Heard testified that Depp accused her of cheating on him and searched her for concealing his cocaine, "He's grabbing my breast, he's touching my thighs, he rips my underwear off, And then he proceeds to do a cavity search."
Heard added, "He was telling me, 'We're gonna conduct a cavity search, shall we?...Just shoved his fingers inside me. I just stood there staring at the stupid light. I didn't know what to do. I just stood there while he did that. He just twisted his fingers around."
Heard's defense witness, forensic psychologist Dr. Dawn Hughes, who was not Heard's psychologist, but had reviewed Heard's medical records, had four face-to-face meetings and Zoom sessions with Heard, diagnosed Heard as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after being brutalized by Depp, "There are indications, as I’ve mentioned before, of the sexual assault and the sexual abuse, and how he would, when he was angry and when he was drunk — it was mostly drug- and alcohol-fueled rage when he would throw her on the bed and try to have sex with her. Then, you know, if he was not able to perform, he would get more angry at her and blame her. We have this dynamic of blaming her for his inability to take responsibility for his behavior.”
Hughes added, “Mr. Depp performed a ‘cavity search’ and ostensibly was looking for drugs and felt it acceptable to rip off her nightgown and stick his fingers up her vagina to look for cocaine and thought maybe she was hiding it there."

KARDASHIAN SEX TAPE---Ray J, Kim Kardashian's ex-lover, said their 2002 sex tape was not leaked as claimed, but that it was his idea to sell the tape and Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, were in on the plane, “I’ve for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade-and-a-half talking about a topic I’ve never really spoken about.”
He added, “I’ve never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak. It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we’ve always been partners since the beginning of this thing.
Where in this whole story did Ray J become the person who leaked the tape and who’s made their lives miserable? How do you believe that Ray J is the enemy of all enemies when we’ve been partners from the beginning of the sex tape being released up until now? We’re all still making money.”

KING OF OIL---biomovie underway about commodities trader Marc Rich, who was convicted of wire fraud and tax evasion after signing oil deals with Iran during the Iran hostage situation and was later pardoned by President Bill Clinton after Rich's wife donated $450,000 to the Clinton library and over $1 million to Democratic campaigns. Peter Landesman (CONCUSSION) is the director.

TRIVIA---GILLIGAN'S ISLAND creator Sherwood Schwartz named the show's ill-fated charter boat after then-FCC chairman Newton Minow, who said tv was a, "vast wasteland". Minow gave the tv networks absolute power over programming which Schwartz said, "ruined television".

I haven’t heard the story yet or gone into it, I’ve been so busy with this movie [DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS]. But I think it’s cool.”
Raimi said he does not know if Neeson would be returning, “I don’t know if he’d do it, but he’d be incredible.”

STAR TREK: PICARD---Santiago Cabrera, Allison Pill, Evan Evagora and Isa Briones will not return for Season 3.

ABC---ABC fired executive producer/director Fred Savage from the reboot of his tv series after multiple accusations of inappropriate behavior. ABC also cancelled QUEENS and PROMISED LAND.

LIVES OF THE MAYFAIR WITCHES---Jack Huston will play the villain in the AMC series based on the Anne Rice novels that also stars Alexandra Daddario and Harry Hamlin.
