THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER---the series drew 25 million viewers on its first day which set a new Amazon record.
CITADEL---the Russo Brothers/Amazon Prime international spy miniseries starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas is now the second most-expensive tv project ever, just behind THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE POWER OF THE RINGS. CITADEL's budget has ballooned from $160 million to $235 million. Two cuts were made, one from the Russos and the other from writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. Amazon chose the Russo cut which led to Appelbaum and director Brian Kirk leaving the miniseries.
JOHN CARPENTER---director John Carpenter, 74, commented on being retired, "Look, I'm just a broken-down horror director trying to get along in this world, OK? That's all I'm trying to do, navigate the shoals." His current interests are wrestling, basketball, helicopters and video games, but he added he it is "fun" to meets fans "because they're always so nice."
He also commented on revisiting his career, "Talking about my own movies? God, no. I hate it. I don't want to do that. They speak for themselves. I am unable to watch most of my own movies. I become immediately very critical of what I see."
He added, "I say to myself, 'Why did I do that? I know better. Come on.' You know, 'I made a mistake there, I was too lazy, too this, too that.' "Anyway, I don't wanna talk to you about that. Those things are feelings I have inside. I'm not going to tell you what I think."
JAMES BOND---although the next James Bond will be a reboot with a new cast, Lea Seydoux commented on if she would like to return, “After all I’m not dead. It was James who died, not Madeleine. So, who knows? Maybe I’ll be back. This is like fake news, right? But if we’re serious for a moment, Madeleine drives away with her daughter right at the end because James has saved them. There’ll be a new Bond because Daniel’s Bond died but who’s to say that Madeleine won’t be back?”
She added, “I haven’t spoken to Barbara [Broccoli] about whether or not Madeleine would make an appearance in a future Bond film, a lot has to happen before that stage is reached. This is just idle speculation as we talk on the top of a mountain."
RUTHERFORD FALLS---Peacock cancelled the series.
