PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 6---producer Jerry Bruckheimer commented on rumors that Johnny Depp is not returning for the new sequel, “First of all, that’s not true...No, no, no. Johnny… if it’s up to me, he’ll be in it.”
THE MATRIX 5---writer/director Drew Goddard commented on the status of the sequel, “[It’s] still in the works. I’m in my writing cave writing. I don’t know how long I’ll be in that writing cave, but whenever I come out, I’ll have news to share.”
STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY---Season 2 just finished filming, so co-showrunner Noga Landa commented on if the Season 2 finale could also be a series finale if the series is cancelled due to mediocre ratings, “Absolutely not. We have so much story to tell. If anything – yeah, it is not the end.”
Noga added, “Nothing yet, but we’re just – we’re so happy with Season 2, and we can’t wait for everybody to see it.”
ARTEMIS---Chris Miller and Phil Lord commented on the long-gestating sci fi movie based on the Andy Weir (THE MARTIAN) novel with Miller saying, "We are still actively developing it, and there'll be more to come."
Lord added, "Yeah, the trick on that was the moon gravity, which is 1/6th Earth's gravity. It is a really tricky thing to shoot in a practical way. One of the great things about this movie is that we were able to really shoot that type of stuff. We figured out a way that we think we would be able to shoot moon gravity in a way that wouldn't cost a billion dollars."
BOUTIQUE---Paul Giamatti will star in the horror movie about an American tourist who “journeys to the eerie English seaside town that inspired the work of his favorite reclusive author but instead gets entangled with a murderous secret society permeating the whole town”.
ASTRO BOY---Ivan Reitman and Sony Pictures are developing a live-action movie based on the anime.
TRIVIA---character actor Pierre Jalbert is best known to tv fans for co-starring in the World War II tv series COMBAT! where he played Pvt. Paul "Caje" Le May. He was also a film editor on THE GODFATHER and received an Emmy nomination for the SHOGUN miniseries. Before his film career, Jalbert was captain of the Canadian Olympic Ski Team in 1948 in the Swiss Alps, but he broke his leg in practice and never skied in the Games.
One of his last roles in a major project was in the disaster sequel THE CONCORDE--AIRPORT '79, where Jalbert played Henri, the Concorde supersonic airliner's co-pilot. Ironically, in the movie's final scene, the sabotaged Concorde, with Joe Patroni (George Kennedy) as the co-pilot, crash landed in the Austrian Alps and the ski patrol arrived to save the Concorde's crew and passengers.
