Roy,

thanks SO much for the imagery of the new Austrians manning the ramparts.

They look so good up there, and with the latest couple of poses released this week, you will have an even bigger and better looking setup soon.

My first set of defenders are on order, so hopefully here next week, with the next set in a month or so, so all is going well with this project,

Keep up you great work and showing us more,

Well Done

John

Has anyone seen JJD UK site recently ????

On the "Intel and Reconnaissance" page:

http://www.jjduk.co.uk/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=14

there are pictures that Roy, 'Old Bill' has taken on his recent trip to Poland to inspect the walls of the church at Leuthen !!!!!

Here is one showing the front gate....

Check out the rest, including from inside and the other turrets.

Spectacular Display! Very cool to see you took a trip to see the ground as it looks today. I now live in Poland and will also have to make the trip there sometime soon.

Thanks for sharing all the photos as the display has developed.

Hi Dave
Thank you for your very kind comments! Only a short trip I'm afraid - but pretty much perfect. Had a good look at the Church and Churchyard and visited the monument on the Schonberg. ( Much bigger than I had thought!)

Bags of work to do on my dio yet. I think it will be some months before it's anywhere near where I want it.

Cheers, Roy.

Hi, as I have just took delivery of my latest contingent of Austrian defenders ( thanks once more James and Adam! ) I thought I'd add a quick update on my Leuthen project.

I have settled now for the format as shown in the enclosed pics. I have trimmed one of the Corner Turrets so that the whole wall line sits tight up against my room wall. Giving just the right amount of space to place the defenders.

I will have a go at a later on painting a backdrop of the Church and trees. I am also raising the terrain to enable me to give the impression of the slight drop away of the ground around the left hand turret. Any advice on what I can finish the terrain with - type of plaster, Pollyfilla???? etc, would be gratefully received!! ( Not attempted this before! )

Just also received another LEUT-06 set to try to alter slightly. You can see in the pics there is a lot of space to be filled with Prussians!

Whoa, just seen the new Austrian sets - "at the ready" and "loading" Fantastic stuff!! - better get them on order!

Cheers for now.
Roy.

Many thanks Dave, have you made it to Lutynia yet? It would be really cool ( no pun intended! ) to visit with the snow on the ground.

Cheers, Roy

Have not made it yet but am planning a trip in late Nov to the Krakow area so maybe we can do a side trip. It will depend on if my family can stand a side trip that dad is interested in...

Your latest display pics look great. Perhaps you may need to add another straight wall section to accomodate the new Austrians released yesterday. :salute::

Best wishes

My latest set of 4 Austrians arrived too this week, and have taken up position on the walls.

I have only one of each set, so it looks a bit sparse, maybe I need to double up like Roy???

But I think I'll wait while, just to see what else John has planned ??????

Hi John I like your display as well because its a great snap shot of the event. This is great because it give two collectors perspectives on methods of display. Thanks for sharing it!

Hi again Dave, hope you get to make it.

As you are working out there - perhaps you are Polish or German speaking? If so, take a good look at the board on the South side of the wall - near to the Battle commemoration cross. It is in Polish and German and seems to contain a wealth of information on the battle. I took a couple of photos of it in the hope of translating the writing. I haven't had time to try and decipher it yet, but on "blowing up" the pictures the writing isn't always clear. There are I believe, a couple of photos however of the windmills where Prince Charles was based during the battle and a couple of photos of the interior of the museum that used to be housed over the road. ( Still standing.) Also - there is a photo of the commemoration Cross with the breach in the wall behind it still in place!

Cheers, Roy.

This is shaping up to be a great little sub-range like Battle on Snowshoes.
Really like Old Bill's conversions.

Many thanks OD. I probably have slightly over estimated the number of Austrians I needed. (oops!) My wall will definitely be staying that length though.

After visiting the site I'm pretty sure scale wise, that is pretty much the right length of the East wall. ( It's quite hard to figure what with the school building being incorporated into it. )

I'd rather have too many Austrians than not enough! ( I can always stand some down! )

Cheers, Roy.

Hi Roy,

No to Polish at least not yet as it is a very complicated language! German I can read and speak alright so if you send me your photo I will try and translate it for you.

That really is most generous of you Dave. Thank you so much! I'll send it e-mail in full res. Don't know how much you will be able to make out but anything at all I would be very grateful for.

If you do glean anything from it could you put it on here so everyone else can share it?

Many thanks, Roy.
