My Leuthen collection - it's starting to come together......... (1 Viewer)

As there was a fair bit of interest in how I went about doing my conversions I am taking pics of the two I'm working on at the moment - ( not finished yet! )

I thought it may give anyone interested a better idea of what I actually do:

LEUT-03 plus my main working tools:

This LEUT-03 conversion is the most ambitious attempt for me yet. (!)

I score around the paintwork of the parts to be removed with a scalpel blade - so as to disturb the paint as little as possible. Then a combination of digging in with the scalpel and moving figure side to side on the base to release it.
I then razor sawed the right hand holding the musket off.

Then I razor cut into the left leg behind the knee and with the scalpel carved a deep V shaped notch into it

I then bent the left leg carefully back into the notch and filled it with Rapid Araldite. ( The change of leg angle will then enable both the legs to sit on the base when finished. )
I then cut around the left arm join with the scalpel and very carefully worked the blade into the join until it the arm came away - I was lucky this time - it came away with the locating pin intact.

I then razor sawed the hand off the removed arm - to be re-positioned. I drilled a hole in the hand and arm and glued a pin in for support.

You can see in the pic I have already done this with the right hand - I used a spare hand I had in my spares box.

The arm has been bent to the desired angle using the same technique as for the left leg. This was really tricky, took ages! You can see the pin in arm ready to be cut to size for the hand.

This LEUT-05 conversion is a lot simpler. I will be positioning this figure lying on his side. I have filed the flat edges off his legs and razor sawed his right hand off - I will be replacing it with the hand and

musket from the LEUT-03 conversion.

That's about it , will post finishing pics - when they're finished!! Hope these give a better understanding of the conversions. Cheers, Roy.

I got the other 2 parts of the wall last week, and this is my new layout.

gate.JPG

Again I have used some Tradition of London Austrians to man the walls, as I await the JJD figures which I hope will be coming out soon.

When I get a new cupboard, an IKEA Billy, I'll be able to set it up nicely, but until then, its on top.

maybe I should have more Prussians, as its looking a tad empty?

Hi, update on my LEUT-05 conversion:

Hand glued on, and paintwork touched up. The conversion is on the left of picture, original on the right:

LEUT-03 finally finished. A few pics:

Figure now complete. A new hole drilled in base and heel of foot for locating pin - ready to bond together. ( I used the base the opposite way round. )

Pic of my latest figure re-jig (Leut-05). This brings my Grenadiers up to 30 in number - all different to one degree or another. After setting them all up I reckon I need possibly another 10 or so for my dio.
a few pics to follow showing all 30. It's very difficult for me to get pictures with all the figures in focus ( Point and shoot camera - no special lighting etc.) Anyway, I gave it a go!

WOW,

that looks great with 30 figures, all different poses, attacking the gate, a true masterpiece of conversion!

Yes, I'm also looking forward to the Austrian release, and going on the one figure we have seen already, they will be just as good as these attckers.

Yes, I'm also looking forward to the officer, NCO, drummer and (I hope) standard bearer, which I haven't seen in the paintings, but will grace the charge to the walls.

I feel it will be a great second half of the year, so bring the on John.......

Well Done (so far) and keep this thread going until the diorama is filled.

John

Hi again........(!) I have just received the first Roth Wurzberg defenders for my walls - thank you yet again JJD UK!

I thought the Prussian Grenadiers would be a very hard act to follow but John certainly hasn't let us down. These are splendid fellows - very worthy opponents for the Grenadiers!

I'm now waiting patiently for my pre-ordered "At the ready" sets to arrive. ( Uh Oh...... Looks like I'm going to need a lot more Grenadiers........ )

Hi Pete - thanks!

I'm just trying the small building out. It represents one of the village structures that were around the Churchyard. You can see them in the background of the Carl Rochling painting.

It's not really the right style at all but I think it sort of works? Not sure it will stay!

Cheers.
