It will be interesting to see how much of a flash-in-the pan Lin turns out to be. The media loves to build these guys up and then tear them down. Most rookies hit the wall in the NBA, but maybe the shortened season is to his advantage. Anyway it's an interesting story and the NBA needs all the help it can get. But beware the backlash when fans get tired of hearing about him.

He's indicated he wants it to be about the team. He's no flash in the pan, trust me. He was doing some dishing and swishing last night! 19 points and 13 assists, plus 5 rebounds! Six players in double figures and

It's the 50th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game against the Knicks. The game was played in Hershey, PA for some reason. That's one record not likely to be broke. Wilt was a beast. One of the most dominant forces in the history of sports.

For those who have NBA TV (216 on Direct TV), there is a special one hour program about the 100 point game, 7pm EST.

Until I read an article about the game this morning, I had no idea it was played in Hershey, apparently at a small 5,000 seat arena.

Wilt averaged 50 points per game one season! And he was a terrible FT shooter. Think about that. And he wasn't playing in some inferior NBA league of the past but against some very good teams. Including the great Celts teams. That is likely another record never to be broken. What a force that guy was in his day. Even later in his career with the Lakers he won a championship.

Wilt was the man. Never had the team around him that Russell had, so never had the titles, but he owned the court. I have never seen anyone as dominant as he was. I think he averaged 50 points per game the year he scored the 100 and even more impressive to me is the fact that he averaged 20 rebounds per game, for his career. Just incredible. I miss THAT era of the NBA. -- Al

Knicks have been spiraling downward yet since Carmelo Anthony rejoined the lineup. Anthony couldn't stand Mike D'antoni and vice versa.

D'antoni had enough and has quit. The lunatics taking over the asylum. Too bad. Anthony screwed up what had been a nice story.

Well, the Lakers traded away Derek Fisher who was a class act. The guy lost a couple of steps over the years, but he played hard, hit big shots and was an all around nice guy. His reward is to get dumped and traded. That's the modern sports world.

Time doesn't forgive... Probably the right time to trade him and think of the future, faster legs and more points from the point guard. Will Sessions be the solution? Only time will tell but this was probably the time to take this gamble. Lakers need to rejuvenate.

Knicks have had two good wins under the new coach. Garden was rockin' last night as they destroyed the Pacers. Steve Novak was again on fire as he administered some Novicaine to the pacers. Tonight they play at Indiana so we'll see what happens.

Streak up to five. Three quality wins against playoff teams: Pacers (2) and 76ers. Did lose Jeffries in the process to a knee injury; that doesn't bode well. Stifling defense held 76ers to under 80. 3 back in the Atlantic Division.

Almost 0.500 now... Change of coach must have psyched them up:rolleyes2:... Congrats.:wink2:

I'm going with Oklahoma City and Miami in the finals. I hate to say it, but this is likely the year the Heat win it. Should be an interesting series though. OKC is a great young team. My poor Lakers likely get ripped in the second round. Old, slow and poorly coached. At one point this year they had the lowest points per game of any Laker team dating back to the 50's. And that's with Kobe leading the league in scoring!

Where are Jerry, Elgin, Wilt, Coop, Kareem, and Magic when you need them. Now those were the real Lakers. -- Al

Have to give old Phil credit, he knows when to abandon ship, first with the Bulls as they slipped into mediocrity, now the Lakers.

God forbid Phil stick with a team on the way down and try to coach what is left instead of sitting back and depending on the stars (Jordan/Pippen/Shaq/Kobe) to win him all those rings so he can catch Red.....................

Well I guess LINSANITY!!!!!! for 2012 is over as he's out for 6 weeks, that is unless the Knicks make a run to the NBA finals.........................nice 15 minutes for him...............

with the shortened NBA schedule this year...playoffs begin soon...as most teams only have less than 10 games left in this minimized schedule this year...

as a Lakers fan...Boston and San Antonio really scare me...especially with the shortened season...I think it gives those old legs an edge...not having to play an entire grueling full NBA schedule...Duncan, Ginobli, Allen and Garnett are getting up there in age...but their team play is still amazing...

the way Boston handled Miami last night in South Beach last night is really setting the tone for the Celts late run this year...not to mention that they handled Miami pretty easily at home last week also...but honestly...Miami seems like a "poser" to me...with all that talent...(Lebron/Wade/Bosh) they just can't seem to gel...maybe it's just my lack of faith in Lebron...but the way Garnett played last night...coupled with their two losses to Boston this week...Boston has got to scare Miami...

Boston's 1 point loss last week to San Antonio at home kind of surprised me...but they got off to a slow start and had to rally to make it close...I think the Chicago loss the following night was the aftermath letdown from the Spurs loss...

San Antonio is on a roll too...all business...going 9-1 in their last 10 games...I'm not discounting OK City...if the Spurs meet OK City in the playoffs...they will have their hands full...but I think San Antonio's experience will get them through...

Chicago...even with their injuries...I can't guess how far they will go...but Lord that is an energy packed team...

the Lakers...again...this year...they just don't seem to have any heart...I'm gonna pin 2 losses on Bynum personally...his late game ejections are brutal for a team with no bench...getting booted in both games against Houston...cost them 2 possible wins...and home court advantage in the playoffs is so big...he's got to grow up and put the team ahead of his personal feelings...I'm amazed they beat New Orleans on the road with out Kobe...but I can't bear to even watch them tonight against San Antonio in Texas without Kobe...it's gonna be ugly...

Boston is ranked 4th in the East...they are my dark horse...I like San Antonio in the West...

I won't watch the Lakers tonight at San Antonio...I'll have to find something to keep me busy...^&grin

I love this guy............from your lips to God's ears...........18-7 since the all star break.

And Garnett looks reborn playing the center position, Bradley has played great, he should start with Allen coming off the bench shooting lights out............was really impressed with that effort last night...............Miami doesn't scare me one bit; the Bulls yes, but not Miami.
