Well, according to Da Mayor, Mumbles Menino, as long as K J and Hondo are drivin' da Celts, ah dey shooh go all da way! What a maroooon. ^&grin

Yeah, ok great; I'll take him over that mental midget running New York; passes a law that you can't sell sugared beverages in the city over 16oz?

Really?

What a clueless boob.

Clueless? Really. Started a billion dollar company.

Oh, yes, he hails from Beantown. Yup, he's clueless.

Yes Brad, he's clueless.

No sugar based beverage sales over 16oz.

He's FDR, Lincoln and Kennedy all rolled into one.

Franklin D Romanowski, Harry Lincoln and Ralph Kennedy.

So we'll be getting the so called people's final, despite a valiant effort from the tremendous Celtics (I bet there is a long long Rondo road ahead...). You've got to love it, Kevin Durant v. LeBron James, arguably the best NBA players today. But also great teams getting ready to clash. OKC in seven?

About OKC and to quote someone from another area^&grin, «I have seen the future of the NBA and its name is OKC». Last year's beaten Western Conference finalists, this year's Western Champions after 4-0 against Dallas, 4-1 against the Lakers, 4-2 against the Spurs (these teams combined had some 11 finals titles in the last 13 years I believe) a 2012 regular season 47-19 record. They are young, fast, embarrassingly (to all the other competitors)athletic and hugely talented. Kevin Durant averages close to 30 points per game, he is a World Champion with Team USA, has NBA scoring title in back to back seasons, and he is...23 years old! You also have young Russel Westbrook (another team USA star going to the Olympics) and Sixth Man of the Year James Harden (another one going to the Olympics) plus a host of great role players. By now they are not exactly unknowns and I am sure they will be a dominant force in the coming NBA years (so will the Heat, whether you like them or not).Do watch them play, you won't regret it.

All IMHO, of course^&grin,

The Celtics ran out of gas, up at the half, could not close out the Heat.

The end of an era, the big three will be broken up now for sure.

Garnett played great for most of the series, Pierce aside from the game winning 3 in game 5 was a no show.

The Celtics were the better team in games 2, 3, 4 and 5, the Heat the better team in games 1, 6 and 7.

The refs handed Miami game 2, plain and simple.

James came up huge in game 6, have to give him credit, he put the team on his back for that must win.

This is the final the NBA wanted and they got it, should be an epic series, the two best teams in the league now and as well as the future.

And Al, the Thunder came from Seattle, the ex Supersonics.

Paulo, thanks for the info on OKC as I know nothing about them. George, thanks for answering my question about where they migrated from as I don't follow the NBA close enough to keep track of the travelling franchises and the only personel I might be familiar with would have had to play college ball in the ACC. I have heard of James and I don't care for his cult of personality, so I guess I will be rooting for the Seattle/OKC SuperThunder to win the title. -- Al

I'm with you Al, it's hard to keep track of all these teams and the way they move around.

James/Wade/Bosh are extremely easy to root against, the three of them are incredibly arrogant and self entitled, specifically James, he plays basketball like a linebacker, driving to the hoop throwing elbows, traveling all the time, setting illegal screens non stop yet he rarely gets called for fouls and when he does, he throws a temper tantrum.

I will take great pleasure in seeing them lose to the Thunder; if there is a sports God, they will get smoked in 5 or 6 games and if not, they will win a title and nobody outside of Miami will be happy about it, specifically the poor fans in Cleveland who James thumbed his nose at on the way out of town..........

You're welcome, as you can see I've been following the NBA, very much like basketball.

Yes George, but after all don't they all travel in the NBA? An aside: I am very much looking forward to watching Team USA at the Olympics.

The Celts gave it a good run. They probably got as further than they should have against Miami. The good news is that the Heat should be good and tired against the younger OKC team. And that means trouble. I"m going with OKC in seven.

Yes, you are right, they all travel.

The NBA is really quite a joke, the refs are the story more than the players.

If you are a star like James or Durant, you get all the calls your way and older guys don't; case in point in game 7 Garnett got called not once, but twice for rinky tink ticky tack illegal screens that forced Doc Rivers to sit him much of the first half. Garnett when he was younger rarely got those called on him, now that he is older, he doesn't get away with it anymore, I think he got called for five illegal screens in the series with the Heat. James sets illegal screens constantly; we'll see if he gets away with it five years from now.

Sterns greased the skids to get the match up he wanted in the finals and I am sure he's happy that one of his prized major stars will be getting a ring now no matter what.

Hockey is certainly not that way; no offense to Devils or Kings fans, but do you really think the NHL wanted that match up in the finals, no they did not, but both of those teams earned their way there and they got there fair and square.

The NBA is a circus, the only thing missing is the tent.

Yes, I saw that game and those fouls on Garnett looked like harsh calls, at least from where I saw them^&grin...
Meanwhile OKC are already one up, I have to say I feel for the Heat, they look like the underdogs here and the team everybody loves to hate, maybe I should root for them^&grin...

The Thunder are incredible, Durant has more moves than Ex-Lax, they ran the Heat out of the building. Durant is like spiderman out there, the Heat look old vs him and the Thunder, yet they are a relatively young team, it's pretty amazing to watch.

These two teams will be like the Celtics/Lakers of the 80's, both of them fighting it out with each other for the title every year for awhile...................

Miami's shooting was "ultra red hot" in the first half...everything fell....Shane Battier is not gonna score 17 points again...as hot as the Heat's shooting was in the first half...which was lights out...they still couldn't hold on...Miami can't rely on that percentage of shooting for an entire game...much less a series...it's not realistic...

Oklahoma is gonna grind on them...too young...too atheletic...too fast...too good...and too relentless...their core players are 23 years of age and under....

Lebron may be the best player on the floor...(MVP debateable)...

but Durant can match him in points (36-30) all day long...Durant's 17 points in the 4th quarter showed Lebron...who only had 7 points in the 4th quarter...how a star closes a game...Durant looked like George Gervin or Michael Jordan on some of his dunks...I swear it looked like he lept from the 3 point line when he dunked...

their "BIG 3" far excell Miami's "BIG 3"...the role players and bench favor OKC even more...

with the homecourt playoff format of 2-3-2...I can't see Miami hanging more than 6 games...OKC will take Game 2 and then take one of the next three at Miami...they will close in Game 6 at home...

OKC's a young team...the NBA better watch out...barring injuries...they may win multiple titles...

I agree with everything you said Mike, the Thunder are incredibly athletic, Durant is a phenom, like you said, on one of his dunks, it looked like he leaped from the free throw line and dunked over James.

It's almost a certainty with Rose blowing out his knee these two teams will be back in the finals next year..............

Yes, I can only view Chicago in their way, with a healthy Rose. Some teams might develop in the future too, Indiana or Minnesotta, who knows, but for now...
I've also read that salary cap matters do hamper the Heat's bench depth, too much $$$$ spent on LB, Wade and Bosh, no room for a better bench...

Salary cap restrictions might hamper OKC next year. They probably won't be able to keep both Ibaka and Harden.
