Really enjoyed the Ravens game, since the Ravens won, of course.:wink2: Still had some 'Doh!' moments with the dropped passes and such. Was impressed with the way Flacco played, stayed cool, and marched the team down the field to win at the end. Flacco looked like one of the NFL's best this time, but I sure wish he was a might more consistent. At any rate, it was a great win in a hard-fought, old-school, football game. -- Al

Saints cruising...........................:)
Nothing more need to be said.......^&grin

Man, what a game!!! my Ravens sweep the Steelers!!!as much as I despise the Steelers that team is always a hard game, hard hitting/old school football/no doubt the best rivalery in the NFL, I'll soak up my win tonite, but as sure as the day is long, you bet we will most likely have a play-off rematch with them...Sammy

Sammy,
Congrats to you, it was a disappointing loss on this side, but your team wanted it more than we did at the end. Good game, just a tough one. BUT, alas, things between two really good teams never go as scripted, I thought we had you this time. Anyhow, we will hopefully still be there in the playoffs, I am just afraid the injuries are starting to add up. Hopefully your Ravens stay healthy, sometimes I think the league is more a war of attrition than skills!

Good luck rest of the season.

Tom

I agree Tom those injuries are hurting Pitt, but again this is a series when both teams play to their capability it's always gonna be close, that first game in Baltimore was a throwaway game, (glad we won) but this was a real win, not because of a bunch of turnovers like in the 1st game, I do believe that the AFC North is between these 2 teams, not sold on any wins for Cinncy, they have to play both Ravens/Steelers twice in their last 8 games, doesn't bode well for them, so like I said last nite, I'm sure we will see each other somewhere in the playoffs, hopefully in Baltimore for a change...Sammy

One thing for sure guys, we are going to find out if Cinncy is for real in those 4 games against the Ravens and Steelers. I don't think so but what do I know? -- Al

Isn't it interesting how the schedule makers seem to put the tough games in bunches? The Bengals will be playing the Steelers (6-3) twice, the Ravens (6-2) twice and the Texans (6-3) in the next few weeks. The Jets are approaching the end of six game stretch where they played the Ravens (6-2) in Baltimore, the Raiders in Oakland (4-4), the Patriots in Foxboro (5-3), the Dolphins -the only break - the Chargers (4-4), the Bills (5-3) in Orchard Park, and the Patriots. The Giants are just starting perhaps the most brutal stretch of any schedule this season, the Patriots in Foxboro (5-3), the 49ers in San Fransisco (6-1), the Eagles (whose record does not reflect their talent or expectations), New Orleans in the Big Easy (6-2), then the Packers (8-0).

Once each of these teams completes these very difficult stretches, I think we will have a very good idea of whether they are contenders or pretenders. If the Giants go 3-2 over the 5 game stretch, they will be 8-4 with an excellent chance to win the NFC East, and will be arguably the second best team in the NFC behind the Packers. Just for the record, in the pre-season, once they were hit by the rash of injuries, I picked them to go 1-4 over this stretch, and finish up 7-9. We'll have to see if my heart (which is pulling for 3-2) or my head (which says 1-4) is correct.

Based upon yesterday's NY victories, I think the Jets are in a good position to beat the Pats next week. A good sign was that as they were leaving the field yesterday, they were talking Pats, not overly reflecting on the game they just won.

On the Giants, I think they are in a really good position. Except for Green Bay, none of these teams are the 85 Bears. I think they can beat the 49ers, who are just beginning to taste some success, the Eagles and Saints. Just got to take 'em one at a time. GB has to lose sooner or later and their defense is porous. At some point they will be had.

I hope you are right. I have to say after seeing the Eagles lose at home to the Bears last night and go to 3-5, I am beginning to think they are far more pretender than contender. And this after handing the Cowboys a beating the week before. Which team is the real Eagles, last week's worldbeater, or this week's average team with a weak defense? Maybe the drubbing they handed the Cowboys (which had me believing they had finally put it together) was a result of the two week preparation they had as a result of the bye. Andy Reid is pretty much unbeatable coming off a bye, and maybe with the extra week of film study, he just outschemed the Cowboys.

Good Grief. In an indication of just how badly the Redskins are thought of, they are 3.5 point underdogs to the Dolphins in Miami on Sunday. Now, just how bad is this? Well, Miami has just one win and that was earned last week. In my estimation, even if the Dolphins were winless, this would be rated even or Dolphins by one. The Redskins are just that bad. No Qb, no running game or passing game, and a hit or miss defense. The Redskins are in a deep trench and can't see out of it. -- Al

Too much East coast BS IAM A BEARS FAN , and i will be the first to say GREEN BAY is the ****T!!

I'm a closet Bears fan. Have always liked them. Finally ordered a Bears cap, with the "B" on it.

Watched some of the Raiders-Chargers game. My impression is that Oakland might be a contender. Glad to see old Norv has the 'bolts firing on all cylinders.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Line is now Dolphins by 4. None of the local sports prognosticaters are picking the Redskins to win. That might be a good enough reason to think the 'skins could win. I have no faith in the 'skins, but I am beginning to think that they can win this. Just a game-day hunch, but no money on it.:wink2: -- Al

I picked the Red Skins to win this one - the Dolphins played harder after blowing that game to Denver and becoming a laughing stock, giving the Giants a good game, then finally beating the Chiefs (which I picked them to do), but now that they have a win, they are going to go back to being the same old lame Dolphins - after all they want to win the Luck sweepstakes.

Indy is an interesting pick this week. I took the Jaguars, because I don't believe the Colts have any pride without Peyton, but if there was any game they could win this year it would be this one.

In addition to the 'skins game, I am also looking forward to seeing the Ravens but the games that should be real interesting are the Giants-49ers and the later Pats-Jets game. Those last two should be good, tough games. Still not sure about the 49ers and this will be the first time I have seen the Jets this season. Looks like the point spreads are largely home field driven. Gonna be fun. -- Al

After that performance last night vs Oregon on the big stage, I'm not sure I'd want to win that sweepstakes..........

He's considered NFL ready and I don't think last night will change that. There's apparently a big debate going in the Colts front office about whether to take him or not and if they do whether to trade Manning away.

I didn't catch the game -- college football generally does nothing for me, its usually some huge team of top nothch prospects, 4-5 of which are going to the NFL, against some cupcake with kids half the size and speed. The really top teams only play each other once or twice during the regular season, and there are no playoffs, just ridiculous bowl games.

That being said, all the college draft experts are calling this guy Luck the best quarterback prospect since John Elway. Whatever team sinks to the bottom, they are going to draft Luck and take their chances, as with the (ridiculous, emasculating) rule changes, its almost impossible to effectively defend the pass. If you are within 3 feet of a receiver who drops a pass, it is either pass interference or personal foul, hitting a defenseless receiver. And god forbid you touch a quarterback. This league used to be about running the ball and defending the rush. With these new rules, almost any competent quarterback can throw for 300+ yards on any given week.

Look at the Packers: they have the best quarterback in the league, no running game to speak of, and the 31st ranked defense, yet they are 8-0! The Giants vs. the 49ers today is going to be a good test of this: The Giants are near the bottom of the league in both running the ball and defending the run, while the 49ers are among the best at both. The Giants have one of the elite passing games in the league, the 49ers one of the worst. The Giants are playing on the road, on the west coast (where they traditionally stink). 10 years ago it would have been a no brainer - the Giants would not have had a chance. Now, with the "two hand touch" passing game rules, its almost a pick-em. If the Giants win this game, I expect them to benefit from at least 2 pass interference/roughing the passer penalties in key situations thanks to the new rules.

Looking forward to the Giants/49ers game, should be a good one, won't even bother watching Patriots/Jets, the Jets will win this one big, I say 27-14, with Firemarshall Bill and his mug only a mother could love being on the screen 900 times, so will fatso flashing that piano toothed smile and fist pumping his brains out touchdown after touchdown, plus the fellon Plax will probably score three TD's and I won't have to see him sitting on the sidelines with his hat on crooked flashing gang symbols to his homes in prison.

This will be 3 losses in a row for the fading Patriots, they're defense is God awful, plus they've got a ton of injuries with Mayo, Spikes and Chung all out of an already piss poor defense, not to mention their starting center and left tackle are both out too, it will be a DIZZASTA.............
