As I had indicated 5 weeks ago, my head told me the 5-2 Giants would go 1-4 in the next 5 games, while my heart hoped for 3-2. Well, my head won out. Despite the fact that the Giants have lost 4 in a row, and are 6-6, in the weakest ever NFC East, they still hold their destiny, and their Coach's job, in their own hands.
Tonight is put up or shut up time for Coughlin's Giants. I have been calling for his firing since the year before they miraculously and fortuitously won the Super Bowl. If they beat the Cowboys tonight, they are in control of the Division, and have to win only 2 of their last 3 games to clinch a home playoff game and save Coughlin's job. If they lose tonight, they are for all intents and purposes eliminated, have lost 5 in a row, and will hopefully be bringing in Bill Cowher as their new head coach next year. So, while I will be pulling hard for the Giants tonight, if a loss costs Coughlin his job, so be it.
