N.f.l. 2012 (1 Viewer)

We got hammered today with a big storm, rain and strong winds most of the day, if it had been about 15 degrees cooler, we'd have about a foot of snow on the ground right now.

The temperature for Saturday at gametime is predicted to be about 19 degrees, dipping down to 5 by the end of the game.

We'll see how Tebow likes that forecast..........................
The question is if that weather might actually be right up Denver's alley. They are run oriented and for the most part, the less Tebow has to pass, the better. A frozen field will be a problem for both teams, as will those kind of temps, but Denver is hardly a southern town so I don't know if it will be a particular advantage, either way. A bad field with fridgid temps might hurt a pass oriented team. At any rate, it is going to be a good game. Who will win out, Super Tom or Tebow Time? -- Al

I tend to agree. The worse the conditions the better for Denver's ugly offense. It won't be enough though. NE has King Brady XIV of Brentwood, great coaching and the playoff experience. Should still be an easy win for the Pats.

I think you are quite right. Just don't see Denver winning this one. Pittsburgh was their high water mark. Tom Terrific too much to overcome for Tebow Time. -- Al

Regarding the Saints 49ers game, here's an interesting article that was in today's NY Times Fifth Down Blog:

Great Outdoors? Not the Saints

As the Saints prepare to play at San Francisco for their divisional round playoff game, they take a shaky 3-2 record outdoors with them.

The losses were at Green Bay and Tampa Bay. The wins were at Jacksonville, Carolina and Tennessee. But the latter two victories required a last-minute touchdown by Pierre Thomas and a goal-to-go defensive stop at game’s end.

A year ago, the Saints lost their playoff game outdoors at Seattle, which had a losing record, and needed a field goal as time expired to beat San Francisco in the regular season.

The Saints have played one outdoor game since Oct. 16, and they have never won a road playoff game (0-4).

Does not look promising for the Saints. I kinda like the 49er's in this one but I don't think it will be easy, bad road/outside record or not. Tough to bet against Brees. -- Al

I don't think it will be easy for the 49ers either because their offense ain't great. However, their defense is ferocious and they get Patrick Willis back, not to mention they have Aldon Smith, who I think is fabulous.

I hear people saying Brees this, Brees that, but that is all based on the Brees of the Superdome. This ain't that Brees. Yes, in the dome, forget about it, away, I don't think so. Doesn't mean they won't win tomorrow but it will be a tight game, either way.

Yeah but the weather report for San Fran Sunday is sunny, with record high termperatures in the 60's, and moderate wind. Forget Tebow, looks like God is pulling for the Saints . . . ^&grin

That weather forecast IS bad news for the 49er's. I doubt that it would be much more favorable inside a dome. -- Al

Weather, shmeather. They played five outdoor games, four in September and October (2-2) and one in December (against Tennessee, a win).

I see no reason to change the pick.

I hope you're right, because the one team in the playoffs I can't see the Giants having any chance to beat is the Saints in New Orleans. I don't expect the Giants to win this week, but I have to admit, they are starting to make believers of me. They have already had a way better season than I expected, so a win this week would be icing on the cake. If they do manage to win (a very big if), and the 49ers pull off the upset (another big if), then the pressure goes back on the Giants, because they really should be able to beat the 49ers.

Anybody want to see a 9-7 Giant team play an 8-8 Bronco team in the Superbowl? Louis, you need not answer as I feel pretty sure how you will respond.:wink2::D -- Al

05.30am Sunday morning here the alarm is set, shotgun breaky and watch the SAINTS kick some 49er,s ARSE....................^&grin

Yeah, that would be just wonderful.......:rolleyes2:

From what I've been told, all of this Tebow talk is not sitting well with Brady, expect a monster effort from him in less than 23 hours from now.

Taking nothing away from Denver, wonderful story and all, but if the Patriots lose this game, the shine is off the apple 100% regarding Belichick and Brady, end of story, 2004 was a lifetime ago..................

There is really no way the Broncos can beat the Pats. Brady will wear them down. Of the four games this weekend, the AFC ones are close to being locks.

The game I feel most secure about is the 49er game. There's a reason the Saints have never won a playoff road game.

Al, as much as I would like to see the Giants pull off another miracle run, I have already stated that at 9-7, they didn't really deserve to make the playoffs. That being said, as I recall the Packers last year went 10-6 and clinched a playoff berth on the last day of the season (the Packers along with the 10-6 Eagles, edged out the 10-6 Giants on tiebreakers for both the Division Title and the Wildcard), entered the playoffs as the 6th seed, went into the 14-2 Atlanta Falcons house, knocked them out of the playoffs, and won it all. So if the Giants knock off the 15-1 Packers in Lambeau (still unlikely), and then beat the 13-3 49ers (a possibility) or Saints (it would take a miracle) to go to 12-7 and make it to the Superbowl, I would be **** proud of them, even if they really should have missed the playoffs.

As you should be. No one around DC wants to give back the Redskin SB XVII trophy just because the season was a strike-shortened 9 games. A win is a win. -- Al

Aldon is the man!

Welcome to the playoffs New Orleans!
Hey Brad, looks like the Saints can't play outside, as you have said. I guess the sunlight is blinding them. :D:D:D It is 17-0, with 3 TO's but still too early to count out Brees, unless this is the beginning of a classic choke job. -- Al

The Saints seem to have solved that pesky outdoor/sunlight problem and we now have a football game at 17-14. -- Al

Only reason the Saints aren't winning is because of the TOs. 49ers are hitting pretty hard.
