N.f.l. 2012 (2 Viewers)

I know it was only Tampa Bay and K.C. but my Lions are looking good. I honestly can't remember the last time I believed the Lions had a out side chance to make the playoffs.
Great surprise of the season. The Lions and Redskins undefeated after 2 games. Who'da thunk it?:p;):D -- Al

Glad to see the Lions gett'n some love for a change, in some ways they are my baseballs (Os') football team, meaning lotta losing for both for a long time, so if there is hope for the Lions then there maybe hope for my Orioles!!!...Sammy

As if things couldn't get any worse for the Giants, they have now lost Hixon for the season with an ACL. He was the one who made that circus catch the other night.

They are really snakebitten this year.

Yeah, they'll be lucky to win 6 games this season. On the plus side, Coughlin and his staff will be gone, so they may get good again next year under Bill Cowher.

Man, you just love Coughlin don't you. It's not really his fault that Reese missed the boat on free agent signings or that they've suffered all these injuries.

I've never liked Coughlin, and I like the special teams coach and the offensive coordinator even less. I was calling for his firing the year they won the Superbowl. He caught lightning in a bottle that season, but other than thet year he has never won a playoff game as the Giants coach. This is his 8th season with the Giants very talented team, and he will have missed the playoffs for the third straight year. He still refuses to fire Kevin Gilbride (who flat out stinks as an offensive coordinator) and the special teams coach (the Giants have perineally fielded the leagues worst special teams every season since they hired Coughlin).

You sound like my son, who calls him "the old man", but he's a crazed Jets fan. A lot of what you may say is true but he did win the Super Bowl, and not just any Super Bowl but the one ruining the perfect Pats season, so in my eyes that makes his tenure a good one. Kind of reminds me of the mid 80 Mets, who also won only one championship. Yes, both teams could have done a lot better but they still won. You can't take that away from Coughlin.

All true, but I feel the same about Davey Johnson as I do about Coughlin. Had the mid-80's Mets been managed by a good manager, with the talent they had, especially pitching, they should have won at least 3 championships. The Mets won in '86 despite Johnson, not because of him, and I feel the same way about Coughlin's Superbowl. In 2007, the Giants had a good quarterback, the best running game in the league (two 1,000 yard backs plus Ahmad Bradshaw in "Earth, Wind & Fire") and a terrific defense, and still nearly missed the playoffs (principally because Coughlin kept suspending Plaxico Burress during the regular season). The players got pissed about not winning the Division, and being the underdog against Tampa Bay, and went on a tear (with Burress, whom Coughlin kept suspending for not being early to meetings, being their best offensive player against Green Bay and the Patriots).

What do u think guys , New England all the way

Someone on the local station up here said "What do you think, 16-0 again?".......Good God, why say something like that, it worked out so well the last time they did that...................just win more than you lose and make the playoffs, don't worry about the record.............this week is going to be an upset special vs the Bills, mark that one down in pen.........

Got some good match-ups on for today. Will be watching and rooting for the Ravens over the Rams and hoping that the Eagles-Giants game ends in a bloody draw, leaving the door open for the Redskins, who hopefully will beat Dallas Monday night.:rolleyes2: I also would like to see the Jets-Oakland game and the Buffalo-NE game, but I can't get them on the tube.:( Should still be a good day for a little football. -- Al

George, may I borrow your crystal ball? I didn't see this one coming.{eek3} -- Al

It is early in the game, 1st quarter in fact, but the UMd rookie, Torrey Smith, has caught 3 TD passes for 133 yds, to put Baltimore up 21-0 against the Rams. Go Ravens. -- Al

Some good games and a couple of upsets. Never saw the Bills upset of the Patriots coming and I thought the Jets would beat Oakland, although I thought that it would be close. Good thing I don't bet. Biggest surprise to me was the Steelers having to go down to the last 4 seconds to beat the Colts. I thought that game should have been a walkover for Pittsburgh. -- Al

Thought I read those TD receptions were his first catches. Terps sure could have used him for another yr. Chris

Ain't that the truth.:rolleyes2: From the looks of the Terps in the Temple game, they need a lot more than that.{sm2} -- Al

The Redskins make me want to rip what is left of my hair out of my head. Should have won that game in Dallas. {sm2} -- Al

Feel the same about the Jets-Raiders game. Just now coming out of a deep funk.

Been a good day for the Redskins, so far. First, they stumbled past the Rams 17-10. Then the Cowboys pull a huge gag job against the Lions, losing 34-30, after leading 27-3 with 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Ugly! And the Eagles and SuperVick went down the tubes to the 49er's, 24-23. Yes sir, a good day. -- Al

You forgot about the Giants, with whom the Redskins are now tied.
