Looks like Sanchez may be going the way of Flacco: backwards! My son is ready to get rid of him {eek3}

The jury is still out on Sanchez, but the fact of the matter is he's brought the Jets to two strait AFCCG's, no small accomplishment.

He's done a great job of managing playoff games, not making killer mistakes and keeping the game close, can't ask for more than that..................I still say the Jets are the best team in the AFC East.

Buffalo looks like it is for real. 23 minutes into the game and the Eagles are being dismantled, 21-7. Don't know which is more shocking, the early season success of the Bills or the early season collapse of the Eagles. If the Eagles end up losing, I guess I'd vote for the collapse option. -- Al

The Bills win and the Eagles are the surprise of the season for me. The Bills may be a dangerous team but they have to do something about a defense that has given up 450+ yards in 4 straight games. Good lord, that's a lot of yards! -- Al

The Redskins get to bask in the glory of first place in the NFC East for another week.:p The Eagles and Giants are beaten and Dallas is on bye. We'll take it. Boy, anyone got any answers as to why the preordained SB champions, aka the Eagles, are going down the tubes so badly? They have looked bad. I reckon we'll see if the Redskins have made any realistic progress when they host the downtrodden Eagles next week. The way our luck rolls, the Eagles will get well and stomp us.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Well, the other shoe dropped today. The Giants kept running the ball on pretty much every 1st and 2nd down, despite the fact that with Brandon Jacobs out, they averaged about 1-2 yards per carry, and on 3rd down and long, Manning was getting hit all day. Kevin Gilbride is flat out awful at calling an offense. The Giants were pinned deep on a punt, and I kept saying to myself, "please don't run it here, its going to be a safety." Sure enough, they ran on first down, right into the teeth of a run blitz, and it ended up a safety. Twice in the last 5 minutes, they had a first and goal inside the 10, and both times a false start screwed them up. Then, with a chance to pull it out despite a flat out horrendous performance by everyone on the team not named Manning or Cruz, Manning hits Cruz in the hands at the 6 yard line, he tips it up, its intercepted and returned 94 yards.

Fire Kevin Gilbride, get some offensive linemen who can block, and maybe this team could be decent. As things stand, we are back on a 7-9 pace the way I see the rest of the schedule playing out.

Vikings win....Vikings win!

Amazing they could win by so much...with McNabb throwing so badly. If anyone needs a quarterback to throw at someone's feet, he's your man!

As a Raven fan and a Redskin fan, I get to deal with 2 Qb's of a very, uh, inconsistent nature. If Flacco or Grossman ever play 2 good games in a row, the ER's in this region will be jammed with shock victims. -- Al

It will happen for Flacco, the Titan game was awful for alot of reasons, but against the Jets he had one wideout (Bouldin) (Evens hurt) and rookies everwhere else, 2 tightends with less then 2 years, against a good Jet secondary, let's see Flacco whips the Steelers opening day and every announcer puts him on a pedestal, he has a bad outing against Titans, oh he sucks now, let's see, throws for 3 tds, close to 400 yards the following week and he's up for player of the week, then the Jet game, I'm all in on Flacco, no qb in Baltimore has had the sucess he has had, he must get more consistent I agree but for a guy that has gone to the playoffs 3 years strait, a bunch of Raven records, please just because the media plays up he's not a Brady or Rodgers, that's fine with me, I'll steal a line from the late Al Davis.."just win baby"...Sammy

Hi Sammy. I agree with "just win" reasoning, but I am too old to enjoy roller coaster rides at this point in life. As for the part about no qb having success like Flacco has had in Baltimore, I might argue that a gentleman named...wait for it...UNITAS, had some pretty good success. Youngsters can't forget their history.:D -- Al

Let's make that Baltimore Ravens records:smile2:...actually I got a framed enlarged print of my son and I infront of the Johhny U statue at M&T Stadium, robbed the left foot for good luck, must have worked cause the Jets were out of it before the National Anthem was over!!! sorry Brad, ya know I'm gonna at least get one shot in there:D...Sammy

Flacco,Sanchez and Matt Ryan have taken a step backwards this year. At least Flacco has a great defense to bail him out. The other two can't make that claim.

Listened to WFAN today on my way home from the Fredericksburg show; the natives are getting restless regarding the Jets.

Fact of the matter is their defense has taken several steps back, as has their offensive line, you can't "ground and pound" if your O line can't block.

The point being made was they need to open up the offense and let Sanchez whip the ball around........................not sure about that idea, he threw for about 160 yards vs the worst pass defense in the NFL yesterday........

Whole team has taken a step back. They made the Pats D look like the 85 Bears and they couldn't get one darn stop in the last seven or so minutes. They don't -- and haven't had -- a pass rush for awhile and need one, notwithstanding four sacks yesterday, which were mostly coverage sacks anyway.

The mess in Indy sure is interesting. How does a whole organization depend on one man to make the difference between being a contending team and a winless disaster? Have they never heard of contingency plans in Indy? Sure, if a team loses a Manning, championship dreams get put on hold, but shouldn't winning a game still be possible? Someone didn't do their job. They waited until the clock struck midnite to try to get another Qb and judging by the looks of things, there wasn't much in place to start with to help Manning even if he had been able to go. It's got to be painful to watch this mess as a fan of the Colts. -- Al

Developing a decent back up QB is a true catch 22; when Brady took that cheap shot and blew his knee out in the season opener in 2008, Matt Cassel was ready and waiting to step in, he did terrific, the team ended up 11-5, missing the playoffs as the first ever 11 win team to do so, the following year Cassel was gone as a free agent.

Teams don't want to spend big money on a back up; the Colts are paying the price as a result.

I would like to point out that the Steelers, were actually playing like the Steelers today against TN> Geez, if we can be that consistent, we might actually be apart of this year's race. Consistency is terrible across all teams this year. Not just about consistent winning, I am talking about players being unrecognizable from week to week.

Sammy, Flacco has taken steps backwards, he needs to right himself. It is not all the O Line and Cam Cameron's fault. He has the tools, but there are times he looks really lost and that should not be happening at this stage. Hey , I know Big Ben is taking a beating for just throwing it up the first 4 games thinking he had to be super hero b/c he was getting no support. There are parts of that I agree with, but it is amazing when he settles down, doesnt try to be a hero and just plays that he gets 5 TD passes and dismantles TN. Point of this is both of them need to stick to fundamentals, the jury is sort of out on whether Flacco is disciplined enough and consistent to do that.

IMO
still a long season and if Ravens defense stays healthy, they will be hard to beat.

TD

Redskins stunk out the stadium against the Eagles. What a shock. I've come to the conclusion that Rex Grossman is not the answer at quarterback. He was real bad. Beck offered some hope as Grossman got benched. Great. Another Qb controversy for the Redskins. First one ever.:rolleyes2: Lots of work still to be done if this team is to contend. -- Al

Harbaugh is a great coach but he really gets under the skin of his opponents. Almost a riot at the end of the 49ers-Lions game. He really PO'd the Lions coach.
