So the Patriots dumped Gilmore for a 6th round draft pick to Carolina today.
I'm not understanding what happened here; he wanted an extension, they could not work out a deal, so he held out, he was hurt, so he went on the PUP list for the first 6 weeks of the season.
So when he comes off, was he still planning on holding out or was he going to play out the remainder of his contract/the last 11 games and then walk next year?
If so, why trade him for basically nothing; let him show the rest of the league he can still play the last 11 games of the season and go from there.
If he told them he was holding out for the rest of the year, then I guess he forced their hand.
If they had no plans on keeping him after this year, they should have traded him sooner, they pissed away a somewhat valuable asset with this.
So he shot his way out of town then.
If you sign a contract, you should honor it, granted the landscape has changed and other cornerbacks who are less skilled than he is are getting paid more than he is and in his eyes, he's underpaid, but how it that the Patriots fault?
He signed the deal, so honor it; if his play slipped and he was performing below league average, would he be willing to give some of the money back?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Getting sick of these overpaid athletes, try going out and working for a living, cry me a river, he wasn't making what he felt he was worth.
Welcome to the real world.
