It amazes me how much time and energy were devoted to changing the Redskins name in certain circles. Native Americans have a ton of real problems. Imagine if even a small percentage of that attention were directed to those issues instead of the name of a football team? Those same people couldn't care less about that, however. They are having wine and cheese at Martha's Vineyard.
My favorite moment is when the commentators at the Rams game roll out the old "there are a lot of [fill in name of opposing team] fans here today" as though that is a great surprise. They do this at every Rams home game to imply that the Rams lack fan support. But let's think about this a bit. There are many people from all over the country that retire or work in southern California. Many of them still support the team from wherever they originally come from (Chicago, Green Bay, Dallas). There are also many people who come to LA on vacation. There are many NFL fans who no doubt combine a vacation in sunny LA with a road trip involving their favorite NFL team. LA fans don't say to themselves, "how about we go to Green Bay for a game." But other folks leave their igloos to come to LA for a game. This logic is lost on the commentators.
