N.F.L. 21-22 Season (1 Viewer)

I will be sending Lamar Jackson a gift basket. He literally single handedly handed the Steelers the Victory. I wonder how the Ravens feel about that $275M contract tonight. WOW, just can't make it up, as I said before, they should have learned their lesson with the Flacco contract.

Tom, need to share that basket with many Ravens, don't give lamar all the credit, he was just one of many to make sure ****sburgh got a freebie, appreciate you all trying to fumble it back to us in the final minutes but alas, we are a generous team, and who are we to accept a victory when tis better to give then receive.

I thought yesterday’s game between the 49ers and Cowboys would be competitive although I expected the 49ers to win. Christ, it wasn’t even close. It got so bad my son left after three quarters. Assuming they and the Eagles maintain the same record, the December 3 game in Philly should be quite a game.

It's a long season. Injuries are the big unknown in the NFL. One minute you are rolling and the next the hot dog vendor is your QB and you are finished.

If the Ravens could catch the ball, they win. Let's send the receivers a bottle of glue for their hands. Lamar wasn't great, but he had no help. A team loss, no excuses. -- Al

I don't disagree the receivers stink, but interception as well as the fumble, y'all have to admit, have been typical Jackson moves in close games. I just do not ever think he is worth 275 Million EVEN if the Ravens win the super bowl. Just a dumb move and unfortunately for you fellas, you are going to have to live with it. All you have to do is look at Flacco pre contract versus post. Was that super bowl worth it? I would argue no as it threw the rest of the team contracts into cap hell, just like this one is going to do.

No freebie - Lamar INT and Lamar Fumble, end of story. And in reference to the name, the Burgh has a nice historical lead over Baltimore in all sports and probably always will in my lifetime, not too outhouse to me.

In all seriousness, with the Steelers offense as screwed up as it is , the only saving grace is the Defense. End of day, if the offense can keep time of possession reasonable, I put that D against anyone. If you notice, the 2 losses, the time of possession was awful and the D was on the field most of the game, no matter how good you are - that equals blowouts and they were. Football is a game that comes down to a few basic things, and then a little luck is needed to win it all.

Will always be greatful to Pittsburgh for it's contribution to Baltimore's glory years with the Colts, the REAL Baltimore football team and champions. Pittsburgh cut Johnny Unitas, Baltimore got him, and the rest is NFL history. I can live with that. -- Al

Now that I agree with! Johnny U was something else, got to meet him a few times, he was a first class guy. I also got to meet Artie Donavan, who was aces in my book. His Club used to host my work's holiday dinner. Wow, how time has flown. He always put an appearance in at our dinners (my original partners knew him well). Funny other conincidence, I have partied with Steve B. many times, his Company was one of our clients. Small world.

Ok, honest question to non Steeler or Raven fans - IN your opinion - is Lamar Jackson worth $275M? I am curious what our non-biased members think?

TD[/QUOTE Tom, I used to live for the Ordell Brasse and Artie Donovon Colt's show. Donovon was a true treasure. Nothing like the old Colts and old Baltimore is ever likely to occur again. -- Al

No. But no one is. JMO. -- Al

I believe you are right, to be worth that kind of money, as an cpa, I would need to see spend versus return. I think someone like Tom Brady could be when you looked at his record as well as what he brought in. IMO, he comes the closest to that kind of contract, maybe he is worth more than that. But in my lifetime, he is probably the only one that comes to mind for me that would hit the return needed for that money.

No, no player in this world on a team sport is worth that kind of money, but that's how the market has evolved in the NFL, how sports has changed in our lifetime, I recently read a book on the lives of Certain Baltimore Colts of the 1958 team and Unitas had a side job after practice as many of players did to pay the Bills, could you imagine any of today's players delivering Beer to stores, working at the Docks 🤣🤣🤣

Coaches and GM's are constantly in "win now" mode to preserve their jobs. Most fans have no tolerance for a losing season. So they sign aging stars to megadeals to win in the short term not caring what happens down the road. Jackson should have been traded the same way the Seahawks dealt Wilson. While he still has some trade value. Jackson is still good but he has peaked and never sniffed a Super Bowl. It's not going to happen. Why not spend that money on several quality free agents? The Rams should deal away Aaron Donald while they can. He is no longer an impact player on defense. Why not unload his salary, pick up some draft picks or players, and sign some quality free agents instead of letting him fade away on the team for the next few seasons?

Read somewhere that someone on those old Colt teams used to deliver coal part-time. That was a team tied to a city, time, and place. Never see it again. More's the pity. -- Al

Got to ask Al, is there a Gino's restaurant still in Baltimore??? My memory is short as we left Maryland when I was 7ish?? Years old, but I remember a tasty hamburger 🍔 from Gino's!!!! Is the place to be commercial 🎶💖🎶🎶🎶

Sammy, don't believe there are any originals left. There are one or two with the name that have a vague connection to the original, maybe name only, in Towson and/or Glen Burnie. Never been to them. Another lost landmark of days past. -- Al

It's amazing how many bad QB's there are in the NFL today, but this is what you get when the game becomes pass happy, making the running game useless. As a result, there will continue to be terrible QB play. Ten to fifteen years ago, you could overcome an average QB with a strong running game and a great defense, you can't build teams like that anymore and the NFL is turning into the NBA where the select few teams that are lucky enough to have superstars will win and everyone else are nobody's.

The NFL is really starting to suck as a product.

2001 Ravens, Tony banks, Dilfer as QB"s 🤣🤣 but we had Jamal Lewis a brusing runner, a fantastic defense, great offensive line, and ok kicker Stover= Superbowl Champs

I would posit that the NFL has sucked as a product for quite a few years now. I know it is wildly popular, but I believe that is because today's fans, especially the younger fan base, have no idea what real football from last century was really like, with running games, defenses that were allowed to defend, and Qb's that could call their own games, resulting in exciting and interesting games. But I just really miss the game from yesteryear and kind of resent the inferior product of today. WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH... -- Al
