N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

The NFC East continues to amaze and not in a good way.

Each team has 3 wins and the only reason why the Eagles are in first place is because they have a tie on their record instead of a 7th loss.
The anticipation is hard to withstand...will it take 5 wins or 6 wins to take the division? Why, even 4 could do it...Stay tuned for the most exciting race in the NFL.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Actually the NFC Least is kind of interesting. Just imagine if Washington had beaten the Giants in that first game: they’d be in 1st place. The Giants have played pretty well (other than the 49er game) and could easily have a winning record.

You may complain all you want about the division but someone is going to get a playoff game. Several years the Seahawks finished 7-9 and won the West and beat the Saints so anything is possible.

I think the rest of the division is getting better, even if it's marginally better, while the Eagles are stuck in place. They still have to play Dallas and Washington one more time each-the last two games on the schedule. Before that, they'll face Seattle, Green Bay, New Orleans, and Arizona. I don't think the Eagles will be the ones to emerge from the division wreckage to go to the post-season.

And they get so close, and then fall, like in their first possession yesterday. Sanders takes the ball all the way down to just about the Brown's 3, and is stripped of the ball as he gets tackled. Turnover to Cleveland. And when they took possession pinned to their own goal line, and the offensive line collapsed yet again, and Wentz is sacked in the end zone for a safety.

Meanwhile, watching other games and other quarterbacks hit their receivers to march down field, watching other running backs somersault over defenders into the end zone, I keep asking, "Why can't the Eagles do that?!"

Between them and Penn State, it's a lousy season for football here in SE PA.

Prost!

Masks now required for players on sideline as part of new NFL COVID-19 protocols

kudos to the NFL...
I like this...
they are making adjustments...
it's a start...
some good rules here...
gotta give them credit...they are trying...

Old habits die hard, I laugh every time I see a coach cover his mouth with his playing calling sheet as he calls in plays, even though he has a mask on.

Entertaining game between Rams and Bucs. I've criticized Goff quite a bit but that game was entirely on him last night with zero running game and he got it done. The Rams D played well. Shady's arm is shot if he tries to pass the ball down field. He can still dink and dunk but he can't throw the long ball. The Bucs have a great defense though. Huge win in the standings. The Rams are at the top of the NFC West instead of in third place.

doesn't really matter if you don't do it...
Arians...the TB coach was not wearing a mask last night...
he was wearing a shield though...
maybe he's due a fine today...

Mike, I was assuming the shield counts? Maybe it doesn't? who knows, but probably a better idea than not wearing them as it seems they are still passing it through each other in some capacity after I saw the Ravens lose 3 players this week.

I remember when MLB ruled that everybody in the dugout had to wear a mask. That rule was more honored in the breach than the observance. I’ve also noticed — and this doesn’t just apply to athletes — that many don’t cover their noses. The mask is worthless unless both mouth and nose are covered. I’ve seen signs in some locations saying that both need to be covered for entry.

Tom...

not sure if you read the article...but this is what it says concerning that...

the question now is...which coach is calling the plays...a little ambiguous on the wording...

Coaches who call plays will no longer have the option to wear only a face shield. Instead, they must wear a face mask or double-layered gaiter in addition to the face shield.

Thanks Mike for pointing that out, i posted before fully reading. Interesting, although when I saw medical pros wearing shields, they also had masks on too, so that would make sense that a mask is better than the shield!

The Rams are legit, that defense might be the best in football, great DL, they were all over Brady, LB's who can run and tackle, outstanding secondary.

With Brady, last year all I heard was he had no weapons here. He's got by far the best weapons in the NFL at Tampa, so to me, it's coaching.

Why are you running plays that take forever to develop, ZERO play action, nothing.

The real problem is you've got a 43 year old QB who does not want to get hit and has no accuracy on mid to long passes, he's 0-22 on his last 22 passes longer than 20 yards.

ZERO for 22.

He also has lost the ability to throw quick outs too.

I was a bit annoyed that he left here, but sadly, it's better he bottoms out somewhere else vs here.

It was time to move on.

The Patriots made the right choice, he's 2-4 vs teams with a winning record and 5-0 vs sub 500 teams.

Tom...unless they are on the field...bottom line is that everyone should wear a mask...and even the referees should be wearing one...which they already seem to be from my viewing...if you're on the sideline...not in the game...wear a mask...seems like far too many players and practices are getting shut down weekly...drastic times call for drastic measures...

none the less...I'm pretty sure during practices...the mask rule is not enforced...:rolleyes2:

George...can't subscribe to 100% of what you're saying...but ooooooh yea...that pass rush and that secondary of the Rams are very good...Aaron Donald and Floyd don't allow a pocket passer much time...and the secondary...Williams, Ramsey and Fuller play really tight coverage...Brady looked uncomfortable the entire night...Rams could go far this year...

Ok, what part of what I said don't you agree with?

Brady looks like a 43 year old QB to me.

He is very limited as to what he can do and the Tampa offense is not suited to the skill set he has left.

He looks bored and disinterested to me. That last INT looked more out of frustration than anything else, why chuck it up for grabs there, plenty of time left and all you need is a field goal.

Just a dumb decision by him.

I have to generally agree with George (although I don’t agree with the bored and disinterested part). He was overthrowing receivers; someone paid him the unkindest cut today: he didn’t look much better than Darnold. When you’re 43 your skills have eroded. He’s just been able to hold off the age clock but no one can do that forever. Moreover, what does he have to prove? That he can win a SB without Bill? Not going to happen. On the counter side, you can say he’s had a few good wins this year (but also some bad losses).

Jared Goff is still the QB and I don't buy them in the long run. He is not really good and will be their undoing. As I said before, end of day, Offense rules the current NFL in big games. And the Rams are not exactly "locking" down opposing offenses when you look at points put up.

Again, good D, but my observation is teams can score on them and Goff usually is not winning a shoot out.

can't disagree with any of your comments on how bad Brady looked last night...
he looked pretty bad with those 2 INT's that weren't even close...
he has always struggled with a heavy 4 man pass rush that is effective...
LA playing 7 men in the secondary would hurt any QB...
like I said...he never looked comfortable sitting in that pocket...

what I was referring to was your last comment...
that NE made the right choice...
time will tell on that...but he didn't get that bad in 9 months since he left NE...
plug in Edelman/Belichick and I think he would look a lot better...
and you might agree that AB looks like no big deal...

I think if he was still with NE...
their record would be better than 4-6...
if Brady was still under Belichick's tutelage...
I think NE would have a better record...

but yea...other than that...I agree...like I said in my original post...he never looked comfortable last night...

Mike,
Brady's biggest knock as he got older was he did not trust certain players, specifically young guys; if he threw to you and you ran the wrong route, you'd go in his doghouse and out of his circle of trust.

Cam is not like that, he has chemistry with the younger guys. Granted, it does not reflect in their record but I put that more on the defense, their front 7 is awful, zero pressure, can't tackle, getting gashed on the run.

The offense is not bad.

The Patriots were not winning another Super Bowl with a 43 year old QB, it was time to move on...........................good luck to him in Tampa, you can't hold onto the past forever, Father time always wins......................

Brady is one of the least mobile QBs in the league, couple that with a mediocre offensive line and your offense is going to be be inconsistent at best, especially in today’s NFL.
