N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (5 Viewers)

Brady is one of the least mobile QBs in the league, couple that with a mediocre offensive line and your offense is going to be be inconsistent at best, especially in today’s NFL.

Agree, there will be days when he has good days too as their record shows. I am surprised the Tampa D allowed as many points as they did but that is how it goes, as they say Any Given Sunday rule applies in the NFL all the time. Every team has a lot of talent and when that much talent is constantly on the field, you just never know. There are lopsided games every week, but amazingly look at how many come down to the 4th qtr or the final drive or even OT. Wild when you think about it. Records, the difference between 9-1 and 6-4 is not separated by a whole lot of points!

Some weird stats from the Rams-Bucs game:

1) Brady and Fuller were both the 199th picks in the draft. Fuller intercepted Brady twice.

2) First time in Rams history that two receivers had more than 10 receptions.

3) The first time since 1974 that two rookies scored their first TD and another rookie got his first INT in the same game.

4) On passes at least 20 yards downfield, Brady went 0-for-6 with two interceptions. Brady is now 0-for-19 on deep passes in his last four games and his incompletion streak on such passes has stretched to 22 attempts. That’s the longest streak of any QB since 2017, according to NFL Research.

IE, he can't throw the deep ball anymore, he's the master of dink and dunk, but the Tampa coach runs a different type of offense, one that relies on time for routes to develop and deep throws downfield, like the Raiders and their bombs away offense from the 1970's/1980's.

Brady is not suited any longer for that sort of offense, he's better suited in one that relies on backs catching passes out of the backfield and a slot receiver to dink and dunk down the field.

Double the slot guy, have a fast LB on the back out of the backfield and play single high safety on him and have the other safety double the receiver running an intermediate route and he's toast..............

Yup, glad he's gone.

Tom:

I thought about that as I watched the game. At the same time, no matter how great your defense is, if they are constantly on the field after offensive 3 and outs they are going to give up some points.

That is the truth, no matter how good you are, you can't play that many minutes and not "bend".

Go figure. The Redskins swept the two games from the Cowboys for only the 6th time in the history of the rivalry. Things went downhill for the Cowboys, fast, after they botched that fake punt in the 4th quarter. Redskins in 1st place with 4 wins. What a conference.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I still can’t figure out the reasoning behind that fake punt.

Lamar Jackson and about 12 other Ravens have tested positive, their facility is shut down until Monday.

And oh yeah, they have a game Sunday night vs the Steelers.................

With hospitalizations at an all time high and this thing running out of control, I can't see how the NFL finishes their season, this is going from bad to worse.

Call me crazy but I think the WFT can win the division. The only team that probably will have a difficult time doing so is the Cowboys.

I think the Ravens game will be postponed. I also believe that the NFL will manage to complete the season; they’ve managed to navigate Covid so far. The NFL could also go to a bubble for the playoffs although that is not their preferred alternative.

Yes, they are showing signs of life. They have a few good young players and a decent coach. They don't need much to win that division. There is no real dominant team in the NFC. So who knows if they get into the playoffs on a hot streak they could make a run. Dallas is just waiting for Belichick.

Complete mystery to me, as well. It was only a 4 point deficit with 12+ minutes left in the game, and they were reasonably deep in their own end of the field, which made it a huge gamble. Like all trick plays, it looks brilliant if it succeeds, and incredibly dumb if it fails. I just thought it was very mistimed and somewhat a desperate move in a non-desperate situation. Classic example of one play turning the tide of a close game and making it a rout. -- Al

I think this is a case where the organization obviously is not following protocols. The NFL penalized Tennessee in the beginning, and that happened against the Steelers too and screwed their schedule. My opinion is if Baltimore can't safely follow the rules, then they should be the bad apple who is punished, not the rest of the league. It seems most teams are dealing with it fairly well and have isolated incidents. Steelers have had 1 guy thus far who actually got COVID. They are not alone. I think the NFL can and will finish the season, but some of these teams need to tighten up their rules. Not sure if you read the entire Ravens issue, but apparently a strength coach had symptoms, didn't report them, skirted some tests as well as was not consistently wearing a mask. I mean "c'mon man". Totally irresponsible and in my opinion Baltimore should forfeit the next 2 games at least.

The virus goes beyond what an individual does, it is spread by contact via the people you interact with and those that they have interacted with and so on and so on.

NFL rosters are huge, and when you add in practice squad players they get really big, over 65 players.

Add to that an allowed travel party of 110 people (coaches, medical personnel and support staff) and transmission and spread of the virus isn’t just possible it is inevitable.

Jason, I don't disagree with your statements at all, but the investigation at the Ravens has uncovered blatant violations of protocols and they should be punished. Instead with the schedule change, you can make the argument that the Cowboys and Steelers are now paying the price for the Ravens issues. Additionally, the Steelers continue to add players with vigilance to the reserve list (only 1 ever tested positive), but for example, Tuitt is now on the list due to potential contact outside of football (first report at least). Point is they are over vigilant with even a chance of an issue. But you have a Ravens strength coach who blatantly disregarded the rules, then lied. That is BS and as such, in my opinion, the Ravens should have forfeited the next 2 games.

Steelers have now had only second actual positive with James Conner. Getting stranger, on another note, Ravens are now up to 20 people on their COVID list - majority actually positive tests, not sure how they can actually travel and play in the game on Tuesday as it seems their outbreak is ongoing. What a mess.

It gets messier. Broncos have no QBs. All ruled out.

On top of that, practice facilities closed Monday and Tuesday; the NFL is worried about the after effects of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Ravens have 20+ players/personnel who have tested positive for the virus in the past week.

The Broncos now have all of their rostered quarterbacks on the reserve virus list.

The 49er’s can’t play (or practice) their next 2 home games in Santa Clara as the county has now banned all contact sports for the next 3 weeks.

The NFL might very well finish out the season, but it is getting more and more difficult to take the potentially watered down result of it all seriously.

Goff somehow managed to blow another game to the Niners. I still can't believe the Rams are paying him $134 million. Those are American dollars. He was outplayed by some no name backup. At least the Cards somehow managed to lose to the Pats. Cam Newton was 8-16 for 84 yards with two INTs and still won. So the Rams don't lose any ground to the Cards. The Chiefs and Steelers will decide it. TN is dangerous in the playoffs with Henry but I don't think they can win it.

I don't get how they lost to a depleted 49ers team..............Tompa Bay lost again; another plus 500 opponent, another loss.

Brady is now 1-21 on passes traveling 20 or more yards since week 8, 0-2 on these passes today.

His inability to throw deep is really hampering the vertical offense Tompa Bay runs; if they had a QB who could go vertical, their offense would be out of this world.

Probably something Tompa Bay should have considered before signing him to a two year deal; next year could be ugly..................[FONT=Roboto, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, Segoe UI, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, Fira Sans, Droid Sans, Helvetica Neue, sans-serif]they look like a 11-5/10-6 one and done playoff team to me.
