I know it seems like a minor point but the networks that telecast the games really need to stop with the overview of empty stadiums just as the broadcast begins.
you would be fined...suspended....arrested and possibly kicked out of the NFL for doing this...what a a-hole...

Good, he deserves the assault charge, but shouldn't battery have been included also??? And great bodily harm???
And then I read the rest of the team was penalized after winning the game, they have now been made to forfeit?!?!? I guess the rotten apple ruined it for the bunch.

The kid snapped, did a horrible thing and is going to pay the consequences, which is how things should work.
To punish the whole team for his moronic act is lousy IMO, that sets a terrible example.
George,
I agree for the rest of the kids on the team as they appear innocent. However, I do get it somewhat in that they are penalizing the Coaching staff for allowing an environment for that to happen. NOW, of course, "Us Monday Morning Types" on this board do not know the total context, history, etc. As I am a gambling man, I tend to believe that digging deep will reveal previous trouble incidents and atmosphere, that is just my gut feeling gamble. Then penalizing the "team" makes more sense. Again, this will be a one hit wonder story that will go into oblivion in the next sports cycle.
Again, I reiterate my comments on Myles Garrett incident in the NFL> you can't help but connect these types of actions as I am sure (unfortunately) there were kids who saw what Garret did and thought it was "cool" or "ok" or "normal". Just horsecrap IMO.

Tom...
NFL Network reported on the incident yesterday...
and alluded to the fact that this kid has had issues in the past with his anger management with his sporting activities...
but did not elaborate on what he has done in the past...
he is also a very highly regarded wrestler at his school...
Steelers go down. Man, Redskins wanted it more. Steelers look uncomfortable like they don't want to play, I can't explain it. Just looked low energy yet scared to lose, well they did. Dropped passes, didn't make any of their own luck, Washington hung in and made plays and beat them. Just infuriating. Missed scoring, etc etc etc, basically the playbook of a loss.

I know there are no moral victorious but....
The Niners have been decimated by injuries at just about every position this season and now they are all but playing in a bubble for most of the rest of their schedule.
Yet they showed up last night, left nothing on the field and gave a division leader (who had all of their starters) a great game.
Effort might not matter much anymore but it still matters to me.
The Eagles finally bench Wentz. That's a lot of money sitting on the pine, but worth a try. Nothing to lose except some more games.
