N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

The NFL and its strict cap really restricts trades etc.

Yet so many all time great QB’s have played for at least two teams.

Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Namath, Unitas etc.

It is an obvious reality, but for me personally, no matter what Montana did after he left the Niners I was always going to see him in red and good standing next to Walsh on the 49er sidelines.

George,

I am SHOCKED that your are beating up Deflate Gate Brady so badly. He was YOUR man and now you kick him to the curb like some kind of washed up bit part actor. Shame on your George...SHAME GI!!! I though for sure you would be hailing him here on the forum today.

Its okay though, because today we are "BOO Brady" for the Super Bowl with mini-sausages, meatballs, dips, wings, guacamole, queso with piccadillo meat, tons of chips, jalapeño pimento dip, a pepperoni cracker plate, bree cheese and something else I can't remember.

Mike, YES THE COMMERCIALS. I can't wait.

Seriously, though if Brady wants to play till 45 then so be it. I dig the dudes story from way back when he got picked in the 6th round. I always root for the under dog and dude payed his dues, plus some. He is an anonomaly on so many levels and after you (George) defending him and selling me on the fact that he IS the greatest QB of all time...I agree. Even with Deflate gate.

Besides all that..."BOO BRADY" is good fun I we'll see if Mahomes can see do it again. At this point in NFL history, your nobody unless you beat Brady. Brady has become the bench mark. You meet this guy on field and you have reach the pinnacle of NFL battle and your career. Again, we'll see if Mahomes can slay the Greatest football Samurai to live.

I have no money on this game thank God.

George, my daughter is applying to Harvard. If she gets accepted, I pulling all of my favors from my Boston Brethen...you, ZB Lang and the civil war era post office lady. And if she gets accepted, which is a total lark by the way...get the beer iced down and Ill bring the fajitas!

BEst,

John from Texas

TB's defense is giving Mahomes fits in the 1st half...

if that end zone pass hadn't been dropped...
the score could be getting out of hand...

the ex-NE offense is working...
Gronk looks like he's 24 years old...
lots of game left...

penalties are killing KC...
another score before halftime could be huge...

OMG....

all 3 TD's are ex-Pats...
wonder what Belichick is thinking while watching the game?

I guess if anybody can pull off a comeback...
it would be Mahomes...

KC scores field goals while TB scores touchdowns. Game over.

That is the story of the game along with kc being about as flat as possible and they can't get a call to go their way to save their lives. On another note, I am finding the commercials rather blah. Not a great game for a non fan of either team.

A major choke job by the Chiefs. Have to wonder how much that car accident was a factor for Reid. A terrible situation.

Old age, experience, and treachery overcome youth, enthusiasm, and innocence every time. GOAT wins again... -- Al
Yep, looks that way. Brady, after this win, should walk, go out on top, and enjoy it all. Nothing more to prove, more money than he needs, and, most importantly, he still has his health. He can't ask for more than that. -- Al

they should take Mahomes out before he gets his neck broken...
his O-line has already called it quits and thrown in the towel...
he has taken some very hard hits tonight...
serves no purpose to leave him in...

Al...he's had nothing to prove for years...along with a boatload of money...he signed a 2 year contract with TB for 50 million guaranteed...he said recently he thinks he can play til he is 45...he's already 43...can't see any reason why he won't be back next year...maybe TB can lure Edelman away...

Brady is still the greatest, no matter anything else that happened in the game, I thought Tampa Bay played their best in all facets of the game. He was near perfect, looked like a general in command. Game plan spot on, as much as I hate to admit it, they nailed it top to bottom.

Chiefs were just flat, out coached and out gunned tonight. Maybe it was the curse of trying to repeat, just hard to do

You can’t underestimate the loss of the KC tackles; Mahomes was under pressure all night. That was a huge factor in the loss.

that Brady beat Brees...Rogers and Mahomes to win this SB...
is an amazing stat in itself...
those 3 were the cream of the NFL...

Mike, I agree but I was trying to make the point that he has now proved he can win away from NE and that he should walk before a freak play or a just unfortunate hit ruins everything for him. It makes no sense to me why a 43 year old with nothing further to gain would not get out while the getting is good. Then again, I don't understand or grasp the pull of the limelight and the ego of the pro athlete. -- Al

Al...

you can compare that to an aging boxer winning and thinking he's invincible...you stay in the ring a little too long...and you slur your speech for the rest of your life...I get it...I understand what you are saying...what's to prove...

he did say in the post interview that he would be back next year...call it pride...ego...confidence...glory...insanity...whatever it is...he has proven he can still be competitive...and not to give him all the glory...their defense was awesome through the entire post season...to shut down 3 of the very best QB's to get a SB win is quite a feat...

The Chiefs were absolutely destroyed at every aspect of the game. Even their punter looked shaky. Hard to explain. Their O-line was blown up. Mahomes was running for his life all night. Not a single TD. Tampa's D played lights out. They took away the big play and got pressure just rushing four or five guys. Still doesn't explain why KC made no adjustments and how few of those guys on offense look engaged. They looked mentally beat at half time. Kudos to Tampa and Brady. When the Rams went in and beat them earlier in the season, I would have said they had zero chance to win the Super Bowl. The odds that they win three playoff road games including wins over Brees and Aaron Rodgers must be pretty low. As in near zero. And then top it off with a beatdown of Mahomes and Chiefs who had won something like 25 out of the last 26 games. A miracle. Hated all that woke nonsense during the pregame. The Super Bowl is always weird but that was over the top. Fortunately Ghostbusters was on another channel.

Unfortunately the nonsense is here to stay I am afraid. It continued into the commercials for the most part too. Honestly, though that is not why I disliked the commercials on a whole per se, I just thought they either didn't make sense, were odd or were just not humorous. Sad display of creativity.

One shot that I found hilarious - how disgusted and bored did Russell Wilson look having to sit by the Ginger Hair Stooge all night!!!!!!!!! That was funny. (Wilson won the Walter Payton award and as such was a guest of Goodell). I think after I got the award, I would have developed flu like symptoms and gone back to the hotel than sit by him!!

As stupid as the Super Bowl pregame and halftime were, the single weirdest moment had to be that bizarre Vince Lombardi hologram or whatever the hell that was supposed to be towering over the field like Godzilla. Was that an actor or something else? It was downright creepy. I'm surprised they didn't make Lombardi give some woke speech about unity. Or maybe they did and I wasn't paying attention to what he was saying because it was so bizarre. Imagine the real Lombardi's reaction to the halftime show? He would have stroked out.
