As a Patriots fan, am I seriously supposed to fear the Chefs? Mahommes looks brilliant on one play, then looks like a Curly from the three stooges impersonator on the next, those two throws left handed that were up for grabs were awful for example.

They've lost their last 6 strait home playoff games and let's not forget the Andy Reid factor; great during the regular season, soils himself in the playoffs, this is a team that lost at home last year to the Titans and they are hot garbage...…………….oh and again as a Patriots fan, if there is a God in heaven they will make the playoffs and play us in round two; after they way they preened around and talked trash after their win vs us a few weeks ago, I predict the final score of that game would be 105-0...……………………….has Vrabel and Lewis shut up yet or are they still running their mouths...………..don't poke the bear fellas, you both should know that as former Patriots.

D-O-N-'-T.

As a Patriots fan, you may not have to seriously fear the Chiefs but you may have to be concerned about the Chargers.

As a pats fan, I’m only concerned about the bills and Miami! We only lose to crappy teams!!!

Bill Fralic has passed at age 56. According to reports, he fought a long battle with cancer.

One of the all-time greats. He played 8 years for the Falcons, drafted #2 overall out of the University of Pittsburgh. He was the reason the term pancake block became a thing. He received several first place votes for the Heisman while in college. Almost unheard of for an offensive lineman.

No details on the cancer other than he fought a long battle. Can’t help but wonder if it was head trauma related.

Way too young to die, very sad.

I cannot stand Stephen A. Smith...I honestly change the channel when he comes on...he's loud...overbearing and obnoxious...he "over talks" everybody by screaming when they are trying to comment...he has ridden the Cowboys for years...most lately proclaiming they were going on a 4 game losing streak...when they actually went on a five game winning streak...ESPN must be desperate for sport's analysts...this video is extremely funny...you gotta see Tedy Bruschi's face when Smith talks about the games match up with players that have not played all year...it's hilarious...he's talking about guys that have been out all year...talking about guys that are not even on the roster...several times refers to the SAN DIEGO Chargers...they are in LA...poor guy...what a blowhard...

Tony Dungy made an interesting point during an interview yesterday. He said that defenses should invest more in lineman rather than cornerbacks. The reason is that in today's NFL a DB is more likely to take penalties than a lineman. As a matter of fact he said, a great defensive end is going to draw more holding penalties than sacks. Holding is 10 yards, the average sack is barely 6 yards.

Huge game today for New England; win and the #2 seed is basically locked down, #1 is still in play as well.

Lose and they are truly screwed, they'll end up as the #3 seed which means two road playoff games to get to the AFCCG and considering a loss today would put their road record at a dismal 3-5, I can't see them winning one road playoff game, nevermind two.

Even at 4-4, that's not a good road record at all.

Hasn't been your typical Patriots year, the end is near as far as this run, but wow, 17 years/5 Super Bowl wins/8 trips to the Super Bowl/12 trips to the AFCCG is incredible, I highly doubt another NFL team going forward will be able to ever match that, I guess time will tell.

I saw Connor is out, so Stevan Ridley is starting.

Stevan Ridley??

Really??

Hard to believe that tomato can is still in the league; that said, he'll probably run for 150 yards and 3 TD's and then run his mouth after the game about how the Patriots gave up on him after he got hurt...…..no, you suck, that's why they cut you.

I also saw Big Ben has a cracked rib. I’m sure he’ll miss a play or two today, hobble off the field, go under the tent and then to the locker room and heroically return and throw a last second TD to ice the game, then collapse to the ground and Steelers fans will go ape ****.

Can't wait.

Jason...

I have always wondered which is most effective on defense...
a good pass rushing lineman or a good corner...
it can go either or both ways...
or works together most times...

the argument that a good pass rusher can get sacks and forces errant throws that might end up as interceptions...
or
with a secondary's tight coverage...it forces the QB to hold the ball....and creates time allowing the lineman to get a sack...

now that Dungy factors in holding calls and average yardage on those penalties...
it just makes it harder to decide...

these statisticians have too much time on their hands...^&grin

Regardless of what the Steelers do the rest of the year...……………..that felt good. Sorry George, Zach. It ended up being quite interesting at the end. Boswell still missed a FG, but I guess he made the one that counted and certainly the Steelers D played a lot better, but my God, they still make it too interesting. For once this year, we had luck at home. Go figure.

Niners just lost the number 1 pick. It’s a good news, bad news situation.

Pats were so undisciplined with pre snap penalties. I don’t remember seeing them worse then that with the penalties!
I questioned a lot of the offensive play calling too. When you’re running 5 times in a row at 5 yards each time....uh, keep running!

Nice game of ref ball today; 14 penalties vs the Patriots vs 4 on the Stillers.

How many drives did ref ball kill today on penalties?

25 yard run wiped out by a holding call, drive killed.

First and goal on the 4, holding penalty, drive killed, interception, zero points.

20 yard pass, first down, holding, drive killed.

One team was held to a standard that the other team was not. The refs are supposed to be out there to give a level playing field. This was not a level playing field. Period. You're telling me Pittsburgh didn't commit one holding penalty today if the standard was what they were throwing flags on the Pats for?

There were a number of plays they could have thrown flags on the Steelers offensive line. Every one of those "toss, cut back runs" that they showed a montage of, had an offensive lineman holding, worse than the one they called on Trent Brown.

I think that is the first time in NFL history a DEFENSIVE LINEMAN was called for holding when Malcolm Brown was flagged.

On the second to last pass of the game on the seam route to Gronk, the Stillers defender cut off his route and banged into him.

YOU CANNOT DO THAT, PERIOD, NO FLAG, should have been first and goal on the one there.

Whatever, I had this game penciled in as a loss, you're not going to beat the Stillers two years in a row in Pittsburg; do we get to play them in Pittsburg again next year for the 467th year in row too?

The defense outside of the first drive was nails, the offense was not, offensive is more like it.

Their big weapons didn't do much today, but naturally some goofy stiff old MacDonald is lights out as is some rookie tomato can I never heard of, 14 carries for 150 yards, even the corpse of Stevan Ridley had a big run today too, like that wasn't coming too right?

They put up 10 points on that pathetic defense, that's sad really.

The middle of the field was wide open all game long.

#3 seed here we come, unless the Iggles can somehow beat the Texans.

Any other fan base would be thrilled with 11-5; that's assuming they beat the Bills and the Jets.

All dynasties end badly or they wouldn't end now would they.

And just to clarify; as far as the refs, consistency is the key, call the game the same way for both teams, it's like an umpire in baseball who has a giant strike zone for one team and postage stamp for the other team...…………..holding is holding and the Patriots were guilty of it and got flagged for it, the Steelers were too and were not.

This obviously wasn't going to last forever, but it's sad to see players like Brady, Edelman, Hightower and Gronkowski on the back nine.

Maybe it will be the Patriots who catch lightning in a bottle, go on a run in the playoffs and win a Super Bowl as a heavy underdog, 2002 vs the Rams aside, turnabout being fair play and all that.

And speaking of the Rams...…..............two losses in a row now………..ruh roh…………….

Good points by Dungy but w/ an accepted holding penalty you get to replay the down. With a sack the down is lost, the defense gets fired up (as does the crowd if a home game for the defensive team), you get a hit on the QB that can chip away at the will to win/put a dent in his focus and confidence, etc.
I think a sack is much more of a physical and psychological victory, and not having to replay the down as you would w/ a holding penalty is big. Take for instance plays where there is both a sack and a holding penalty. The sack might only be a 5 yard loss yet the holding penalty is often strategically declined so that the down is not replayed which otherwise would have given the offense another chance they essentially had lost, albeit from likely worse field position. Having said that there are certain game situations in terms of time remaining, field position, within or not within field goal range, the score, what was the actual down and distance before the play, etc that could make accepting the penalty more beneficial for the defensive unit.

A victory is a victory is a victory, but yesterday's last second win by the Redskins highlights just how sorry the Redskins have been, despite their current 7-7 record. The win yesterday broke a 16 game losing streak when trailing at the half, going back to 2016. I think Gruden's time is about up, unless they somehow luck their way into the playoffs, which doesn't look likely. -- Al

"How about the Cowboys?"

what a joke...they suck!

playing yesterday for the East title...and got shut out...zip...nada...nothing...a goose egg...no pints scored...

if they win the East...they will lose the first playoff game...

Dak has now been sacked an almost league leading 51 times in 13 games...

as a fan...they are HARD TO WATCH!

The Eagles-centric coverage last night was bizarre. They were fawning over a 6-7-1 team and Foles like they had resurrected Joe Montana and the 49ers. Constant crowd shots of the typical east coasters fleeing their arctic winter nightmare to attend a game in LA. Family photos of Foles's kids etc. I'm surprised the commentators didn't carry Foles off on their shoulders. All that nonsense about teams figuring the Rams out is a laughable. It look NFL coaches 12 weeks to figure out they needed to double Darnold (maybe the best lineman in the game) and drop their secondary to take away the long passes? Right. How about teams like the Eagles are playing for their playoff lives right now and the Rams are coasting? A good wakeup call for the playoffs. The Rams get AZ and the Niners to end the season. They should finish with 12-13 wins. Right now the Chargers may be playing the best football in LA though. An all LA Super Bowl would be interesting. Saints-Chargers would be a good game as well.
