N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (3 Viewers)

Got to admit last night's Raven game had 3 years of bad emotions tied up in it considering the last second losses to Pittsburgh and Cinncy and possibly the Browns!?....but a win is a win, no style points in this one just glad to be back in the playoffs and a home game at that!!...I think we match up well against the Chargers and should be a good game.

Winner gets the Pats the following week, interesting matchups whoever it is.

"Winner gets the Pats the following week"...……..

If the Colts beat the Texans, then yes, but if the Texans beat the Colts, the winner goes plays the Chefs.

the Cowboys will not improve their recent lack of playoff success...
I suspect one and done...
Dak has been sacked a whopping 56 times this year...
compare that to Brees and Luck who have 17 and 18 sacks respectively on the year...
and that is an astronomical number...
their O-line can barely handle a 4 man rush...
much less a blitz package of 5 or more...
the offense is pedestrian with Linehan's dink and dunk pass game...
all you have to do is stack the box and Elliott is controlled...
I'm glad they made the playoffs...
and glad they get to host the first round...
but I don't expect anything out of them...
one and done...
in the East...I like Philly...
they have the best chance of advancing...

I like both Indy and Philly as dark horse favorites......

Drew Brees is a different QB in New Orleans at home...
they should represent the NFC...
the AFC looks more competitive...

Fear the Cowboys...^&grin...^&grin...^&grin

I see that Marvin Lewis is finally out in Cinncy. Been there 16 years with a 131-122-3 record but the real downside was an 0-7 playoff game record and a 8-26 record against the Steelers. It was past time for a change. -- Al

At one point the Steelers offered him the D Coordinator job when they thought he was being fired a few years ago. I would not mind having him now. Our Defense was a thorn in our own sides for much of the year, they could not close or stop big plays. I think its time for a change for us there and also in personnel. Draft choices have bombed - Artie Burns and Steven Davis - both started great and then have been awful. Burns can't cover a tortoise and Davis made more whiffs in missed tackles than Tiger Woods recent golf swings.

Ok, enough of that, here are my predictions, let's see how much I don't know:

A. Chargers get revenge on Ravens - I think they will look at what went wrong the first time and adjust. I see a ton of passing from Rivers ala Baker Mayfield yesterday. The risk of interception in the playoff is worth it. Will be interesting to see the Ravens Defense adjustments. Ironically the Chargers are 8-0 on the road this year, they actually play way better away from their half filled home stadium!

B. Texans take down Colts handily - Luck's luck will run out, I am not bought in that they are that good.

Following:

A. Chiefs dismantle Chargers - the road warriors will bet outscored in a shootout.

B. Patriots at home destroy Texans or Ravens - they don't lose if ever at home in the playoffs and the last 2 weeks, they looked right on cue. The Miami Miracle/Screwup and the Steelers coverage was a wake up call, Bill B. will not make the same mistake twice.

Then:

Chiefs win in KC to go to the Super Bowl (ok probably emotional pick here as it truly is a toss up at that point).

"Chiefs win in KC to go to the Super Bowl (ok probably emotional pick here as it truly is a toss up at that point)."...……

If the Chefs win their first playoff game, they'll win the AFCCG at home, even they won't blow the game.

I might be wrong, but since they went to the Super Bowl in 1970, they've been to zero since and a whopping one AFCCG, where they were beaten by the Bills.

Again, I could be wrong and maybe they got to another one, but that's all I can remember.

They have a history of choking in the playoffs at home, so if the Chargers beat the Ravens, it will be interesting to see how that game plays out.

The Saints are going to be tough to beat at home. If anyone can do it, it is probably Chicago at this point with their great D. So I going with the Saints in the NFC. The AFC is wide open, but I don't think the Pats get it done this year. The Chiefs are a major choke team. That leaves the winner of the Ravens and Chargers looking good.

I am sticking with the World Series rematch, Patriots vs. Rams.
Jason, I'm hoping the Ravens can redeem the Balto/Wash sports reputation. Haven't had much to cheer about outside of that ice hockey thing. -- Al

Al:

I'll pull for them too.

All I have is the Warriors. Thankfully they are all but a lock to win another title. Unfortunately I am not a basketball fan.

Antonio Brown has asked out of Pittsburg.

First Bell, now Brown.

The Steelers have been a top 3-5 team talent-wise in the NFL, but have gone to only one AFCCG in the past 8 years, while having numerous in-house issues.

I’d be upset about keeping Tomlin around this long if I was a Steelers fan and the worst part is it’s probably too late at this point.

The window is closing rapidly with the Ravens and Browns both on the way up.

Can't disagree, if I was Big Ben, I would be even more pissed, talk about wasting his time...…… That said, it could get real interesting as we have the most Cap space ever and with a healthy corp of receivers, maybe Brown b/c expendable? I don't know. There is also talk of potentially keeping Bell which is idiotic on its face, but stranger things as they say.

What is really ironic and to your point of talent is if they work out differences, everyone gets paid, it would be interesting to see if they could put a run together next year. All of that aside, if we don't find a superstar LB, it won't matter anyhow.

So I read this morning that Dandy Dan Synder is trying to get taxpayers to build another stadium for him in DC. If they do that, it will be a crying shame. The folks in DC should give him the Frankenstein treatment and descend on his castle with lit torches.

That has been kicking around down here for quite a while now and has been making no headway. Judging by the underwhelming crowds and resulting lost revenue at the games, the lit torch option may not be long in coming.:wink2: -- Al

Don't forget the pitchforks! Danny Boy should be hoisted out of town on his own petard.

It is beyond comprehension how Snyder has taken a team that was THE identity of this region, so popular nothing else came close, and completely run it into the ground, alienating a fiercely loyal fanbase in the process, and turned the whole show into a soap opera the equal of 'As the Stomach Turns'. A nightmare with seemingly no end under the leadership of Dan Snyder...now there is a legacy to be proud of. -- Al

I remember as a kid that the only way to get Redskins season tickets was if someone died and left them in their will. Now the stadium is half empty. Danny is a buffoon. Luckily I'm not a diehard Redskins fan though. I can observe the disaster as a neutral spectator.

Article today on the 5 most intriguing SB match ups;

5.) Chargers/Rams...………...no thanks, who outside of LA would care? Come to think if it, who in LA would?

4.) Patriots/Iggles...….NO, NO, 1,000 TIMES NO. No rematch, no more Folsie magic, once in my lifetime is enough, it would be like Opie and the Giants beating the Patriots a second time, the only difference is Louis would not drunk dial me from some firehouse tanked up on moonshine babbling about how we have to have a drink at his symposium...……………..nope.

3.) Saints/Chargers...……..beyond awful. I don't want to see the Aints in the Super Bowl again.

2. Bears/Ravens...……...oh gee, wouldn't that be exciting, a 6-3 rock fight, watching Tribshitsky and Jackson go back to pass, pull the ball down and scramble 500 times. Count me out, just like the last time the Ravens went to the Super Bowl, I didn't watch one second of the Harblow Brothers duking it out to see who ended up with bragging rights at Thanksgiving dinner, besides seeing Suggs' mug on HD would have caused me to reach for the eye bleach.

1.) Rams/Chefs...………..truthfully this is the one I want to see, defense be ****ed, 77-76 would be a real fun Sunday....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz………….

Not that they compare to the Redskins but the decline of the 49er's is directly tied to the departure of Eddie D. As much as people do not want to believe it, ownership matters.

I believe it, ownership is everything in sports, it's the main reason why certain teams are at the top and others are at the bottom.

It's 100% due to ownership.

Before Kraft bought the Patriots, they were a clownshow, a total tire fire, one trip to the Super Bowl in 36 years; since he bought the team about 22 years ago, they've been to 9.
