N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (4 Viewers)

that's a great defense for not paying the man...
AB stiffs everybody one way or another...

A lot of fault both ways. There are people who will do anything to be associated with a clown like Brown. It brings the potential for attention and money. When things don't work out they become mad and threaten to sue knowing he might settle to avoid the embarrassment. It's an endless circus.

True but Darnold will be back eventually. No team that has an established QB or is trying to break in a new one will be interested. He may not be traded. It might be the end.

Brad...

nobody is gonna pick him up...
he's relegated to bench duty from here on out...
year and a half he will be 40...
he's a pocket passer...
he's not mobile at all...no legs...can't scramble...
if someone took him...
they would need an "in place" stellar front line to block for him...
47 sacks last year...he doesn't want to get hit anymore...
he doesn't need the money...

for the rest of the year...
he's on the bench...
in that glass box now that says...
"break in case of emergency"...

maybe he will get a sister show on ESPN like his brother...
"Eli's Place"...^&grin

My bet is the Giants keep Eli. I hope Jones does well as I always pull for guys who went to schools that rank highly in academics. On the other hand the Giants' offensive line is pretty shaky, Jones could get injured and then without Eli you are going with Alex Tanney.

Not sure what the spread is but I would probably take Cleveland at home this week against my Rams. The Browns have this game circled. They have been disappointing so far. Goff and the Rams offense has been sluggish. I think the Browns come out on fire and run away with this one - 38-21. The Pats are something like 23 point favorites against the hapless Jets. The only uncertainty there is whether Bellichick calls the dogs off when they are up three TDs or more in the second half. Maybe the Jets get a late garbage time score to keep them from covering.

With all the injuries it amazes me how many coaches refuse to pull star players after the outcome is decided. The Rams put Gurley in the game last week on the last drive when they were up 27-9 late in the 4th quarter. They gave him the ball a few times with all of his injury concerns. They have two or three competent backups at his position and even drafted a back in the second round who hasn't seen the field. Maybe it has something to do with stats or incentives. I know a lot players get a bonus if they reach certain milestones but what a risk.

A former NFL player is accused of destroying his business to make it look like a hate crime burglary...

Edwan Coughman has been arrested...
for allegedly trying to stage a Jussie Smollett (Empire on Fox) style hate crime...
for insurance claims on his own business......

the story is funny...
the police found a crowbar and black spray paint in his car...
some of the tv's from his business walls in the trunk of his car...
with the mounting brackets and torn sheet rock still attached...

he played on 8 different NFL teams...
and now...
another broke NFL rock star...
how do you squander all that money away?
what a boofus...

Well, you know what they say, "You can't fix stupid." :rolleyes2: -- Al

Ouch, plus the next four games are against the Pats, the Eagles, the Cowboys and then the Pats again.

wow...
that schedule sucks...
the Jets should send the schedule makers a fruitcake...
that's a brutal stretch for any QB....
much less your third string QB...
well...like they say...next man up...

Mike:

ESPN radio was saying earlier today that by week 6 there could be four 0-6 teams, 2 from Florida (Jacksonville and Miami) and 2 from New York (Jets and Giants).

I am not sure that is going to happen as the Giants at least have a shot against Tampa and Washington.

Jason...

I guess that could happen...maybe even worse than 0-6 possibly...^&grin

excluding NE...which has won the AFC East for the last decade and a half...
the Jets...Miami and Buffalo...have contributed to that division...
being the weakest of all the divisions since forever it seems...

it's absolutely mind boggling that Miami has allowed 59 and 43 (total of 102) points in just their first two games...
that's an average of 51 points per game...
to put it in a better perspective...
that equates to over 7 TD's a game they have allowed...
that's a lot of points...

if any of these teams go to 0-6...the stands are gonna be empty...fans are gonna scream and heads are gonna roll...

When it comes to the N.Y. teams, I disagree. Based on what I heard today, fans are excited about Jones coming in and not having to hear about Eli this or that. Management has finally come clean about the season and they’re excited about the possibilities.

Jets fans are frustrated but they’ve had some weird things happen this year to their possible franchise QB. Hopefully, Darnold can come back in a few weeks and make something out of this season.

So, they’re will be some teeth gnashing but no heads will be rolling.

Brad...
I will certainly defer to you on NY teams...
that's your forte...
Miami might be the exception...
they have been calling for heads so long in Dallas...
I just assumed every organization's fans were the same...

Mike:

When I am home in Texas I am amazed how after a loss their is endless talk of firing the staff from the head coach to the coordinators. Then when they win next week the coaching staff is the greatest assembly of football minds since Vince Lombardi.

Texas football fans are unique to say the least.
