N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

So the latest disaster in California has the Chargers moving to London. Wow. Just before they get set to play in their new, state of the art stadium in LA. The Chargers are not a good fit for LA but that seems a bit extreme. I can't imagine many players are too thrilled about flying to England for road games. Some marketing person must have dreamed this up thinking it will expand the NFL market beyond the USA. Then knocked off early for lunch convinced they are a genius.

I think the NFL over estimates the fans interest in Europe. When it is a novelty (1 or 2 games a year) it draws news etc. If it was there every week I doubt it would be as well received.

Yes, I think you are 100% correct. And I doubt the Chargers are moving to London. They are building a multi-billion dollar stadium in LA for next season. The NFL left LA without a team for decades then suddenly moved two teams back in the same year. A really dumb move. Now they are getting cold feet because the Chargers are not drawing and the visiting team fans are outnumbering them. They should have stayed in SD but owners are greedy. They want the big market money.

Interesting look at the No. 1 overall QB's that have been drafted since Cam Newton:

QUARTERBACK, TEAM2019 SEASON
Kyler Murray, Cardinals3-5-1 record
Baker Mayfield, Browns12 INTs (tied w/ Winston for most in NFL)
Jared Goff, RamsOnly 1 in group with winning record
Jameis Winston, Bucs10 turnovers in 2-game span

I watched the Red Zone all day yesterday...............

What a terrible league, about half the teams are just horrendous, you've got about 8 teams/25% of the league who are elite, another 8 teams that are decent and 16 teams that are just terrible.

What on earth happened to the Rams; THREE offensive points yesterday? Goff is a ****show, just terrible.

The Cowboys; mother of God.............the only thing I can come up with as to how on earth Garrett is still their coach is he's got pictures of Jones in compromising situations.

The Bills are who we thought they were, their defense is great, their QB is a disaster.

The Chiefs took a step back; good move bringing in that bozo DC from the Giants who pulled the game of his life out of his *** vs the Patriots in the 2008 SB and has been living off of that ever since, he stinks, as does the Chiefs defense, they got torched by the corpse of Ryan Tannehill.

The Aints should stick Bridgewater back in there, they were better with him; who loses at home to the Falcons...….no one, other than the Aints.

What a tire fire of a league and a sport. And I still have no clue what a catch is, what DPI is or what holding is.

Just awful.

It's true. An awful product. I can't help but feel sorry for the fan of today's NFL who is too young to have seen and enjoyed the NFL of the 20th century because the current version is a sad shadow of that league. -- Al

Agreed; and before anyone chimes in about how back then they used to try to kill each other, no, that's not what Al is saying, nor am I.

What is a catch, what is not a catch, flags on every incomplete pass and if not, like Jason said, receivers flop around like a fish out of water on the ground whining for a call, then a coaches challenge to challenge the non call.

No one tackles or blocks anymore, I'm not sure what they are doing out there.

It's just an awful ****show of a product that is basically unwatchable.

Except for all the ballbags who are in a fantasy league.

I had the misfortune to attend the Steelers-Rams game. I'm not sure what was worse - the Rams offense or the drunken louts in the crowd. Half the idiots in attendance were falling down drunk. Shouting and cursing like maniacs. Imagine paying $200 per ticket for the privilege of listening to a bunch of idiots talk through the entire game. As far as the Rams go, it is impossible to believe this is the same team that hung 54 points on KC last year in that Monday night game. Gurley has thrown in the towel. Whether for injury or some other reason isn't clear. Goff is absolutely horrible. His O-line is awful but he is wildly inconsistent and when he gets any pressure he panics. It's all the more unfortunate because the Rams defense has really improved. Donald was blowing up the Steelers. The Rams D scored 9 points and gave up only 10 to the Steelers offense and they still managed to lose. All the drunken louts attribute this to the soft LA team not liking the cold and the general superiority of the Steelers legacy even though many of the Steeler players are from California and guys like Donald are from Pittsburgh. Old myths die hard. Speaking of contrasts between the older generation and today, Joe Greene, Rocky Bleier, Franco Harris and others from the 70s team that beat the Rams in the SB were introduced at halftime. A truly great team but I thought the Steeler fans were going to faint. It was like the Pope showed up. A collective awe.

And the officiating was God awful. I'm biased but there were some calls/non calls that really blew my mind including the Steeler TD where Goff was hit as he was throwing the ball that went about 20 yards downfield where a Steeler picked it up on a bounce and ran it in. The refs called it a fumble even though it was about the longest throw downfield Goff managed the entire day.

Old habits die hard for Steelers fans, the vast majority of them are trapped in the 1970's in more ways than one, I can imagine the crowd when they trotted those corpses out...……..Pittsburg Dad is sure to do an episode on it...……….if the Patriots somehow win another SB this year and get to 7 (highly doubtful, we're looking strait down the barrel of a Ravens/49ers rematch from the 2012 ****show that masqueraded as a Super Bowl), Steelers fans will still say 4 out of 6 in the 1970's/early 1980's/4-0 in the Super Bowl during that run is a bigger achievement, saying nothing about being 2-2 since, one was THE worst bag job of a SB win ever vs the Seahawks, the second was last second rock fight of a win vs the powerhouse Arizona Cardinals...……

And God Lord, that "fumble" was horrendous, I was waiting for those refs to pull their disguises off and it was indeed Rocky Bleier and Franco Harris. Was Jerome Bettis there too or couldn't he fit through the tunnel...…………….man NFL players let themselves go like no other athletes out there, hockey players seem to age well generally, except for that turd who coaches the Blues, he's got a face that would make a freight train take a dirt road. Last time I checked, he was still whining about the refs; you can stop now, you won the Stanley Cup thanks to your crying...………………

Yup, that must have been a real treat being at that game, at least it didn't snow like it did in Green Bay.

Just as I dump all over the NFL, last nights game was epic.

Beyond epic.

No more undefeated teams, the 72 Doofins once again pop the champagne to toast their undefeated season when they played 14 stiffs on the way to a SB win.

Some hobo the 49ers found wandering around in the parking lot drills two FG's, then murders the game winner, setting up the Seahawks and their kicker does not miss.

Jimmy INT kept throwing the ball to the wrong team all night, the Seahawks were in command until a gift of a TD was handed to the 49ers.

In the end, the better team last night won.

We got a race now in the NFC west.

Would LOVE to see these two in a rematch in the NFCCG...…………..

Jimmy G was terrible last night; my son was pretty unhappy; he’s never been a Jimmy G fan. However, in all fairness, he was missing two crucial weapons, Kittle and Sanders, not to mention Robbie Gould. When he had Sanders, the offense hummed. Without him, it was a struggle.

The Cheathawks — I mean Seahawks — were the better team last night but they’re not the better team.

My opinion and I hate posting this, but the Ravens are the team to beat. They are doing it with unknowns who are playing really well together and a plan that teams are not figuring out. IF they stay healthy, they are going to be hard to beat, they will only beat themselves. They are getting better every week and as a Steeler fan, it is hard to watch.

Regarding the STeelers, the Defense is a completely different animal than the anemic thing they were for 2 plus years. FACT - that defense can probably beat any team in the league. FACT - that offense can single handedly lose to any team in the league. The offense gave the Rams 9 points out of 12 scored. The high snap is pure offense fault, it is not even good Rams Defense that got that, that was a gift on the third play of the game.

Again, say what you want about the Steelers, the organization itself is a class act, always has been and always will be and it is a solid one like a number of others. Not even saying this as a fan, but they deserve all the accolades they have received, they earned every Super Bowl win and honestly, the Seattle crying gets old. I watched that game and the Steelers won it fair and square, as WITH ANY game, there are disputed calls due to the human element and there always will be.

Regarding Fans - every NFL game I have ever been to, the home fans are *******s, no other way to describe it and most of the time drunken ones. It is the single most important reason I gave up NFL Season Tix to the Ravens (I had them as an NFL fan and business purpose). Long story short, I sat in very expensive seats only to have very drunken idiots around me at all times....................doesn't matter what stadium you are in except maybe the CHargers - fans are still drunken idiots but they are not Charger fans!

We will see how the season plays out but if I am a Patriots or Chiefs fan, I would be rooting for the Steelers D b/c they are the only team out there that can help you if they somehow upset the Ravens and the other AFC teams.

Agreed; they run that Harry High School RPO offense with a QB who can't throw with any sort of accuracy, he's a glorified running back, yet no one can figure out how to stop him.

As I said, I think we're looking at a Ravens/49ers rematch.

That 49ers front will absolutely destroy the Ravens...………………..

The Ravens and 49ers play in a few weeks. This is the game that makes my son nervous. Based upon their inability to contain Wilson when they seemed to have him bottled up, they might have a hard time with Jackson.

The Niners may have peaked. They are starting to wrack up some injuries. Had a tough game with the Cards. Not much big game experience on that team. I'm not sure their offense can get it done against the better teams. The Pats, Seattle, and Ravens will be able to points up even against their great D.

Running QBs can have some success in the NFL. The downside is that they usually don't finish the season because they take a lot of punishment. One big hit, pulled hamstring, or twisted ankle and it's all over.

RG III says hello...………….remember him?

Not to dwell on the awful officiating but I saw this call in person and couldn't believe it. Goff's arm is clearly going forward as demonstrated by the ball ending up downfield. There were a couple more calls in this game that were downright awful including two Steeler INTs negated due to pass interference. On one of those, the Rams challenged only to be told that they couldn't challenge PI on a turnover and they were charged a TO. Bizarre. The comment section of this You Tube video is hilarious.

I am amazed how the Patriots have been written off after their loss to the Ravens.

Give Belichick a full seasons worth of tape and he will find a way to stop Jackson. Not to mention I can't see New England losing to anyone twice in a season.

New England is still my pick to win the Super Bowl.
