N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

My favorite complimentary combo was Branch and Biletnikoff. One thing that all of these great tandems mentioned had in common was a fierce defense to get the ball back for the offense to do their thing. And in the Raiders case they had the added weapon of Ray Guy pinning teams back.

Joe

Ray Guy = Greatest punter ever.

Hell of a game by the over the hill/time is not their ally/they are toast/they are done/Patriots today.

The Pats played the #2 defense in the NFL tonight.

- Brady was 26-33 (78.8%), 271 yards, 1 td, 0 int (111.0 rating)
- Michel had 21 rushes for 96 yards (4.6 ypc)
- The Pats ran for 143 yards on the night
- The Pats had 23 first downs, 414 total yards, and held the ball for 38:52
- Folk went 3-3 with a long of 51 yards
- Red Zone: 4 trips, 2 TD, 2 FG

The offense played GREAT football tonight against an elite defense, and came up with some enormous scoring drives. So encouraging to see late in the year, the defense played great when it mattered.

Harry is a beast, now I see why he was their first round pick, he's been injured all year, he's finally healthy, he's like a young Anquan Boldin, their running game is clicking now too, which sets up the pass.

Peaking at the right time, typical of a Belichick team.

We'll see what happens in the playoffs; I like their chances...………………….

I too was very pleased with that offense against the bills d.
And other then two big passes, pats d held up fairly well too

The Jets beat the Steelers today...................WOW!!!...............I'm telling you, you can't buy that kind of excitement.

The Ducks goose is cooked, he turned out to be a turkey.

He stunk, so they put that other stiff in, he stunk worse, so the Duck got thrown back out there.

Stick the fourth string guy in there, what have you got to lose?

The Browns were up early on the World Champion Browns, but then the Browns turned it on and won...............the Browns coach looks like he should be trying to sell you a tire rotation with that oil change, the other Browns coach looks like a whiny crybaby getting ready to complain about the next call that doesn't go his way.

George,

C'mon, to be fair, Rudolph is hurt again, he went out opening 4th qtr, no big loss, the Steelers were long ago done for the year. Although, if the Titans lose, are they back in it? No idea nor care, as i said, just happy the defense is looking on the up for years to come. I would like to see this miserable season wrap.

That said, Tomlin may deserve coach of the year to get 8 wins out of this offense, that in itself is a miracle.

Ravens ran all over the Browns, they look for real, the only way they lose is if they beat themselves, I don't see them losing to anyone at Home. As much as it pains me to write that, they look that good.

The year after the Patriots blew the perfect season, Brady was done for the year in the middle of the first game; with a back up tomato can stiff of a QB, Belichick managed to go 11-5 that year, the first and only time in the history of the NFL an 11 win team did not make the playoffs.

And he didn't get a whiff of coach of the year.

Nor should Tomlin for winning 8 games.

And yes, it's shaping up that an 8-8 team is going to make the playoffs.

And no one is beating the Ravens, they'll be favored in every game they play going forward.

One play in the game today summed up their horseshoe up their *** season; Jackson fumbles, ball bounces strait up in the air, he grabs it, runs for a first down, gets absolutely crushed, gets up like a cyborg and goes back to the huddle.

Unbelievable, this pain in the balls of a team came out of nowhere this year, no one and I mean NO ONE predicted they'd finish 14-2.

Yet here they are.

Infuriating.

My point on Tomlin is he lost an entire offense and quite frankly they have won 8 games solely b/c of a defense that is shaping for years in the future. They are not there yet but they are going to be good, maybe elite, time will tell.

The offense is just awful, there is no way they deserve to play on the field with 90% of the teams out there, it is just that simple. I predict this offseason will be one of decent changes at skill positions. They will have to pick the young guys they think can have a future, then go with some heavy acquisition of some world class athletes. Replacing Bell, Brown, Heath Miller (have tried for several years now) and a new back up qb is proving to be a monumental challenge but one that needs to be addressed. It will be interesting what they do.

As to the Ravens, they are just playing like a winning team. Jackson is an elite athlete with serious skills. Now, I do remember a year when we had an elite Athlete who went 15 and 1 or 14 and 2 I cant remember, but somehow got burned by the Pats (Big Ben's first run) and lost the AFC championship when IMO we were not supposed to. Any Given Sunday, Lamar can lay an egg and that will be it. That is sometimes the trouble with being on top so to speak, you have everything to lose.

That was 2004 when Pittsburg went 15-1 in Ben's rookie season, that was the year that escaped mental patient Joey Porter was ranting on the sidelines about how the Patriots could "never, ever, ever, ever get to our level"...…………...they had just won 2 out of 3 super bowls, so not sure what level he was babbling about.

And yes, that game was too big for Ben, so we'll see what happens if the Ravens get to the AFCCG, the playoffs are a whole different animal, so we'll see what happens...……………….

The Eagles beat Dallas, they're a win away from hosting a playoff game.

Oh how on earth did Hobo Joe Doug Peterson find a way to beat Dallas, I need to know how that stooge pulled that game out.

San Francisco to me does not look like the same team as they did earlier in the year, Seattle is up and down, Green Bay does not impress me, New Orleans...……..meh...…………...the NFC as much as Doug ****s on the AFC is no great shakes either.

Oh maybe the Eagles will catch fire and find a way to back into another Super Bowl appearance, can't wait!!

We'll see how the Bears do tonight vs the Chefs, if the Chefs lose and they finish with the same record as the Texans, they face the Bills in the first round, good luck with that.

I am beginning to think the whole NFL is off this year with injuries and honestly some transactions just not being good fits. It explains how teams like the Titans, Steelers, Eagles, etc are hanging around. There is a few front runners, but even they have issues, ie the Ravens stumbled for a half today, Pats are just off in some games, Chiefs took an entire season to wake up and Cowboys, oh what a mess. Not to mention the disappointment of teams like the Rams, Seahawks, Texans - way too much talent to limp through the seaons in case of 2 of them and outright fall flat on face in case of 1.

Odd year.

Good news. The Pats played like champions. Bad news. They had to do this against Buffalo who quite frankly isn't that good. The Buffs decent record is a reflection of how weak the AFC is this year with teams like Miami and Cincy. Championship teams can raise the level the of their play but they shouldn't have to do that at home against a middling opponent. I don't count the Pats out though. They are still better than the Chiefs and wrecks like the Steelers who might back in but it's going to be a tough nut to go on the road against the Ravens. The Pats offense is struggling to break the 20 point mark in most games. That won't be enough to beat Baltimore or maybe the Niners. On the other hand, all the top NFC teams look like they peaked too early. The Packers, Niners and Seahawks are struggling. The Saints are great at home but their defense is questionable.

Even though Bills played a bunch of tomato cans, their defense is legit, they gave the Browns all they could handle, came down to the last possession.

And yes, it looks like the Browns are a shoe in for the Super Bowl, we'll see what happens in the playoffs, I also agree about the NFC, too many of those teams peaked too early this year. All it's going to take is one hit on Jackson and the whole thing changes, their star running back has a calf issue now, he did something on a non contact play, those sort of things are never good, but he'll have three weeks to rest it, but calf strains are tricky, so we'll see...…………………….

I’m going to disagree about the Saints and 49ers. They’re both playing well, scoring when they need a score. Yes, 49ers have lost three games but each of them were on the last play of the game. They could easily be 15-0. Considering the Seahawks’ injuries, SF should be the number 1 seed but you never know in this league.

Injuries are always the big unknown. Seattle may be toast now. It looks like they will be without their top backs. Both appear to be gone for the season. And they are a running team. I would think the injury risk was as great or greater for Brady as it is for Jackson on anyone else, though. Particularly at his age and the way he is eating turf this year. In past years, Brady hardly ever got touched. I hope both he and Jackson are healthy if they meet up in the AFC championship so there's no excuses about injuries, the refs, the sun in their eyes etc. Let the players decide the outcome. Best team wins. I remember from Jackson's college career that he didn't play particularly well in big games. He would have 600 yards and ten TDs against some no name team but then get stoned when it counted. So I'm looking forward to see how he does in the playoffs as the MVP favorite.

A few games ago I was lamenting the fact that Jimmy G. didn't seem to have game winning drive ability. Now I am lamenting the fact that game winning drives are becoming a constant need for the Niners.

The Seattle game should be interesting, to say the least.

I binge watched the "NFL 100 All Time Team" on the NFL Network last night.

I was surprised how well done the show is. I was apprehensive about watching it for a few reasons, but it is worth watching for Bill Belichick's player analysis alone. He is insightful and engaging, not to mention pretty funny!

What a wierd week - KC wins and NE loses, WHAT to the Dolphins? And lost a bye, I can't believe it. I am going to dinner so not even watching the Steelers, I figure with KC winning, Houston doesn't care and therefore will rest everyone, TN wins and is in. Oh well, the year started out and I said I was done, so why not finish it the same way.

Crap year of football in this household both college and pro.

Fun with numbers: Tampa Bay Qb, Jameis Winston, set an NFL record today, becoming the only member of the 30-30 club (30 TD passes, 30 Interceptions in the same season), when his final pass of the season was a pick-6 that cost his team an OT loss to Atlanta. Winston finishes his record setting season with 33 TD passes and 30 interceptions. He also threw for over 5000 yards. None of this really did Tampa much good as they finish 7-9. -- Al
