NBA Playoffs (1 Viewer)

The modern NBA continues to make me chuckle.

Chris Paul is about to pass Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson in career assists.

Yet he has no championships, let alone an appearance in the NBA Finals.

The Jazz are a league leading 24-6 and I don't recognize the name of a single player on that team. My Lakers are struggling without AD. They are a bubble playoff team without him. And he is likely out for a good while.

not only is AD out for who knows how long...
but another starter...
Schroder has also been out...
between his and AD's absence...
someone needs to make up the 37 points per game they contribute...

hardly panic time...
in the NBA all you need to do is make the playoffs and be healthy for the playoffs...

The Lakers could finish 8th in the West, then blitzkrieg their way to the finals............I don't see any team in the West or the East that has a chance vs them, it's like Jordan and the Bulls and how they smoked the East and then destroyed whoever they played in the finals.........................which is why NBA ratings are so low as outside of Lakers fans, no one cares, it's a foregone conclusion they are winning it again this year.

And probably next year too.

Just like in baseball, it's a 99% probability it will be the Yankees vs the Dodgers in the World Series.

Maybe the Padres, maybe the Braves, but it ends there.............no one in the AL will challenge the Yankees.

I think the AL is a bit more wide open than you think. The Yankees starting pitching is not imposing. They need a lot of pieces to fall into place. Cole is solid and Taillon, the pitcher they acquired from the Pirates, should be good but then you have Severino coming back from surgery, Domingo German possibly from suspension, and Corey Kluber is a ? mark.

George...yea...agreed...
Lakers will be in the playoffs and most probably do well if 100% healthy...
just like baseball...and to some degree football...
where series are played to advance...
the cream usually rises...
not so much like football where one lucky/hot/miracle 4 quarters advances a team...
just make the playoffs and stay healthy through them...

I think you are overlooking Brooklyn...
they are just learning to play together and when they do...
they are gonna be really good...

Harden...Durant and Irving on one team is too much...
almost 120 million to pay those 3 guys...

the three of them together average 75 points per game...
all around 25 per game...
you don't hear a stat like that often...

by playoffs...they are gonna be a booger for the East...
and then whoever they meet from the West if they end up in the Finals...

you haven't been posting lately...was starting to worry about you...
and was gonna call but I saw your activity showed you were on currently...so didn't...

Agreed 100%; in a series of best of 7 playoffs, the cream rises to the top vs football where a lucky bounce, bad call or fumble can turn a game around, you need to get hot for four games vs 28 games.......................glad things are getting back to normal for you fellas from Texas, what a mess, just awful to see and hear about................been slammed with orders and sorting out collections; we both know how important collection purchases are.............;).........

I'll defer to you as you're much more well versed on MLB than I am, I'm sure once the Yankees get Kluber on their extra special training program, he'll go 22-2 and be lights out..............................and you don't need four star pitching when your lineup hits 4,000 home runs over the season, they'll just bludgeon teams to death..................

the Lakers got absolutely pounded last night...
Utah Jazz totally blew the away in the 2nd & 3rd quarter...
had such a huge lead they just coasted in the 4th...
4 loses in a row...
Schroder and Ad need to get back in the line up pretty quick...

The regular season is an 82 game exhibition season, all that matters is the playoffs.

With the refs being in the bag and corrupt across the league, there is no such thing as a home court advantage, the Lakers played every playoff game on the road last year and still won it all.

They have the two best players in the league, no one stands a chance against them come playoff time.

Period.

I'm not as optimistic as you...
to crown them 1/3 through the season...
I dunno...
I wish I could be...but I'm not...
I think you are underrating...Brooklyn...the Jazz and the Clippers...

Once the playoffs start, the Jazz and the Clippers will find a way to crap themselves.............they have a clear and easy path to the finals.

Where some tomato can like the Heat last year will be waiting to get demolished in 5 or 6 games.

Again, it's like the NBA when Jordan and the Bulls were kings; so boring, so predictable.....................in the 1980's, you had Boston, Philly, Detroit, LA and Houston, now you have the Lakers.....................................and...............................nobody.

Fans don't care anymore as it's a foregone conclusion, the league let AD go to the Lakers, they have no one to blame but themselves, there is zero competitive balance in the league..........they were just talking about this today on sports talk radio here.................LeBron left Cleveland, built a super team in Miami, left and went back to Cleveland, built another super team, left and went to LA, build a third super team.........basketball is by far the easiest sport to build a super team...........no other sport comes close.

Ratings for 2021 are in the toilet.

No one cares.

I truly doubt that we will ever see another homegrown dynasty in the NBA.

The Warriors were probably the last one. They won with draft picks, Curry, Thompson and Green. No big free agents.

The last great homegrown dynasty before that was the Spurs with Duncan, Ginobili and Parker. No big free agents.

Brooklyn...

with Kevin Durant...James Harden and Kyrie Irving is sooooooooo stacked...
with 3 superstars...when/if they gel...
they are gonna be unbeatable...

granted the Lakers have the best duo...
but Brooklyn has the absolute best trio...
this is an unbelievable group...

I don't think the league let them amass these 3 guys on one team anymore than I think the league let LA put Lebron and Davis together...
what does that mean...the league let them?
it's an open market...
they made the trade and paid the contracts...

after losing 4 in a row...
the Lakers got Schroder back in the line up last night...
and he added 22 points to finally get a win against Portland...

still no word on when AD will return...

Look at the 3 teams most likely to win the championship this year, the Lakers, the Clippers and the Nets.

They are all led by free agents or players acquired via trade. No homegrown talent among their core.

The Lakers have Davis and LeBron, the Clippers have Kawhi and George and the Nets have Harden, Irving and Durant.

it is nearly impossible to be a fan of 90% of the league. Even if you get the chance to draft a once in a lifetime talent, for example Zion in New Orleans, chances are they are going to leave.

This is great if you are a fan of one of those teams that everyone wants to play for, however this means that the rest of the league, and the games that they play are irrelevant.

The Lakers are currently the #2 team in the west but they are only five games ahead of the Warriors who are the #8 seed. That's not a lot of room between top and bottom of the playoff rankings. One run or funk and a team can move up or down the standings a lot.

As noted in my previous posts I am not a fan of LeBron.

On the other hand I have to tip my cap to the fact that last night he sat out his first game of the season.

He had played in all 36 Laker games before that.

In the NBA age of “load management” that is an impressive feat.

yea...
