NBA Playoffs (2 Viewers)

In fairness, rating for all sports are down: baseball playoffs, down 39%, Stanley Cup, down 61% and NFL football, down 14%. People are just not that interested.

Year to year, game to game no sport (with a series of games in the finals or World Series, MLB, NBA or NHL) has a bigger differential in viewing stats for the finals than the NBA.

According to a few articles this has a lot to do with gambling. The NBA affords better options for gamblers with point spreads and over/unders than the MLB or the NHL. Thus the viewing numbers are largely skewed by bettors as opposed to actual fans of the sport.

That was an entertaining game. Close but no cigar yet for the Lakers. LeBron was about the only guy to show up. Butler played lights out. AD has disappeared on offense. He looked hurt down the stretch. I've never seen a guy get injured so many times and fall to the court. It happens at least five times a game. For once Vogel had no answers. Putting Morris on Butler with the game on the line was puzzling. Butler just drove to the hoop and scored or was fouled every time. They have to double him and put LeBron on him in the clutch. How about those career playoff stats they showed last night for LeBron? Unreal. Love him or hate him they are impressive. Most playoff games, minutes, and points. He has something like 2K more playoff points than Jordan and still has a couple more years still left in him. Onward.

Miami is just prolonging the inevitable.

In the history of the NBA a No. 5 seed has never won the championship.

So no suspension for this cheap shot then huh?

What a bush league, chicken **** cheap shot.

The leagues statement "We reviewed the play from a number of angles and we are taking no action over this."

Just beyond sackless; if Crowder punched the king in the face, he'd be suspended until 2025.

Just watched this, seems to be a clear swing by AD that looks intentional. I would think it is a technical foul at a minimum. From that look, it appears there should have been some consequence. That is not "just basketball".

I don't like it...that 1 second clip does look egregious...I wonder what happened before that...that had them both sprawling on the ground...from my personal experience...the foul is usually called on the retaliation...however...all I have to see is the 1 second clip of AD...not what happened before...

this is what NBA Sports is saying...

I’ve been able to view other angles of the incident (which are not public) — particularly the baseline camera angle — and from those angles Davis catches Crowder more in the neck and pushes him, it’s not a punch. It should have been a common foul in my view, but from those angles you could even debate if it’s a foul.

The NBA reviews all footage from every game for this type of incident. Sources told NBC Sports that after the review of all angles, the contact was not considered worthy of a flagrant.

[h=1]NBA: Two calls that should have gone Los Angeles Lakers' way missed late in Game 5 loss[/h]

Looking good at the half. The Lakers are dropping the hammer. Fantastic D. Rondo playing lights out. Sweet seventeen. Almost time for some Randy Newman. Cue those balloons.

congrats to the Lakers and the Heat...
Rondo was huge tonight...
still looks like he should in drag on Hollywood Blvd...
but I loved his contributions in Game 6...
he was the wild card...

Miami...even though they lost...must feel good about how far they went...
great team...they plowed through the East with ease...

Californication...^&grin

Not a basketball fan but I was hoping any team that did not have Le Bron in it would win. Being an ex police officer you can probably appreciate why.

Congratulations to Mike Miller, Doug Smith, Tom Dubel and any other Laker fans on this forum, the Lakers dominated the playoffs this year and left no doubt who the best team is in the NBA.

On this forum I have used sports as a place to be sarcastic, since my Dad passed away I try not to take things seriously anymore, life is short, specifically when it comes to rank the importance of sports.

If ANYy of my comments were taken by ANYONE to demean other teams accomplishments, it was not my intent, we are all fans of our own teams and any team that wins a championship is deserving of that title, it does not diminish the accomplishments of any other team.

FROM THIS POINT FORWARD WHENEVER I PARTICIPATE ON THIS FORUM, there will no longer be anymore schoolyard, ballbreaking, sarcastic, ridiculing, demeaning comments directed at any opposing teams, players or fans.

If I offended anyone at any time, it was not my intent, if I did, I am sorry.

I'm done, I've said my last sarcastic sports related comment on this forum.

Respectfully,
George Guerriero

Mike,
Always enjoy our private conversations..................thanks for keeping it real......................

If you take George, Mike or Doug and their passion for their favorite sports teams too seriously that is more of a reflection on you than them.

Say it ain't so George !

As a non US sports fan the only reason I pop into these threads was to read your totally unbiased comments about your home teams^&grin. The technical sporty stuff however was all Greek to me.

The NBA is going to start playing again on Dec. 22. That is not much of a break.

The Lakers have lost Dwight Howard but are stocking up on free agents. They are going to be tough to beat. Last year they were 56-0 when leading after three quarters.

The season starts tonight. It seems like only yesterday that the Lakers were winning the NBA championship! LOL. In a rare good move for the NBA, the Lakers will not be raising the banner until fans are allowed to attend the games.
