NBA Playoffs (1 Viewer)

The Celts are wearing jerseys tonight that say "Free $59" and "Dunkin Donuts or Death".

"He'll be here all night folks, don't forget to tip your waitress and hey, try the veal"........................

"AND THE HEAT ARE ONE GAME AWAY FROM THE NBA FINALS!!"

Breen says it like he's as full mast.

Some rookie ballbag Herro torched them for 37 ****ing points tonight, that's just all sorts of awesome.

Just lose next game, they will never have an easier path to the finals again and they choked it away, Stevens got totally outcoached by that ballbag Spolstra who the entire time he coached the Heat and LeBron, he just stood there like a ****ing cigar store indian and LeBron ran the team, yet that clueless boob and his Harry high school zone defense is going to the finals.

Wonderful.

I hope the Lakers sweep them 4-0 and outscore them 500 to 0 in the process.

I watched low lights of the Lakers’ loss.

I couldn’t help but laugh when they showed Davis miss a wide open jumper from inside the key. He stopped and said something to the ref looking for a foul, even though no one was within 5 feet of him. Meanwhile the Nuggets broke out on a fast break and scored an easy layup.

Great game last night. The Nuggets scrapped the whole way but fell short. Murray was a beast. He was making circus shots. Kudos to Rondo and Howard for helping the Lakers to pull this one out. The Nuggets could be up 3-1 but that AD game winning shot in game two was a dagger.

I watched that game...Denver pushed them hard...Murray made an acrobatic shot falling to the ground that was unbelievable...AD started out 6-6 on field goals...ended up 10-15 making 13-14 free throws...this has been an entertaining series...Lebron held the ball on too many possessions tile the clock got down to crunch time and then threw up some pretty unstable attempts...

I have to confess to not being interested in basketball as a sport. However big fan of Shaq and Charles as per Daily Mail USA top story at time of writing. Takes guts in current environment.

It's a toxic culture. Most athletes and celebrities are frightened to say anything that doesn't conform to the standard line. Good for Sir Charles. I always liked him.

glad to see the Lakers clinch and get to the finals...
Lebron dominated the 4th quarter...
totally took the game over...
16 points in the 4th alone...
with 38 on the night...
kudos to Denver...
they are a very good team...
and will be in the playoffs for several years at least...

It's incredible how the Lakers got Wilt, Kareem, Shaq and unibrow all in their prime and stampeded to multiple titles.

The NBA is a boring sport to watch, the referees are the story most of the time, some of the calls are just horrendously bad..................if you took LeBron and Unibrow off the Lakers, they would be one of the worst teams in the league, the drop off in talent after those two is precipitous, yet they steamrolled to the finals, never once in doubt along the way.

The Clippers would have given them a run for their money but they pulled an epic choke job, just pathetic to blow a 3-1 lead and then quit basically in game 7, totally horrendous effort.

All you need in the NBA is a dominant center and a guy who can shoot lights out or drive to the basket and either score or draw foul after foul after foul.

There isn't a team in the NBA that can challenge the Lakers this year or for probably the next two to three years, so here comes another Lakers run of titles..................

I can hear TV's clicking off across the country, the sport is a joke.

George,
And if I remember right didn't they get an albeit very young Kobe (may he rest in peace and many prayers him and for his family) for that stiff Vlade Divac and some pocket change or something? I just remember at the time thinking everyone knew the Lakers scored big time in that most ridiculous "deal", as they do more than anyone else. And like you said, it's a joke how the Lakers land so many top players in their prime. I just can't take the NBA seriously. It suffers from a serious lack of integrity.

Joe:

The one thing it suffers from even more than a lack of integrity is a lack of unpredictability.

In the last 67 years a No. 1 seed has won 49 of the last 67 championships.

NBA teams have the smallest rosters in sports, building a “dynasty” really isn’t difficult considering all you need is two of the top 5 players in the league on the same team. Just look at how many repeat/back to back champions there are in the NBA compared to the NFL, MLB and NHL.

As a fan of the Warriors even I tuned out as their marches to championships in recent years were all but guaranteed.

I thought the conspiracy theory was that the NBA was rigged for the Lakers to win for TV ratings? Now no one is going to watch because the Lakers are in the finals? I'm confused. And Wilt was certainly not in his prime when the Lakers got him. He averaged 50+ points a game in Philadelphia. He was toward the end of his career. Arguably Kareem and Shaq were also not in the their prime when they came to the Lakers. Kareem won a championship in Milwaukee but played several years in LA before doing it again. They benefited from playing with Magic and Kobe. The Lakers haven't even been to the playoffs in eight years. But now that they are clearly the best team, it's suddenly all a fix.

Now that the finals are almost here I will be watching. Although I’m not a Laker fan, I do like LeBron and hope he can add title number four to his resume.

As to Jason’s comment that building a dynasty isn’t all that difficult, my response is three words: New York Knicks. They are an example of incompetence and futility, and any other adjective you can think of. I’m glad that I was able to see the Knicks beat the Lakers in 1970 and 1973 because I doubt I will see them win again in my lifetime. I’m also glad that later on in life I was able to meet Dave DeBusschere a few times and have a couple of drinks with him at Smith & Wollensky in NY.

so true...this is how championship teams and dynasties are made...in football it's the big three...running back...receiver and QB...might be some lean years until you build a team...but once you get the nucleus...you're pretty set for a few years...barring injuries...

this is how Auerbach's Celtics built a team winning winning 9 NBA championships in 10 years...the team was definitely stacked...Bill Russell dominating the center position with Cousey or Havelicek at guard/forward...and a host of pretty average players complementing the roster...spilt that crew up...and I doubt he would have been near so successful...but kudos to him for recognizing their talent and building a team...

the Lakers had a rough time when Shaq left...Kobe couldn't do it all by himself...then bringing in Gasol...who was ever hardly deemed a dominant center by anyone...they still somehow managed to win 2 championships without Shaq...

now with AD and Lebron...they have a small nucleus built...and may enjoy some success for a few years...Lebron is no kid now...gonna be 36 in a few months...hardly in his prime...

most of you won't remember this...but the NBA (Stern) vetoed a trade that would have brought Chris Paul to the Lakers in 2011 to couple with Kobe...starting the building of a possible dynasty....this was a convoluted trade between 3-4 teams that all the teams involved in the trade agreed to...so why didn't this happen?

feeling that this would make the Lakers too dominant...Stern...part owner of the league owned Hornets...in an unprecedented move...vetoed the trade for the never explained statement of "basketball reasons"...he vetoed the trade that all the trading teams agreed on...

okay...can't let that happen...lol...

would that classify as a conspiracy?

It's great to see you're back as a die hard Lakers fan after taking the last 10 years off.

Kudos to you.

Enjoy your championship; such a hard fought, difficult hill to climb.

About as difficult as it was for the Germans to blitzkrieg their way through Poland and France.

Maybe next year we can see the basketball version of the king and his court, Lebron and Unibrow vs the rest of the league, think of all the money the Lakers will save by only paying two players................

And the fix mantra is the bullshit I had to listen to for the past 20 years of how the league greased the skids to let the Patriots win all those Super Bowls; the refs were in their back pocket, the league wanted a top shelf team to boost ratings.........then when that died down, it was all about how they cheated their way to all those championships.

Turnabout is fair play......................

watched the Miami/Celtics game tonight...
Miami really surprised me as they are now in the Finals...
I guess they are a lot better than I thought...
they have been on an amazing run so far...
12-3 in the playoffs...

I wonder what the Indiana Pacer's...Milwaukee Buck's and Boston Celtic's fans thought before their series with them started...

Miami knocked off the #1...#3 and #4 seeds in the East...
went 12-3 through that run...

I remember when the Astros signed Greinke at the deadline...
before the playoffs even started...
there were several posts on here congratulating the Astros on winning the World series...

how did that work out?

I'll take any championship. It's been a long drought for LA. And if it is not difficult for some reason, so be it. The Celts probably don't think of Miami as being an easy team to defeat. They just got steamrolled by them.

Does anyone on this thread really believe that Miami is going to win?

Oh but think of the interesting sub plots; that smarmy ballbag Pat Riley vs his old team, Lebron vs the former first super team he built......you know, before he "went home to Cleveland because he owed it to those fans to go back", then he bailed on them when he lost twice to the Warriors, then he went to LA to build another super team.

Yeah great, Miami is on a roll, Butler and bunch of nobodies in the finals; look for Miami to go stone cold now from the 3 point line, Iggy/Uggy/whoever that former warrior is who rose from the dead to play well last night to climb back into his coffin and that two foot tall ballbag Herro go ice cold now, how did that stiff put up 37 points the other night?

Lakers in three.

I'm rooting for a meteor to hit the stadium.
