NBA Playoffs (1 Viewer)

I wonder what the Indiana Pacer's...Milwaukee Buck's and Boston Celtic's fans thought before their series with them started...

Miami knocked off the #1...#3 and #4 seeds in the East...
went 12-3 through that run...

I remember when the Astros signed Greinke at the deadline...
before the playoffs even started...
there were several posts on here congratulating the Astros on winning the World series...

how did that work out?

The NBA is by far the most predictable sport going.

The last back to back champion in MLB was 20 years ago. Last years champ didn’t even make the playoffs this year.

In the history of the NBA only two teams have won the championship and then missed the playoffs the next year.

Lest you think I am biased against the Lakers look at the Celtics winning 8 straight titles from 1959 to 1966.

Can you imagine the Astros winning 8 straight titles once they acquired Greinke?

So far, so good. The Lakers put a beatdown on last night. Blowouts worry me though. It seems like when that happens, the losing team rallies itself in the next game. But I'm sure the refs will fix that.

I watched that game...Miami came out high energy to start the game...the Lakers were down 13 points in the first 6 minutes of the game...had 5 turnovers in that span...getting blown out...sloppy and slow uninspired play by them...looked like they were totally out hustled on both offense and defense...called a time out and dominated the rest of the game going up by 31 at one point...outscored Miami 75 -30 in one span...Miami may be short handed in Game 2 with key injuries to 2 players listed day to day right now...

I forgot the game was on last night, was watching baseball on 42 different channels, switched over to see LeBron almost have a stroke when the ref called a blocking foul on him.

His histrionics when he has a foul called on him would make a great meme.............................I think the Lakers were up 15 at the time.

Yeah.........................the Heat shot their load in the previous three series.

This series is already over.

The opening game of the series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat brought 7.41 million viewers to ABC, the smallest audience for the finals since at least 1994, when total viewers began to be regularly recorded.

The previous low was 8.06 million for Game 3 of the 2007 NBA Finals.

Both of these ****ty ratings have one thing in common; LeBron was involved.

And gee, Bam and Drajic are doubtful with injuries for game 2; if the Lakers win by more than 50, can the Heat just spare us and forfeit the last next two games?

I'm sure the league is thrilled with this massacre as it plays out.

Honestly, if you put together an all star team from the East, they'd have no shot at LeBron and Unibrow, two of the top 5 players in the league on the same team.

Gee, the next few years are just going to be wonderful............................................

yea...
it went from 27 fans watching to over 7 million now...
sounds pretty popular all the sudden...

I bet a lot of Celtic fans will skip watching the Lakers/Miami series...
not many good vibes for the Shamrocks watching that series...
probably broke their tv sets watching the Boston/Miami series...

The city of Boston has seen TWELVE championships in the past 19 years, EIGHTEEN chances to win one, that's an average of roughly one a year.

Trust me; we're good.

I'd rather light my hair on fire that root for a team with Lebron the crybaby on it.

For the last ten years, you can count the number of people in LA who gave a **** about the Lakers, now all of a sudden their fans come out of the woodwork.

Big deal.

The same nitwit who wrote the song "Short people"; real catchy tune, some real lyrical gems like this one;

"Short people, they got no reason to live"..................

Imagine writing a song like that in 2020, that boob would be tarred and feathered today.

That sounds a bit woke but let's get the social justice t shirts rolling "Short lives matter." $59 at the local strip mall. Even Whitey Bulger ended up in LA.

Again with the woke comment?

Ok, I'm done with the basketball thread.

Enjoy your championship.

Lakers struggled tonight to put Miami away in Game 2...
and that was with 2 Heat starters out...

shot selection was terrible...
47 3 point attempts...
that's unreal...
and only made 16 of them...(34%)...
that's not their game...

I can see how Miami got to the finals...
they play 100% from start to finish...
a team of guys that really hustle...

was cool to see Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) back with his "Kobe RIP" t-shirt and Laker's guitar playing the National Anthem again...

The Heat hung around but they looked beat with no hope of winning. AD is just unreal. He is a man among boys. The MVP of the playoffs.

Lakers are taking a beat down tonight...
3rd quarter almost over and AD has only taken 6 shots...
need a big 4th quarter to get through it..

Lakers looked dismal last night...
and that was with Miami's 2 best players out with injuries...
AD took only 9 shots...scored only 15 points...
Butler matched AD and Lebron together with 40 points himself...
I hope it was just an off night as the Lakers missed a chance to really put some distance between them to the Championship...

The Heat out hustled the Lakers and the Butler played out of his mind. AD played about as badly as he could and they still had a shot. Not worried though. Can't see Miami winning three of the last four. Almost time to raise number 17 in Lakerland.

Would expect the Lakers to start doubling Butler early in the game similar to how they took Harden out of the Houston series. If the game is close toward the end, they will put James on him and make someone else win it for the Heat. Expect the Lakers to be fired up tonight after a lousy performance in game 3 and the criticism of the James leaving the court before the game was over.

Lakers got by tonight but it wasn't easy...
don't care what anyone says...
Miami is a very good team...
they hustle the entire 48 minutes...
would be hard to to lose the title now...
can't see anyone beating the Lakers 3 in a row...
but you never know...

they beat Lebron up tonight...he was on the floor all night...
I think someone punched him in the nads in the 4th qtr...

The Lakers are 56-0 now when leading going into the 4th quarter. Vogel made a great adjustment putting AD on Butler. That took away his drives to the hoop. He apparently is not a great three point shooter so that minimized his impact on the game. Not pretty but a huge win.

Yawn, are they still playing? What a joke this season is. Apparently I am not the only former fan who wrote this fiasco off, apparently it is the lowest rated season........................ever. I assume the articles are true, but down 48% is a big number.

Look I really have no dog in this hunt so to speak, but after reading excuses, excuses, excuses from the NBA and everyone trying to rationalize it, I just have to laugh. They would be better off just owning it and working to change the narrative and bring back fans. It is not just about politics and outspokeness as to why the ratings are down, it is a whole laundry list of shenanigans. Just own and fix it. Stop rationalizing it and this is coming from a Lakers fan who normally would be happy at winning another championship. I by no means hope they lose in any way, I just flat out don't care and apparently I am not alone.
