NBA Playoffs (1 Viewer)

Nice win by the Lakers last night over the Knicks. The Knicks are vastly improved. I didn't realize Randle was still in the league. I last remember him playing with Kobe. LeBron should be ready to go in the next game.

I watched that game on TNT...
big come back to get to OT and finally win...
still looks like they may be in play ins...not play offs...if in any post season at all...
AD is hurt again...
may sit out tonight vs Houston...
Lebron may play...
las night with Schroder...Caruso and Lebron out..
it was comically sad...
they had no ball handlers to bring the ball up court...
and it seemed like they had about 30 turnovers...

Doug...

wild game last night...
but a wins a win...
Lakers trying to avoid the play-ins entry format...
so there is still hope...

4 starters out for the Lakers...
no Lebron...Schroder...AD...or Caruso...
but the Lakers squeaked by powerhouse Houston for a win...^&grin
bad thing is both Portland and Dallas won too...
all fighting for the coveted #6 spot...

Mike- The Lakers seem content to let their players get healthy and save them for the playoff run rather than making an effort to improve their playoff ranking. Risky but they are going nowhere without a healthy LeBron and AD. I really like the depth on this team but the injuries have not allowed them to jell. Drummond is a beast. Caldwell-Pope is playing well. This team is better than the one last year if they can get their act together but the sand is running out of the glass to do that. It's almost impossible to flip a switch and become a championship caliber team in the playoffs after struggling.

agreed...
the team they put on the floor last night...playing at home in LA...
being able to just barely squeak by the lowly Houston Rockets(16-54)...worst record in the entire NBA...
is not going anywhere in the playoffs...

with this abbreviated 72 game NBA season due to Covid...
Lebron has missed 24 games already...
right at 1/3 of the season...
AD must be close to that # too...

what scares me the most...
whether they enter the playoffs through the play-in or play-off format...
I have not even heard a mention about Lebron or AD even participating in light practice sessions...
I don't think anyone can just come off the bench after such a long absence and be 100%...
you gotta shake the rust off...
in the play-in format...
win or go home...
that's a dangerous proposition for LA...

looks like the play-ins for the Lakers...
they need to beat New Orleans tonight...
and Denver needs to beat Portland tonight...
Denver won't be motivated to win...
will probably play limited minutes for starters...
so don't expect them to help the Lakers to get the last play off spot...

still...
the play-ins are better than nothing...
everybody is healthy...albeit...pretty rusty...
certainly taking the long road to a repeat...
but you never know...

what a strange format for the NBA playoffs...
the playoffs might be longer than the regular season...^&grin

I expect Denver to roll over and get pounded by Portland tonight. No one wants to help the Lakers out. They have LeBron, AD, and Schroeder all back in the line up. More or less healthy for the playoffs. I think the Lakers have no problem winning at least one of the two play in games and making it to the playoffs. It might even help them to have an extra game to get everyone back in playing shape.

Don’t forget that Curry has a 22-16 record against Lebron, including 15-7 in the playoffs.

"It's "widely believed" that the NBA will expand past 30 teams "to recoup losses from the pandemic," reports @michaelgrange.Seattle and Las Vegas are the frontrunners to add a team, per Grange. The NBA's last expansion was 2004 when they added Charlotte."

Awesome; make a watered down broken toilet of a league even more so by adding two teams that will have zero chance of winning a title.

Give Seattle a team back, give Vegas another team.......................no doubt Vegas is soon to be a 4 sport city..............

Entertaining game between the Lakers and Warriors. LeBron is clearly still rusty and maybe not 100% but that was a clutch three he hit to win the game. Curry is unbelievable with his range. Kerr panicked and called a timeout with only 2 seconds left. The only option is to heave up a three off the inbounds pass at that point. I don't think anyone wants to play the Lakers or Warriors in the playoffs. Both teams are hot.

Curry probably had 3-4 three pointers longer than Lebron's 30 footer...
that was one lucky shot..
it's a sad day for the Lakers when Caruso is the leading scorer at halftime...
need to play with that second half intensity the whole game...
still...a wins a win...

The Lakers and Warriors game had huge ratings. So the NBA is bringing back the play in format again next year. It did generate greater interest in the bottom tier teams to end the season but I think that was largely a fluke in that the Lakers fell into that position due to the injuries. In most normal seasons, a championship caliber team with superstars will not be matching up in the 7-8 seeds. When the teams are smaller market teams no one will be watching.

I like it. I actually watched parts of all the games although yesterday’s game was so bad I watched about five minutes of it. Looking forward to tonight’s game and, of course, the Knicks and Nets games. I’m sure all of NY will be rooting for the Nets tomorrow night. Sorry George.

LeBron James violated NBA’s coronavirus protocols...

https://sports.yahoo.com/lebron-james-violated-nba-coronavirus-094629142.html

according to NBA protocol rules...
Lebron could/should be scratched for the 1st game vs Phoenix...
and maybe shouldn't have played vs GS...

LeBron is anti vaccine correct?

If he attended that event and even though he was around people who did get the vaccine or showed proof of a negative test, he violated NBA protocol, period and should pay the price.

We'll see what happens.

Don't hold your breath.

Lebron was stupid to violate the NBA Covid protocol...
that's a given...

but just saying...

he may be banned in Game 1 vs Phoenix...
but he maybe should of been banned in the play-in game they advanced in against GS...
don't know what they can do about that now...

but lets be real about it...
is there were a 5 day suspension...

doubt the Lakers would of beat GS without Lebron...
and he maybe wouldn't of even been eligible for the loser's tournament that GS just got eliminated from...

There is only one guy on the Lakers who is not vaccinated. And it's not LeBron.

okay...so...maybe I'm wrong...

this guy...who I think is a league spokesman...
says that violations of this level have gone on all year without disciplinary actions...
carrying a low risk of exposure...

the NBA has levels of violation punishment...from warnings...to fines...to suspensions...

this event didn't rise to the level of risk that results in suspensions...
that's according to this guy in the video...
whoever he is...:smile2:
