Terps almost let this one get away. Another close win against Penn State. Penn State!!! :rolleyes2: Don't understand why they are the "kings of turnovers" yr after yr. As I said, we'll take 'em anyway we can get 'em. Go Terps!! Chris
Chris, watching the Terps gives me ulcers, and has ever since I started watching them when Driesell came to town. Very good point about the turnovers. Seem to have hundreds of them every game, game after game, season after season. This run of close wins isn't doing my nerves any good but I think it a good sign as at least they are winning the close games instead of losing them as seemed so often the case in past years. Still think they have to play better on the road or they will be going home early. -- Al

Al:

I am looking forward to seeing what the Terps do against Wisconsin next week. Although I do not expect them to win, I would like to see them stay with the Badgers. Should be a good game to watch.

Jason, best thing about that game is it is being a home game for UMd, but I'm pretty sure it won't be enough. I shall remain hopeful, but realistic. UMd has to bring their A-game defense (if they can find it) or it won't be much of a game. -- Al

Al:

Agreed on all points.

On a positive note, UMd basketball has impressed me with what they have done so far in the Big-10, they area true asset and have proven right away that they belong.

UMd won another close one tonight, by 4 over Nebraska. Terps are now 22-5 on the season, 10-4 in the Big 10 with the huge game against Wisconsin up next. This was the Terps 5th straight win by 6 points or less (1,6,2,3,4). It is also the 8th win by 6 or less this season. They sure have liked the close games of late.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Al, I think they have a chance, a small one, against WI. They could win in a down to the wire close game, or get blown out by 30. :rolleyes2: Not betting on the Terps, but you never know. Chris

Chris, that's pretty much the way I see it. Win small or lose big. -- Al

Al/Chris:

Win or lose it will be a measuring stick for an up and coming program. Having watched a few Umd games I can't help but feel that they have a shot at winning (albeit a long one), because they play with a ton of heart and passion. Plus, Turgeon is a great coach and motivator who gets the best from his players.

One thing about Turgeon, he has a vision of what he wants the team to be and he seems to be sticking to it. I had real questions about the program and where it was headed prior to the season starting, especially after UMd had 4 scholarship players transfer out in one week. I figured the program was in trouble and that the players weren't buying what Turgeon was selling. Seems I was wrong. Turgeon seems to know what he wants and the 4 players that left obviously didn't fit. Anyway, I have been very impressed with UMd's showing so far and I wonder how the Big 10 feels about letting The Terps in with the Men's team being #2 in the conference and the Women's team being #1 in the conference. Maybe the Big 10 has let the fox into the hen house, or in this case, a snapping turtle into the goldfish pond.:wink2:{eek3} -- Al

Impressive win by the Terps. They didn't wilt under Wisconsin's second half comeback. Great win. -- Al

Terps won with great guard play and just enough from the bigs. Agree with Seth Greenburg in the post game, don't storm the court, we're MARYLAND! :smile2: Congrats to Mark T and the TERPS, they deserved this win. Chris

Al/Chris:

Congrats, that is a signature win.

-Jason
Thanks, Jason. It was a win that impressed me. I'm naturally pessimistic when it comes to Terp B-ball. Seen too many collapses over the years, including a disaster of a loss to NC years ago when the Terps blew a 10 point lead in the last 60 SECONDS of a game. Anyway, the boys held up under the pressure tonight and got a well-earned and deserved win. -- Al

Many thanks Jason, appreciate that very much. The Terps played a complete game tonight and limited the turnovers. It was close but I felt they were in control the whole time. Chris

Terps still looking good. Took Michigan by 10 today to go to 12-4 in the Big 10 and 24-5 overall. Have won 5 in a row with the last two regular season games coming up at Rutgers and Nebraska. Again, I was impressed by UMd. Went on a 12-0 run at the end of the first half to take a 30-21 halftime lead and then just did what had to be done to win. Played good defense while holding Michigan to 5-21 from the 3-point line. -- Al

Nice move up in the polls by UMd this week. Went from #14 to #10 in the AP poll and to #9 in the Coaches poll. Not bad for a team I didn't think was going to do much better than .500. Just shows what I know and how I have underestimated what Turgeon was doing. -- Al

Al:

I think everyone underestimated them, now no one wants to meet them in the early rounds of the tournament.

Al- as much as I am enjoying this surprising season as you I'm plagued by the memories of all those March melt downs. :redface2: Hopefully this is a new era. :smile2: sometimes I ask myself why not just enjoy the moment? And then I remember I'm a Terp fan. ^&grin. Chris
