Huge game at UNC tonight with UMd. Typically slow start for UMd in this one, with the usual high number of turnovers, 12 in a little over 12 minutes. No way to win a big game on the road. Terps better get their act together as they are already down by 11. -- Al
Terps have settled down, cut down the turnovers, and closed to 55-53 with 15 minutes left. Glad to see they are finally playing well. -- Al

Couldn't pull it off and lost 89-81. Too many turnovers again, and a slow start again, continue to plague the Terps. Played well for most of the 2nd half but couldn't overcome the mistakes. -- Al

Al:

Hang tough, it is a long season and Maryland will work out many of their turnover issues in time for the tournament.

Best,
Jason

Thanks, Jason. I hope so. They sure have handled the ball like they were allergic to it so far this season.:rolleyes2: -- Al

They still don't seem to be playing like a team consistently. It takes time to gel, they are loaded with individual talent and one of the best 4 schools in the country when they play like a team.

MD kept it close despite giving up the ball 20 times. UNC only pulled away in the last few minutes. Our guards matched up evenly with the Tar Heels. Paige and Tremble are two of the best point guards in the country. Thought their big men outplayed us, but haven't checked the stats. Layman was off and we need him to play well to compete with the elites. KY lost as well, tough week. Chris

MD goes to #6 in the polls, not too bad after the loss to UNC. Terps played well last night and won by 10 against a weak UConn squad. Chris

Watched the game, Chris. Had me tearing my hair out again as the Terps let a 20 point lead fade to 3 very late in the game before finally nailing it down. They looked like gangbusters for a good deal of the game but just took their foot off the pedal and let UConn back in the game. Terps need to cure that. -- Al

MD down by 10 with 7 mins to go, comes back to beat Penn State by 6! Probably had you tearing out your hair again Al. :wink2: Tremble had 4 pts and 3 fouls at one point late in game. He has to play well for the Terps to win. I know they had a least 19 turnovers. :rolleyes2:

UK beats hated UofL by 2 in a surprisingly close game. A good week for college hoops for me. :smile2: Chris

Tearing my hair out is a thing of the past as it is mostly gone now. I have taken to beating my head against the wall.:rolleyes2: I was so agitated I switched the channel and didn't go back until the last couple of minutes, to find the game tied. Terp B-ball is the one sport still capable of making me throw a tantrum, even at my advanced age. NOTHING else makes me as crazy. Turgeon should be thanking the lord for Diamond Stone. He beat Penn St. almost by himself. Finished with 39 points, 32 in the 2nd half. UMd. still has to cure the TO problem and find their mojo. Still haven't quite hit their stride. Big 10 is no cakewalk and so it will be an interesting time for the Terps. Don't know if my nerves will survive.:wink2: -- Al

That Diamond Stone is unstoppable at times.

No head banging last night. ^&grin Terps beat Northwestern by 13 and it was never really that close most of the game. Terps shoot lights out and Tremble has big night after a slow start. Playing like a top 5 team now. GO TERPS!! Chris

Yes, my aching head got a break last night.:wink2: Terps looked really good, especially in the 1st half. They were never threatened and led by around 20 points for most of the game. It's nice to watch a Terp game and not go away with a headache.:rolleyes2:^&grin -- Al

Careful, Chris & Al...celebrating a trouncing of the 'Cats may get you banned from the thread {eek3}

Your game against Penn State was the worst thing to happen to Northwestern. We needed to catch you fat and lazy...not angry! We'll get some wins, but now when a team as good as the Terps comes in focused and ready to go.

No harm meant, Pete. I was just relieved to see the Terps play up to their potential, for a change. They have been frustrating to watch this season. The Big 10 has some good b-ball teams with 7 teams having 3 or fewer losses. Big 10 is tough this year. -- Al

No worries...I'm not used to people noticing (or caring) when they beat NU basketball. Things were looking good until our 7' center Olah hurt his foot and sat out, but then Pardon burned his redshirt and has played out of his mind ever since. Can't wait to see what happens when Olah comes back.

Fear the turtle Pete!!! ^&grin^&grin^&grin...Sammy

Terps were up by as much as 40 in second half against hapless Rutgers. And that with Maryland's best player, Melo Tremble, on the bench most of the game with a hamstring injury. A 9-7 Wisconsin team is up next. Chris

Chris, I'm embarrassed. Got distracted and completely forgot about last night's game. Didn't remember it until I read this mornings sports page. Chagrined that I missed a fine performance and a game where I wouldn't have gotten a headache while watching.:wink2: -- Al
