Holy Cow! The 'Cats are on to the Semis for the first time ever.

When we were down by 10 in the 2nd half (and looking awful) I figured we'd run out of gas. That's when they turned on the defense.

Bring on the Badgers.

Fear the Cats!!!! congrats on your win Pete, who knows, maybe we'll see each other again come NCAA Tourney!!

UK wins 3rd straight SEC championship in a row. Yes, I know the league is weak, but I'll take it anyway. ^&grin. UK Looking at a 2 seed. Chris

Glad to see my Terps in the Tourney (6th seed) but there are certain teams that come March Madness time you do not want to play.....Xavier being one of them, you don't here much from that school through out the year but it seems come tournament time they are always knocking off some higher seed, the young Terps will have their hands full Thursday, if Maryland can learn to put two solid half together they should be ok, let's go Terps!!

I still can't figure out how UMd, of the right coast, always ends up in the West. Always the west. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Sammy, I thought they would be two and out, but think they lose to X. Chris

Terps fans, just remember to watch the warning signs. If the Terps get a double-digit lead in the 2nd half, look out.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Naa.... We'll be fine, Sweet 16 here we come!!!!:) seriously though, when the young Terps started this season I was hoping maybe a NIT bid, have played solid ball for such a young team, to me this tourney is a stepping stone for next year squad, but if they do win a few games that's great, all the more experience for next season.

Sammy, I know I have been highly critical of the Terps this season, their inconsistency and inability to put games away when leading by double-digits, but I actually think that the Terps have had a really good season, especially considering that there are 3 freshman in the starting lineup. They are a very young team and, as you say, next year should be a great one, and the Terps will be a formidable team if Melo Trimble can be persuaded to stay for his senior year. Much of my criticism come from 47 years of frustration, watching great Terp teams fall short of their potential, 2002 being the obvious exception. The current team should be a thrill for the next few years. -- Al

GW had a so so season and lost in the A 10 quarters to Richmond and were snubbed by the NIT, so now they're in something called the CBI, College Basketball Invitational. If I had been them, I would have opted to stay home. What a farce.

We're in, we're in!!! Go Cats!!!

Congrats! I always like it when schools with high academic rankings excel at sports. Northwestern ranks #12 in the nation academically according to US News and World reports. Of the teams in the tournament only Princeton (#1) and Duke (#8) rank higher.

NU beats Vandy in a true barn-burner. Great matchup between two evenly matched teams. Thought I was watching UMd as NU blew that 15 point lead. Congrats Pete. -- Al

Picked Northwestern and Notre Dame incorrectly but I should make up at least the NW pick in the next round as they face Gonzaga and hopefully West Va will beat ND.

My heart can start beating again...

We've never lost an NCAA Tournament game!! :salute::

As you said Al, Terps do not know how to play a second half :mad: leading at Half then up by 5 to start the 2nd half all for not, all well, time to get on Pete's Cats bus!!!^&grin^&grin

Well, UMd managed to stink it's way out of March Madness PDQ. The team just never recovered it's confidence after the 1-point loss to Purdue. After starting the season 20-2 , that loss started a slump that saw UMd lose 7 of it's last 11 games. Too bad, Turgeon was just never able to find a solution to the slump. -- Al

Condolences Al. That one hurt me in my pool as I had them beating their next opponent.

Thanks, Brad, but I was resigned to the inevitable with this team. They will be better next year. -- Al
