Some more really good games last night. As Brad said, the Florida shot was fantastic, unless you were a Wisconsin fan. And I agree with Chris, never would have figured 3 SEC teams in the Elite 8. We still have a dark horse, Xavier, and three #1's still in the mix. Been a pretty decent tourney so far except all my teams are long gone, so, Go Wildcats! -- Al

I was hoping that Xavier, as part of the Big East, would make it but knew it was a tall order.

I'd like to see the Gamecocks win today just because they're an underdog and the NC Ky game should be great. Good luck Chris!

Thanks Brad was hoping X would make it to the Final Four. UK is in a tough bracket. Face Oregon if they get by UNC. {eek3} Chris

UK did not play well and are done. Now rooting for South Carolina Chris
May as well make it an all Carolina final. I'll root for the Gamecocks, too. UK picked a bad time to go cold, letting UNC go on that 12-0 run in the last 5 minutes. Still, it took another last second shot to get them out. Thought it an odd game, rather sloppy. Oh well, it's East vs West. -- Al

Thought the same thing. Told my wife "can't believe we're only down 2, 3,etc as poorly as they have played." UNC not much better. Chris

That's a tough one to lose especially after being up and then tying it late. They didn't play stupid though when they were down four or five unlike Florida who didn't play smart towards the end of their game.

The South region was a blue blood basketball gauntlet with North Carolina as the 1 seed, Kentucky as the 2 seed and UCLA as the 3 seed. I would have liked to see Kentucky in the Final Four, but any of those three schools deserves a shot at the Championship.

How odd is it that the 4 teams left are a pair of neighbors, North/South Carolina and Oregon/Washington? Could be a border war or left vs right coast. -- Al

It looks like Melo Trimble is going to enter the NBA draft, forgoing his senior year.
Yep, he declared for the draft. We Terps fans thought he was going to go last year, so we were fortunate he stayed for his junior year. Kind of a foregone conclusion that he was going to go this year. It will leave a floor leadership gap to be filled but UMd will make do. -- Al

Congrats to Miss State Lady Bulldogs ending UCONN run and going to the championship game. That's my wife's school. :salute:: Chris

Heck of a win and especially so because the refs tried to give the game to UConn with that terrible deliberate foul call at the crucial point of the game. Fortunately, UConn couldn't take advantage of the gift. -- Al

Well, not my favorite teams but at least we have an East vs West final as both are #1 seeds. Both good games. SC almost pulled it off but as seen so often, their huge comeback took too much out of them. Gonzaga was fortunate to win. UNC was even more fortunate. Oregon should have had a chance to win on a last possession but, in something I have never seen, UNC missed all 4 of it's free-throws in the last 5 seconds. The shocking part was that UNC managed the rebounds and control of the ball in both situations, sealing Oregon's fate. Oregon is gonna have a headache over that one. UNC virtually handed Oregon the chance to win and Oregon just couldn't get the crucial rebound. I guess I'll pull for UNC, although it goes against my DNA as an former ACC fan. Even so, if Williams can't get his players to hit a clutch free-throw once in a while, they don't deserve to win. JMO. -- Al

As you m we mentioned Al, was shocked to see UNC miss four FTs in a row, plus the failure to block out. Now that SC is out I'll pull for the Zags. Smaller school, first time and all that. Chris

A very weird ending to the UNC game. I almost wonder if they intentionally missed the second FTs thinking the Ducks would only have time for a hail mary shot even if they got the rebound? But then to try to get the rebound was risky. In that situation you see many teams put their guys back to defend. If you go for the rebound and get called for a foul, then instead of a hail mary shot maybe the Ducks are shooting FTs to win the game.

As an aside, I really disliked that court they were playing on. The brown on brown color made it difficult to tell when they were out of bounds. Even the players didn't seem to know. And the elevated court is bizarre. What happens when a 6'10, 200lb player goes charging off the side into the poor crowd? All those fancy moving cameras gave me a headache. The ground angle for FTs, the sliding side angle, the overhead camera. Anyone with motion sickness couldn't watch a game like that.

Vanderbilt has an elevated court. I think it's dangerous every time UK plays there. Plus the benches are at end court. {eek3} Chris
