According to reports it was a roster numbers move as the Raven's signed a 3rd tight end for today's game. Raven's could resign Stokley this week. He had been injured and on the inactive list. -- Al

Al:

Thanks for the info.

Best,

Watched a great defensive struggle between Denver and Dallas. Three yards and a cloud of dust it wasn't. Poor Tony Romo. Has a record breaking day and all he'll hear about is the interception that ended up costing Dallas the game. Manning can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, however he wants. 20 Td passes and 1 interception through 5 games and averaging 46 points a game. Jeesh! -- Al

99 points in an NFL game is amazing. Romo did get the short end of the stick but something tells me that no matter what happened Manning was going to win it.

Hi Jason. 49er's looking pretty good at the half. Seattle getting beaten opens the NFC West back up. -- Al

Yup, we needed this win, especially with Seattle's loss. The last thing we want is Seattle to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

On a side note what the heck happened to Houston? I have watched them 2 weeks in a row now and they just are nothing like they used to be. Not that I am complaining, I will take the win, but that was not even a challenge.

Don't know what the story is with Houston, or Atlanta and the Giants, for that matter. They have been huge disappointments so far. Part of Houston's problem appears to be Schaub's generosity with his passes. He keeps throwing the opponent a fair number of them. He has had 4 passes intercepted and returned for Td's already. Tough to win with the opponent being given points. -- Al

Good point on the turnovers. It killed San Diego last night too. You simply can't contend if you turn it over constantly. The opposite is true as well, see Manning's 20:1 TD to interception ratio this year as proof of that.

Of all the teams you mentioned I think the Giants are in need of the most help. They lost to Philly's back-up QB and the locker room is disintegrating fast.

PS-I am wondering if tonight's game is even worth watching.

I'm not sure what's exactly wrong with the G men except that Manning has been terrible, the offensive line has been terrible, the running game stinks, the defensive line is also bad (JPP is recovering from back surgery and expectedly looks sluggish), and they're in trouble at cornerback. I think the GM did a terrible job and they've gotten off to a terrible start. I think things might have been different had they won the opener against the Cowboys. Notwithstanding their six turnovers in that game, they were in it until Manning turned the ball over (again).

Notwithstanding their start, they are technically still in the divisional race as the rest of the teams are not too good either, although not as as bad as the Giants.

After every game they keep saying, "we have to play better, make first downs, not turn the ball over," etc. No kidding {eek3}

Any questions?

This is hard to fathom but I actually think the Jets might be better than them at this point and they're projected to be a five win team.

Brad:

Nope, that about sums it up. I like the "we have to play better, make first downs, not turn the ball over," etc." line. It reminds me of an NBA game I was watching where the coach was wearing a microphone. During a timeout he told his team, "let's play solid defense and when we get back on offense make our shots". Really? That was your strategy? Kind of like the Giants saying they need to have more points than the other team at the end of the game in order to win.

And the Jets being better is the scariest thought of all!

I'm just listening to Mike Francesa on WFAN in NY and he's ripping them a new one. One of the statements he was ripping was Justin Tuck's comment that they weren't ready for the backup QB Nick Foules and that they had only prepared for Michael Vick, who always gets hurt.

I can't see Coughlin surviving this.

The only way they could have a good season is if they got to play the Patriots the next 11 games ^&grin

I don't know which is more improbable: the Jets winning or the Falcons losing this game. I'll settle for the Jets winning this game {eek3} Great win! ^&cool

Yes it is unfortunate for Dallas and Romo, he played a really great game until that one fatal interception. I guess he who chokes first loses !!! {eek3}

It is hard to believe that the Falcons were so good last year and are so bad this year.

Or maybe the Jets played better tonight, which they did :wink2:

Brad:

I wasn't trying to take anything away from the Jets, but Atlanta is 1-4 now. Last year they were the best team in the NFC. They lost all of their preseason games this year (I know that really does not matter) and they have only beaten the Rams in the regular season. Going back to the NFC title game last year they have only scored 30 or more points once.

No matter what it is a quality win for the Jets and I llike the way it sets up a great matchup with New England.

Rex was supposed to be toast after this year, but if he wins? Michael

He's done a great job this year, if he finishes above 500, the GM would be a moron to fire the guy and like Brad said, if that happens, he can write his own ticket, so it's win/win for Rex.

They are really turning up the pressure to change the name of the Redskins. My only hope that it doesn't happen is that Danny "dumbbell" Snyder is too cheap to let it happen. I read somewhere that the brand name is worth hundreds of millions.

If you're going to change the name (a move which I support) then you better make sure you do it for every other team that has an offensive name. If not, don't bother but at the same time, it should be ok to have a team whose name has the "N" word in it, is called the so and so Whites (or Honkies) or the so and so Yids (or Hebrews or Jews) and so forth.
