Schwartz is indeed clueless. Since he worked for Belichek back in Cleveland days, maybe he should give him a call. Better yet, if Belichek is looking for a challenge, maybe he could become the Lions coach.

The Lions lost this game when Johnson dropped the crossing route on the second series of the game - he would have scored and it would have been 14=0. Problem is the Lions are wouldve, couldve type of team. Interesting to see how this pans out. I will describe the Ravens borrowing from a local sportscaster - they are not that good, however, if teams continue to let them hang around, they will continue to win, they have that type of luck this year.

Sorry Tom, the lions lost when Tucker hit a 61 yarder!!! Sorry fellows but all the ands, ifs, buts, are involved in every game every week, George talked about pi penalties how about that one the Pats got away with against the browns in the final seconds?? And so on and so on, I can call out different scenarios with the Ravens winning a few of the games they lost this year, so again calls go with you or against you every week, and if your team gets a lucky break here or there that's part of the NFL, I'm just glad to still be relavent this late in the season after the first half...Sammy

The NFL is a league where there are no ugly wins. They got it. End of story. However, if the game had been in Baltimore and he goes to kick the FG, I doubt he would have made it. In those domed stadiums where the environment is perfect, your chances of kicking longer FGs are enhanced. Still, 61 yards is a phenomenal feat, nothing to sneeze at.

The Raven's FG kicker, Justin Tucker, is having a remarkable year, by any standard. Spin it anyway you want but Tucker has hit 35 of 37 FG's, a 94.6%. He has hit 6 of 7 from beyond 50. The guy is simply red hot this season. Fact is, NFL made FG% is at an all-time high this year, as are FG's made beyond 50 yards. Perhaps it is time to narrow the uprights or raise the crossbar. Ay any rate, it is time to do away with the 1-point PAT and go with a mandatory 2-point attempt. There have been only 4 missed PAT kicks (3 blocks, 1 shank) in over 1700 attempts. Why bother with it anymore? -- Al

Give BB that roster and they'd be 14-2, they are loaded on both sides of the ball.

Watching a game where I am neutral has really opened up my eyes to the sport, last night I was pulling slightly for the Ravens for Sammy. There are so many bad and non-calls it is actually affecting the game. Last night's game was a prime example of it (I think the bad/non calls went both ways BTW). When my Niners have the calls going their way I am actually really happy, but deep down inside I know that it is truly bad for the game as whole.

A ton of great games this weekend with playoffs implications on the line, looking forward to watching and waiting a lot of out comes of 2-3 games...Sammy

I can't remember so many variables this late in the season for so many teams, good weekend for sure...Sammy

I was just talking to my youngest son about that. He mentioned that this time of year the NFL headlines are usually full of opposing teams complaining about teams that have clinched and their plans to sit starters. That is not the case in 2013 (except for the Eagles whose game might be meaningless if the Cowboys win).

Yup, there are 13 games with playoffs implications one way or the other...Sammy

My girlfriends company Christmas party got postponed last weekend as we got a big storm here, rescheduled for Sunday at 5:00, the Patriots/Ravens game starts at 4:30, so as a result I'll be missing it, she feels badly about it.

I told her not to worry, this is a game I wouldn't want to watch. Guaranteed one of the following will happen "Well it's third down and half a mile, Flacco back to pass, being pressured, he heaves it downfield off his back foot into triple coverage, incomplete, fourth down........................................no, wait, there's a late flag; pass interference, New England, first down, Baltimore".........or, "Well it's third and goal New England, Brady back to pass, throws it into the end zone, incomplete and wow was Endleman mugged on that play, tackled before the ball got there, but no flag, on comes the field goal team".

No way New England wins this one, so they'll be 10-5, losers of 2 strait and 3 of their last 4 going into the final weekend vs the Bills.

Hey, maybe if they win and finish 11-5 and limp into the playoffs, they'll be this years Giants/Steelers/Packers/Ravens; you know, teams that had zero business winning super bowls.

Awesome, I feel better already.

George, I may not all ways agree with you but you do make me laugh sometimes, probably be a boring game anyway :)...Sammy

We've known each other a long time, glad you fully understand like Lancer, Jazzeum, Panzerace and others that 99% of what I write is dripping with sarcasm, no harm, no foul, it's only sports, life's too short to get worked up over adults playing childrens games for pay afterall.................:wink2:

George/Sammy:

I love the last few posts!

Last year after the Niners lost the Super Bowl people literally came up to me and talked to me as if I was in mourning. It was laughable. I love sports and I am a huge fan of my teams, however win or lose my day and moods are not dictated by how they do. It is a form of entertainment and nothing more. Getting upset by a teams loss is like getting upset about a movie that did not turn out to be as good as I had hoped.

And George, you can always watch highlights of the game, the same can't be said of your girlfriend's holiday party. We have all had to make that choice, sports v. life, and life should always win out.

Another huge day for SuperManning. 4 Td passes with 400 yards in their win over Houston. Manning set the all-time NFL record for Td passes in a season with the 4th Td, which gives him 51 on the season, breaking the record of 50. His 400 yards also boosted him to 3rd place on the most yards passing in a single season with 5211. He trails only Brees with 5476 and Brady with 5235. With one game to go, Manning will take 2nd place, almost guaranteed, and might threaten Brees for #1. As far as career numbers, Manning is #2 all-time in Td passes and yards passing, with 487 and 64698, respectively. He trails only Brett Favre who has 508 Td passes, and 71838 yards. One more season will put Manning in 1st place for Td's, but I doubt he will hang around long enough to catch Favre's yardage total. Manning is 37, after all. He has put up this season's number at an age that is years beyond the other Qb's he competes with. Heck, Manning was only 28 years old when he set his former Td pass high of 49. Brady was 30 when he threw his 50 Td passes. I just don't see how he does it, favorable rules or not. Unbelievable. -- Al

Prediction for next week. Dallas loses to Philly. I don't see them winning 2 in a row with the playoffs in the grand picture {sm2}

The Rex era may be near the end. He told his team last night that he thinks he will be fired after next week's game. Jets played reasonably well in what may be Rex's last home game as they beat the hapless Browns.

He and his staff should get a lot of credit for winning 7, maybe 8, games with this group. May help him in his next job.

It's looking the last WC in the AFC may be in play next week, what with the Ravens, Chargers and Dolphins looking to be 8-7.
