Nfl 2013 (4 Viewers)

It's going to be tough to go into Denver and Seattle and get a win. Those are places where home field advantage matters. I think NE and San Fran have the playoff experience and toughness to get it done, but the odds are against them. Russell Wilson also looked average last week for Seattle. He better get his act together. Harblow will show no mercy.

El Predicto:

Seattle 24 SF 20

Denver 37 NE 30

Well, here is the prediction from the 6th time Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. yeah, 6 times , most in the NFL..........................ok,, seriously:

1. New England stops Manning in a nailbiter - 41-38. If these teams don't put up at least 80 points with both swiss cheese defenses, it will be a boring game!!

2. Seattle stops the 49ers. In the NFL , it is hard to stay on a run, the train eventually derails and an away game in Seattle is a good recipe for disaster. PLUS, I want to keep the 49ers at 5 rings!! - Score - 21-17.

Super Bowl prediction - Pete Carroll does was Mike BLOWHARD Holmgren couldnt do in Seattle - win the big one.

Interesting point made. If SF were to win the SB they would tie Pittsburgh in SB titles.

Well the weather in Denver is not going to favor New England; close to 60 at kick off.

Not good.

Not good at all, I have visions of Manning whipping the ball all over the place, he is terrible when the temperature is below freezing.

Advantage Denver.

And I was wrong about the 49ers, they're tied with Dallas or Pittsburg for the most Championship game appearances at 15 since 1970, that is incredible.

you aint kidding about taking the year off :redface2: Its Ok as Denver will provide plenty of action during the superbowl
If you're picking Denver, then I just became the biggest Pats fan West of the Mississippi!! :)..:)George do you have a extra Brady jersey laying around somewhere I could borrow?? Of course I'm just poking for a little fun as you mentioned wayne...Sammy

I'm just resurfacing; we picked up my son from his wilderness program in Utah, drove him to his new program near San Bernardino, Cal., drove to Vegas and are now at the airport waiting for the flight home. It's been a long four days.

I didn't see the 49ers game as we were driving to Utah at the time but did see a chunk of the Broncos game while in St. George's (a beautiful small city, by the way).

Denver was lucky to win and NE has looked good. Manning vs. Brady usually goes for Brady so why would Sunday be any different, plus I think NE has the better coach so NE for me in the SB.

Seattle was lucky to win against the Saints. One less mistake or two by the Saints and the title game is in SF. Seahawks have played ok in the last few games but not great. On the other hand SF have been road warriors and played well. Think the Seahawks are favored by 3 or so. Well, you get 3 for being the home team so that's not much of an edge. Plus, my son will get to watch his favorite team and don't think he will be disappointed. SF to face NE! Go Niners!

I think we are all having a little fun on this one! I do want the Super Bowl to be the Niners v. the Patriots, but not just because of the obvious reasons. I truly want to see what Belichick will do against the Niners and vice versa.

Mild weather makes ball-control even more important for NE. I still don't see Denver's defense holding up NE at all, but the NE offense will have to keep the ball away form Manning. NE doesn't want Manning having the ball enough to launch 50 passes so NE needs to channel some old Jim Nance ground-pounding. I don't really care who wins in the AFC, just want to see a good game. -- Al

Well the time for talking is over, let the games begin.

This is exactly where the Patriots were a year ago, playing the team many thought they'd be playing last year as well.

Take the next step, end the "who's better Brady or Manning" debate forever.

And again, memo to the refs; no ticky tack BS calls please, let all four teams play.

The vast majority of people out there seem to be pulling for Manning, many feel this is his last shot at a ring.

Patriots; end this nonsense.

George, there is a terrific article in today's Washington Post (www.washingtonpost.com) by Mike Wise that addresses the issue of the Brady v Manning question and their place in the history of great Qb's. Just go to the sports section and scroll down to the Wise article, 'In the clutch, Brady gets the better of rival Manning'. Take the time to read it and I think you will be pleased. :wink2: -- Al

No reason to change my opinion. Brady vs. Manning is 10-4 Brady. Enough for me. Pressure is on Denver. They will be a little tight.

Broncos will have an unspoken advantage today: the altitude. Two years ago an 8-8 Broncos team quarterbacked by Tim Tebow defeated a far superior 11-5 Steelers team in Denver, and the only explanation I could see for it was the altitude and the thinner atmosphere wearing down the Steelers. This, in combination with the crown noise causing some false starts and keeping Brady from changing the play every time he wants to could constitute a significant home field advantage for the Broncos. The Patriots defense, which is starting 5 rookies, is 30th against the run, and 26th at getting off the field on 3rd down. The Broncos will score at will.

The Broncos defense is also decimated, and wasn't any good to start with. However, they also have one advantage: the Patriots even more decimated receiving corps. If I am the Broncos, I put 8 men in the box to get Brady away from the run, double Edelman, and hope the other receivers drop a few key third down passes. I still see this game as too close to call, as with all the advantages to Denver, I expect Belichek to come up with a few surprises, Brady to play with poise, and Peyton to choke, as he inevitably seems to do in big games.

It really doesn't matter, as neither of these teams has any chance against either of the NFC teams in the Super Bowl. Both Seattle and the 49ers have defenses which will hold either AFC team down, and offenses which will run all over either AFC team's defenses. Additionally, if the 49ers win, they have a lethal receiving corps, which will score at will on either of the AFC secondaries.

The big question: who wins the NFC Championship? Again, I see a huge home field advantage to the host team, Seattle. I see the defenses as both amazing, I give a slight edge in the running game to Seattle, and a big edge in the receivers corps to San Francisco. The difference in the game to me: Colin Caeperneck's tendency to throw 2-4 balls every game which are, or should be, intercepted. I don't see the incredible Seattle secondary dropping those balls, like the Carolina secondary did last week. I think Seattle wins a low scoring game because of 1-2 key turnovers which either cost the 49ers points, or kill drives where the 49ers would themselves have scored.

Champ Bailey is starting today for the Broncos.

146 year old Champ Bailey.

The Patriots the past four games have run, run, run the ball, thus, everyone expects this to continue.

Today, they will whip the ball all over the place in the first half, wearing down the Broncos defense, then run the ball down their throats the second half.

Dobson is back, he's their deep threat, both slot receivers are as healthy as they've been all year long, short stuff underneath, deep to Dobson.

3:00PM EST can't get here fast enough.

Ok Bill, you got some 'splaining to do. I told you "run the ball, run the ball, run the ball" and keep Manning off the field. You haven't done either, so now you are behind 13-3 at the half. Let's get it straight in the 2nd half, ok? It's been a close game and the refs are letting them play. Looking forward to a good 2nd half. -- Al

Down two scores, and having no luck stopping Denver, would a surprise onside kick to start the second half a al Sean Peyton's Saints in Manning's second Super Bowl be in Belichek's bag of tricks?

The Patriots have to go back to that play action throw to Edelman down the field. He was wide open, and Brady had all kinds of time to throw. If he doesn't miss long that was a touchdown.

The offensive left guard for the Broncos, #65, has missed a couple of key blocks on running plays. On the first drive (the one where the Broncos punted), on second and 4, he completely blew his blocking assignment on a run, doubling a Patriot who was already being effectively blocked by the tackle, and allowed the Patriots middle linebacker, completely unblocked, to drop the runner for a 5 yard loss, bringing up a 3rd and 9 the Broncos could not convert. If I were the Patriots defense, I would be looking to exploit him, particularly on running plays.

Wow. I really did not see the Patriots not making it a game in the second half. Belichek didn't make any of the adjustments I expected. The Broncos scored on every drive but their first (when they punted) and last (victory formation).

Now for the main event: Seattle vs. San Francisco.
